De-Haven’s Latest Comments On Jay-Z
In the video for his new hit single “Roc Boys (And the Winner Is),” Jay talks about a crew of Marcy hustlers called the Roc Boys. Were you a Roc Boy?
I have no idea what a Roc Boy is, actually. I guess that’s something new that they’re coming up with now. There was no crew back in ‘88; it was just me and him, so I don’t know how he got “Roc Boys.”Does Jay exaggerate his drug-dealing in his songs?
I’m telling you he overexaggerates. He was there to see things, but doing some big-time Frank Lucas-type thing? No. He nickled and dimed, but nothing on a major scale. He definitely didn’t sell nothin’ in Marcy. Spanish Jose, who he mentions a lot [in his songs], was a friend of mine. Jay didn’t have no affiliation to Spanish Jose.Full Interview @ NYMag
I think just like most rappers, Jay-Z has definitely embellished his hustling days.

The album is inspired by a movie, not his real life, it in the preface. Jay gets a pass on embellishing here.
December 1st, 2007 at 6:16 pm
I think Jay says I’m more Frank Lucas than Ludacris……..Didnt say he was the same as Frank Lucas…..Ludacris admits he had no life on the streets so thats what Jay is referring to……That he isnt just a rapper but had a life in the streets…….Who are we to say how much he sold or how much into he was…….Dont see how it really matters anyway……Dehaven will say anything now cause just as he admits he is doing this for the money…

“so fuck De’haven for cave in, thats why we dont speak
made men aint supposed to make statements
end of the story i followed the code cracked the safe
other niggas aint in the game so they practice hate
leave that boy Hov alone why dont ya
you dont have to if you dont want to but dont say i didnt warn ya”
Jay-Z No Hook
December 1st, 2007 at 6:22 pm
Obviously, but c’mon people reappers say so themselves nothin they say should be taken literally, no rapper whose worth speaking about is gonna still be hustlin. As long as Jay raps as well as he did in American Gangster I don’t give a flying fuck how much he exxagerates.
December 1st, 2007 at 6:25 pm
LMAo at RTNY puttin this shit up just cuz they made up that story about 50s ferarris, just so people dont think u on hov dick
December 1st, 2007 at 6:27 pm
jay dont act gangsta so this nigga needs to fall back, jay is 40, that nigga aint on no gangsta shit, nobody believes him
December 1st, 2007 at 6:34 pm
‘american gangster’ isnt exactly bout his life, its bout the whole movie thing. when jay talks bout his past he says he sold drugs, he NEVER said he was a drug kingpin so wut has he embellished.
dehaven seriously get a job
December 1st, 2007 at 6:36 pm
Oh…
And I don’t need no hook for this shiiiit…
December 1st, 2007 at 6:41 pm
Dehaven (and sometimes dame) act like jay’s ex girls, always screaming that ‘he did me wrong…’. Let him do his thing real or fake, its just weird to focus so much energy on one person. I agree with OLA get a job dammit lol.

December 1st, 2007 at 6:50 pm

December 1st, 2007 at 6:57 pm
Which do you think is worse jayz and this guy or 50 and Bang Em/Domination.
December 1st, 2007 at 7:15 pm
Dehaven needs to get a job and stop practicing hate…There are ALWAYS two sides to every story, and although Dehaven may be telling the truth…There is probably a logical reason as to why Hov decided to dissociate himself from him…
Sometimes it’s wiser leaving the hood and all the bullshit that comes with it behind…Perfect case and scenario…Mike Vick and his peoples…
…If this Dehaven is bitch enough to “cave” & “make statements” about Hov’s personal life in such a persistent manner…There is no telling what damage he could’ve tried to cause Hov down his road to success if he kept him around…Jealous niggas are the WORST company you can keep…They always have hidden agendas…
…Hov saw this nigga’s type character from a mile away…He made a wise choice in leaving his bitch ass behind…

