Article On Sean Taylor Being Depicted As A Thug

But Taylor’s redemption song has been forgotten in the crush to judge him by the character of his assassins. Michael Wilbon, an African-American sports columnist from The Washington Post, commented in his Q&A blog, “Taylor grew up in a violent world, embraced it, claimed it, loved to run in it and refused to divorce himself from it. He ain’t the first and won’t be the last.” Yes, Taylor grew up in a violent world if you take the football into account. Yet he was primarily raised by his chief-of-police father in a middle-class home and attended private school.

Great article definitely worth the read. The media tends to paint pictures instead of just giving the facts. If your young, black and listen to Hip Hop, chances are the media will call you a thug if you ever get into an incident.

I’m not surprised by this at all. I’m from Virginia. The Commonwealth state. That’s how we are viewed. No matter how industrious and productive you are here. If you’re Black, (in their eyes) we’re still NIGGERS!

Yeah, all these people rushed to judgement bringing his passed up in this situation. He wasn’t out hangin’ with his boyz. He wasn’t out at 5 o’clock in the morning at some strip club. The man was in HIS house, with HIS girl and HIS baby and some one came in, violated and killed the man. The funny thing is all the “black” columnist like Michael Wilbon and fat ass Jason Whitlock will not apoligize for slandering this man’s name. Whitlock will just wait for the next black man to get in trouble and start blaming rap music, the black KKK or whatever the hell he talks about. I just want to say no matter what he did in his past, short of killing some one else he didn’t deserve to die! Sean Taylor R.I.P. At the end of the day, he’s just ANOTHER black man cut down WAY TOO EARLY…Let’s wake up before it’s too late!

I think Michael Wilbon’s comments were taken too far. What he said about Sean Taylor was true, he did embrace the thug life but I honestly believe Michael Wilbon believes Taylor was tryin to turn his life around also. Wilbon stated that facts, if u dabble in the thug life it might come back to haunt you. I believe he had matured also but that life can always come back to get you. R.I.P. though to Sean Taylor, a real true nigga from the FLA.
