Jay-Z Talks About His Future Plans

If I’m inspired. To be honest, I’ve been thinking about that lately. I have one album left on my contract, and then I’ve really come full circle.

This is all hypothetical but I’ve been thinking on the fly: I have one album left, right? If I’m inspired to make that album, then my contract is done and I’m not in the music business anymore as far as being an artist. I can still make music. But how I reach people with that music … I can do anything with it at that point. It’s kind of exciting in a way. I’m not in the music business so I can drop a single every month. Who knows? The possibilities are endless — and without any pressure to sell anything. I could make whatever and do whatever with my music. Maybe the songs would just play in 40/40.

Looks like Jay-Z is trying to think outside of the box and change the game.

Which hip-hop artist has got next?

I don’t know. The obvious choice would be Lil’ Wayne. That’s on the front of everyone’s mind unless you don’t include Kanye in the equation. I think everyone would agree that Wayne is the closest.

Why not jus say your “lil brother” Kanye? He can’t be hating on Wayne he had him on his and Kanye’s album so… again why not just co-sign your boy biggest act and “lil brother”?!?

YOU SEE THESE LAST FEW INTERVIEWS FROM HOV AND SEGAL ARE SUBLIMINAL MESSAGESTHAT LA REID ISNT GIVING JAY Z THE MARKETING DOLLARS FOR HIS RAP ACTS. ITS A DOMINO EFFECT. YOU CANT BLAME HOV FOR ANYPNES FAILURE ESPECIALLY SINCE THE MONEY COMES FROM AND GETS APPROVED BY LA REID. LA REID WANTS DEF JAM TO BE AN R

He is acknowledging Kanye but he is saying that everyones opinion seems to be opting for Wayne to take the spot I aint convinced that is his opinion though I think he prefers Kanye.

The King wrote on December 16th, 2007 at 9:00 am

i think he was givin kanye his respect by not puttin him in the same category or sentence as lil wayne. kanye cant have next cuz he’s already now, sum shit like that. he’s a world wide star already a megastar. lil wayne is a hiphop star that might crossover and hit big,

its gonna be real interesting to see what him and the folks at defjam come up with to market music. they are creative and ahead of the pack as far as thinking outside the box, they’ve shown that
whatever this new idea is, if it pops off. people gotta give all them dudes credit for saving the industry

Funny how he said he was done with recording, when he was under a 3 album contract from def jam. Nigga think he slick.

yapz wrote on December 16th, 2007 at 11:43 am

^^^^^^

i think he meant that as if everyone else is saying that, not him. look at the way he says it.look at his choice of words. He uses “everyone” not “I”. I felt like he was being political with that choice. but then look at how he says “if you dont include kanye in the equation”. ye is a different form of hip hop, he doesnt really fit in to the “hip hop” world. he’s so different that its difficult to really place kanye. thats just my opinion.

15.
yapz wrote on December 16th, 2007 at 11:49 am

as far as him finishing his contract i think thats gonna be good for him. he seems excited about being able to not worry about numbers and shit. he is right the possibilities are endless. he could make albums and attach them with some of his different products. shoe, clothes, nets tickets and the only way you can get the album would be by buying one of his products. he is right this can be something big and different. make it more exclusive. they better figure something out becuase the music industry is in crisis mode right now.

16.
yapz wrote on December 16th, 2007 at 12:01 pm

^^^^^^^

i think he was being politcal with that statment. notice how he doesnt say “I” but he uses the word “everyone”. which means he’s choosing by what other people feel, not him. and as far as kanye, he’s so different it hard to put him in a catagory. he’s hip hop, but it not the traditional hip hop that we are use to. ye thinks so out of the box that its hard to place him within this industy.

i think him finishing his contract is going to be good for him. he seems excited about the possiblities of what he can do without the pressure of numbers. i think that he can make albums and attach them to his products. shoe, clothes, nets tickets, 40/40, marketing. there is so much he can do. the albums would be exclusive and he would selling his other products aswell. you can only get the album if you buy a certain piece of merchandise. that sounds interesting.

As long as Jay Z is still involved in the music industry in some capacity I’m good. I don’t think a few more albums are neccessary although I think he got 1 or two left in him. Maybe just one album. I like the idea of just puttin out singles ever month. Take his carrer back to the hit makin man. Yes, it’s possible for a 40 year old man to still be makin hit records. Maybe get involved in the ringtone game. Show these young niggaz what a quality ringtone really is. Whatever Jay does I hope he don’t leave us all the way. I agree that he needs to take a step back to get married, have some kids and travel the world. He’s done so much for new york and hip hop as a whole. Whether you think he fell off or what not he still is the freakin man. Simple and plain. Aint no one gonna see a brotha like this in hip hop again. Not even Wayne or Kanye. Jay if you readin just know that not everyone feels you should leave and that most of us think you just gettin started for real. It aint a young man’s game no more. No one says nothin when Snoop Dogg, Common, Busta Rhymes, Birdman, or Ice Cube still be spittin. It’s just an indictation of your success Jay.

Just because you read it, doesn’t mean you find it INTERESTING. It means you are just trying to stay CURRENT and that is what Jay and Bey are good at. But it doesn’t mean they are any good or not?!!
