I Just Downloaded NaS’ New Album And It Doesn’t Work. Ain’t That Just Like A NIGGER…..

I don’t think there is anyway any intellectual person can justify him calling his album, “NIGGER.” I’m a NaS fan but,I think this is definitely a bad look for NaS. The only way he can redeem himself is by making this album a classic.

After Illmatic, It Was Written, The Lost Tapes, Stillmatic and Hip Hop Is Dead…. The N, we known have Nigger?!?!?! Wow….

I can see the white suburban kids saying it now, “MAN YOU HEARD THAT NEW NIGGER ? NAH, THAT NIGGER SHIT BE HURTING MY EARS!!!”

DefJam Marketing is going to have a field day advertising these albums, “BEST BUY, CIRCUIT CITY, TOWER RECORDS, THEY ALL SELL NIGGERS!!! GET YOURSELF A NIGGER TODAY!!!!”

    Great Album Cover Though….

  9. Anon Says:

LMAO @ 8. You’re kidding right? I was on line for the Nas show last night in NYC and those white kids had no problem throwing the word around like its no big deal. But let me guess, since it ends with ‘er’, it makes a big difference right? Nigga came about from Nigger. It evolved into that word. Just like Murder and Murda. It all means the same shit.

  10. FLAHOMIE Says:

NAW THAT AINT THE COVER. KNOIN NAS THE COVER WILL PROB HAVE THE KKK ON THE FRONT WIT NOOSES O SUM SHIT.

  11. The King Says:

    that album cover is dope
if this album sparks sum intelligent conversation thats great
but who knows whats gonna happen
and whoever said nas album covers are always hot sounds crazy nas’ album covers are never hot they be weak

so nas dont work for jay no more?

    Darius Sinclair™ Says:

This is a free country. I don’t care HOW offensive the title is or how many stores say they won’t sell it. This music industry is built on capitolism and supply-and-demand. The people want the album, Walmart gone sell that ish. Shit, have you seen Manhunt 2 or No Country For Old Men. They say that’s art. Some of the most violent ish out. We’ll see though.

  13. Yuu serious?! Says:

    man fuck nas..seriously

    fuck stop brining publicty nas!

  14. King of Southside Says:

nigga needs SHOCK album titles to get some attention

  15. Jince Says:

its kinda cool, i like the whole “uncle” look nas got going on

btw, rtny, wheres the coverage of the nas concert last night?

  16. Triniboy Says:

I hope this lives up to all the Hypeit generated. Nas has always been a controversial figure. But since he signed to def jam i think he feels more pressure to succeed. With all this hype somethin tells me he wont even go gold in this climate. Wish him all the best. if u so gangsta why u didnt name the album cracker why do blacks always have to suffer for one person to sell records.

  17. QWERT Says:

    lmao @ #3

nas needs to rap. he has to stop trying so hard, he couldnt even justify the album if he took a more intellectual position then it would’ve been proper. its quite a shame. i hope this album is a classic though for his sake.

  18. kintell Says:

i dont give a fuck what the cover looks like as long as the music is good.his last joint was so controvercial but was trash inside.i hope he doesnt make that mistake again.

  19. ns_dip514 Says:

Yall really think Def Jam gon let that happen? hell no….

  20. KingSupreme Says:

    Controversial.

    Provocative.

    Powerful.

The fact that he appears to resemble Malcolm X is a saving grace for an album title such as this.

Always remember tha tan intelligent, educated, brave and courageous man such as Malocolm X was constantly called a n*gger by the establishment.

What a wa yto take away the sting of such a word. Not by trying to bury the word, but by embracing it.

All those books NAS had read is really starting to show they were not a waste of time.

It might not be a smart business move, but then again.. publicity is publicity. Though I’m sure he doesn’t care much about the $$$ if he does come with this.

    Legend.

    I’m out yo.

  21. magic jones says Says:

    1 word FLOP!!!

  22. Architect Says:

Stop Hatin and support good music. Nas has never disappointed me with an album, NEVER. I will admit some are better than others but I was never let down. I hate when people trash good music and talk about all that bullsh*t thats saturating and circulating the air waves and mainstream. We as black people need to step it up…

  23. 2cents Says:

    @ King supreme

Why not call him Brother Shabazz?

p.s. classic or not jus get the message he’s tryin to send, which may not happen for a few years!

  24. David Says:

It’s not only in America this is controversial. Everybody knows no matter what country you’re from that the word “Nigger” is something you don’t say to a black person. Nas is an international star. Now people all over the world especially in many European countries and Japan where hiphop is pretty popular) are going to buy an Album call “Nigger”. WTF?

