Yo, I agree with WTC.
Who said wu never sold records. They went like 7 times platimum fresh out the gate, way before anyone ever heard of 50 pennies or eminem
for that matter. I olso agree that the times are way different, back in the day you needed more skill to stand out. 50 is a product of hip hop commercialazation. To some degree hip hop is dead on public TV and RADIO. Thats why us real hip hop fans get a fresh breath of air when we get some real shit like The Wu, Nas, and a fue other true MCs with real skills.

You’ll seem to be missing the point the GZA is making. The GZA was commenting on how the quality of hip-hop these days is horrible compared to what it used to be. He used 50 Cent and Soulja boy as two examples, he listed a few other mainstream artists.
50 Cent is an ungrateful trick who owes most if not all of his success and career to the legendary producer Dr. Dre. 50 Cent is in his mid thirties, the GZA is in his early mid 40s, so stop with this old/young shit. The GZA writes better lyrics then 50 Cent and hes got better flow and anyone that tries to deny that is lying to themself or you’re just another 85 snake that is dumb, deaf and blind. The reason why 50 Cent reached a whole new level of stardom compared to the GZA and the Wu-Tang as a whole was because the times were different, 50 had them 10%ers like the internet, MTV, Aftermath/Interscope Records as well as the beats of legendary Dr. Dre at his disposal. Wu-Tang came from the projects, they had hardly any money and their budget for their first album was about $36,000. 50 Cent prior to going big was selling cocaine in NYC and living with his grandparents. How can you take someone who writes complete crap serious compared to a righteous legend such as the GZA?

YALL niggas keep mentioning G-unit flopped, fact is banks sold 143k first week out so did buck, the last 10 wu albums (solo or collective) probably didnt even push that much total. Them old ass niggas complain too much, they just have to realize that this isn’t 93 no more.

I used to like the GZA back in the days when he dropped his first solo album it was a classic, but him and the WU haven’t come out with quality shit since the 90’s. GZA just hatin because 50 got mad money and got the rap game on lock right now. These old niggas from the WU-TANG were always hatin on niggas that were better than them and had more money! Ex; Ghost Face and Raekwon hating on Biggie. Raekwon hatin on Jay-Z and now GZA hatin on 50. These niggas need to stop hatin and come out with some quality music!!!! WU-TANG in my eyes are a bunch of suckas now!!!!! Broke niggas!!
