I gotta add one more thing tho….Why is lupe trying to sound too complex when he’s saying stuff that is not so complex? I mean I still like his music. But he’s overdoing it with the overpronouncing and forcing word play.

just my 2 cents.

song is fire. y would yall say he’s tryna to sound like lil wayne? he has a way better delivery than wayne if u haven’t noticed…and better lyrics…better at just about everything cept swag…and he doesn’t kiss men.

and #5, if u don’t think the lyrics are complex, u prolly don’t understand em.

27.
Bob wrote on December 3rd, 2007 at 12:28 am

If you listen to Lupe’s old mixtapes like lupe the jedi, he has definitely been rhyming like that for a while. Like how he says “I love the lord”. He’s not taking that from wayne but because people are on lil wayne’s nuts you automatically think he originated a style. I hate how that works. Lupe is the truth, he tells a story like none other.

28.
The PRodigal wrote on December 3rd, 2007 at 6:25 am

#27 you right before they see who’s been rhyming like that longer they just hope on Wayne’s nuts

29.
LupinSoLovely wrote on December 5th, 2007 at 11:31 am

Lupe never disappoints and thank you #27 for acknowledging LUpe’s originality..anyways..this is goin over your heads..it’s obvious cause if it wasn’t he would be Diamond..& he’s worth it.
On the real, let’s not expect everyone to be at a level mentally to understand some lyrics not meant for everyone to comprehend…eventually their minds MAY mature..just wish them luck.. & indulge in the intellectual.
YUMM…LUPEEEE

The title of the song doesn’t match the lyrics at all. He also sounds like he is reaching. The production is lazy and the mix is week. I don’t like it at all, but I like the concept that is not developed to it’s fullest potential. Mr. Fiasco is over rated and over worked. If you like this, then you are fine because it is a lot better than most of the crap out there today.

In all honesty, this track out-matches/out-thinks/ just out-shines any track you’re gonna hear for most of 2008. (ignore the fact it dropped in late ‘07

lupe is that far-reaching…he’s mainstream, i’ll agree, but he digs deep enough to summon a bit of production that some beats that the old-soulful heads will enjoy as much as the backpackers.

do ya’ thing lu!

After listening to this song as well as his album I believe that Lupe is potentially one of the greatest lyricist I’ve ever heard…His wordplay is ridiculous…what other rapper can personify a cheeseburger?

Lupe is the coldest in the game. No other rapper can compare to him. Everyone is on wayne’s nuts but he cant pull off what Lupe can. Because hes not smart like lupe.

Someone let Nas know, hip hop is not dead yet (untill lupEND anyways)