  25. whoa Says:

yo dat shit is wack b

  26. bushwick pure Says:

he need something to help him sell he washed the fuck up

  27. Ty Says:

This shit is hot even if it is fake

  28. jb Says:

i dont see nothin wrong wit nas callin his album nigger he is a grown man he can do wat he wants i kno its gon be good ima cop it…

  29. lsnacksh
    lsnacksh Says:

If you look at this page, subliminally speaking it says Nas is a nigger… Which Makavelian Theorists would love as the downfall of the Black Man in America but it seems to be right there……. I’m unsure of the content of this album but as a Nas enthusiest,it should be timeless. Not to dismiss the content of my post but Fuck Bill O’ Reilly. Stephen Colbert is the man!

  30. Juicy Says:

Y’all not getting the purpose of this title. People use words because they’re powerful. Nigger is a very powerful word, why? Because people give words power. Nas is trying to soften the term and make it less powerful. Like the word “Cracker” no one uses it because the white community doesn’t give power to it, white don’t see it as an “offensive term”. Here’s a good example Chris Rock goes on stage and goes “Cracker, Cracker, Cracker, Cracker ass Cracker, Fuckin’ Chracker, ect.” The white community didn’t blow it out of proportion, the white community brushed it off and didn’t care. Michael Richards goes on stage and “tries” to be funny by running around stage yelling “He’s a nigger, he’s a nigger!” and it gets aired on every news show, every radio show, and is on the tip of everyones tung. People give words power. Nas is a genius, he wouldn’t name his album that if he didn’t have a deep, powerful meaning behind it.

  31. Moe Jones Says:

If that cover releases, that’s goin 2 be the sickest album cover of 2008!!! Fo real…

  32. deepthought Says:

Look if anyone has read or seen any of the interviews with L.A. Reid or Nas then you know that this album is coming. But the way Nas is talking this is going to be more then an album , it’s more then a cover or a title it needs to be heard. What nuff of you people need to do is really listen to Nas. Every album has been a growth in way or another for Nas, It is not the beats that you have to be listening to it’s his words. Hip hop is dead offended nuff rappers because Nas is basically callin em all out, saying let’s bring it back to lyrics. See Rap is supposed to be art, and an artist should never sell out his craft for the $$$, but that is where hip hop is at and that’s why it’s dead. Nas is creative on every album different from the norm but still gangsta, and people hate on it. Nigger is gonna offend all the right people and those that have the mental capacity or aren’t stuck in the matrix will love it.

  33. Nytquil1 Says:

To be honest, Black pple need to step their game up. When was the last time you picked up a news paper to get informed? If your answer is… “I can’t remember” than you my brother, you are a Nigger. Honestly. All this drug dealing bullshit, and degrading women and lack of moral is tearing black pple apart and 99% of black pple will use the excuse “I’m a product of my environment” Picture if great black leaders like Martin Luther King, Oprah Winfrey, Alexander Bouchet, Frederick Douglas never accomplished their deeds and used that as an excuse. Now don’t get me twisted; being a product of your environment does influence you, but again life, especially in America, isn’t about where u came from but where you’re going. So Nigger all you want; the fact of the matter is most pple who get defensive by the term just may view themselves as Nigger. I hope Nas does live up to the hype of the title but for real we black pple need to start uplifting each other, instead of calling each one another “my nigga” why not use “my Brotha?”

  34. the truth Says:

everybody knows nas is great he’s a poet not a corny rapper everybody keep talkin about dough nas said in belly we got dough now dmx couldn’t answer it cause you know why he’s stupid like the rest of these idiots supporting this wack crap on the air hip hop is dead you people are stuck in laffy taffy land

  35. bjames180 Says:

The Truth you have no idea what you’re talking about. DMX played in that movie to support what was being said, he doesn’t just play in a movie to criticize himself, I’ve seen Belly I own the movie and have seen it 30 times and he’s saying the same message. DMX is a smart guy he’s not stupid, he took the hip hop industry by storm in the late 90’s and sold 5 number one albums. You can’t be stupid by doing something like that, these guys that are out now are stupid with their bullsh*t ringtone pop songs that make no sense (like Souljia Boy Tell ‘Em).
But anyway I don’t give a sh*t whether or not Nas is coming out with an album titled Nigger, I think he’s right, people have been trying to get rid of racism and it’s only made it worse, my opinion is that if people stop talking about it then it will eventually die down. But Nas’ approach on the issue is a very risky situation and he has balls to come out with an album of such a title, he said that if it becomes a household word, then it will take the hatred out of the word, I mean if someone calls a white person a cracker they’ll laugh in your face because it doesnt have any meaning or backround and the n*ggers are pretty f*ckin stupid if it takes them 300 years to come up with something to say back and the best word they can think of is cracker. And besides all this I think Nas’ album will be good because he wouldn’t come out with this album if he didn’t have something intellectual to say about it.
If Oprah Winfrey had a special episode on her show called nigger i don’t think people would criticize her for it, but would rather see what she is trying to say, but if someone like Nas comes out with an album entitled Nigger, people criticize it because it has to do with Hip Hop, if Nas came out with this album in a time period where Hip Hop was respected and accepted as a category of music than more people would support the album, but people think it’s just some bullsh*t publicity stunt to sell a record.