People like to call Jay disloyal, but he still is cool with Tyty, OG juan Hip Hop, Bleek, and coutless others from the original ROC and other childhood friends. People just like to focus on the negitive, what about the people he’s still with. Don’t call me a stan, just think about my comment.
December 1st, 2007 at 8:20 pm
DEHAVEN NEEDS TOO MAKE UP HIS MIND FIRST HE FLAT OUT SAID THAT HE HELPED JAY WHEN HE LOST 30 BRICKS NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN HE DIDN’T DO NO REAL WORK?? ..
AND NOT TO MENTION IF JAY IS NOT A G OR WHATEVER THEN WHY THE FUCK DO YOU FEEL YOUR SAFETY IS IN DANGER BECAUSE OF THE NO HOOK LINE??
IF A DUDE IS ON HIS WAY TO A BILLION ,OFCOUSE YOUR GONNA EITHER COME SWEET OR TRY EVERY THING TO STOP DUDES WHOLE LIL MOVEMENT IF ANYBODY RUN WITH THIS SHIT YOUR A LOSER AT LIFE JUST LIKE DEHAVEN
AND IF ANYBODY WITH SINCE EVEN PRETEND LIKE JAY FANS(INCLUDING MYSELF) ARE GOING TO EVEN THINK TWICE ABOUT US NOT BEING HIS FANS YALL MIGHT AS WELL JUMP OFF A BRIDGE
THERE ISN’T ANY AMMOUNT OF EXSPOSING(IF THAT’S WHAT YOU CHOOSE TO CALL IT) IN THE WORLD THAT’S GOING TO MAKE ME STOP LISTENING TO JAY-Z’S MUSIC, INTERVIEWS OR ANYTHING ELSE .STAN MY ASS. EITHER YOU HOT OR YOU NOT AND YOU FOOLS CAN PRETEND HE AN’T ALL YOUR LIFE BUT JAY HAS BEEN PROVING WHY HE’S “DAT NIGGA” FOR THE LAST PAST 10 YEARS
24/7 365 NIGGA!!!!
December 1st, 2007 at 8:38 pm
Jay has never said in any of his songs that he was a king pen. One thing that he has always said though is that he was a hustler. there are alot of niggas out here who got dough from nickle and diming, cause they used the money in the right way.
December 1st, 2007 at 8:41 pm
and for anybody out in the world who is a rap fan thats says this man cant RAP. How can you say this guy cant rap. If he cant rap then who can. Yall Crazy!!!!!!!!!!
December 1st, 2007 at 8:52 pm
LOL @ MAGIC JONES…
@ 15…You’re lame…Magic said it all…
December 1st, 2007 at 9:40 pm
if your hypnoytized your hynotized if not you’re not. face it jays fans will never admit he didn’t “keep it real” with his come up and for those who can barely stomach the idea their fall back is he still wrote the rhymes even though they were lies.
The jay “haters” are basically upset at the principle he didn’t “keep it real” but came up off others (in MANY MANY WAYS, personal assistance, choice of samples, swagger jackin)
as for american ganster i swore he said the movie stirred up old times from his past and this cd was INSPIRED by the movie but was suppose to be his story at the same time.
December 1st, 2007 at 9:40 pm
I thought De haven decided to move on but I guess I was wrong.
December 1st, 2007 at 9:42 pm
“The jay “haters” are basically upset at the principle he didn’t “keep it real” but came up off others (in MANY MANY WAYS, personal assistance, choice of samples, swagger jackin)” ….and didn’t give back!
December 1st, 2007 at 9:51 pm
I cant stand jealous niggas. Dehaven is definitely fits that profile. Jay has been the best rapper in the game for the past 7-10 yrs and I don’t even like dude. But real certainly recognizes real. Dude is the best. His lyrics, metaphors, style and consistency are two levels above the closest competitor (which is probably Wayne, Luda, TI and Jadakiss in that order) Jay deserves all his accolades and snitch ass, pussy ass, bitch made niggas like Dehaven should stay the fuck in their lane.

FUCK REALTALKNY..WORD UP..your shit’s gettin mad weak
December 2nd, 2007 at 12:21 am
The stuff about “Roc Boys”, well the name/intro, that was for the video, creative purposes. Seriously, anybody really think that back in the day, they called themselves Roc Boys? The song just came into existence. This was a conceptual album.
I don’t think this guys that bright. lol You’re gonna do a video about how you’re gonna “expose” a man, put it on YouTube and believe that by doing this type of video that he would want to sit down and discuss shit with you. LMAO Discuss what? How much money you’ll shut you up for? Isn’t that shit like extortion.
The notion of sitting down and discussing something like men seems like it went out the door a long time ago, since you doing YouTube videos and stuff.
But you know it’s really like “Who cares?” I could care less. I believe his main intentions are/were money. Of course they are that’s why he’d doing a DVD and a book about Jay-Z. He hasn’t seen him or heard from him in years and now all of sudden you want to “expose” a nigga talking on some teenager shit. I don’t care what anybody says this is some bitch, snitch, desperate ass shit. Lame. Times have got to be hella hard for him and that can’t be Jay-Z’s fault. You made the decisions you made. This is only one side of the story. Jay need to give him a hug or something.
I wondered why would NYMag be interested in doing a interview with this guy. When I saw the name of the interviewer it hit me. Ben Westhoff. He wrote an review about how American Gangster was mediocre *blank stare* and how Jay is overrated. So ofcourse he would reach out to dehaven for an interview.

SO FUCKING WHAT, FACT IS HOV IS 1 OF THE GOAT ON THE MIC
December 2nd, 2007 at 4:39 am
@ #29 (CR)… is the writer wrong for believing that?
personally I think he went easy on dude his last 2 albums were garbage to me in relation to what he has put out before.
He’s had a few hot verses to me but no crazy ill songs you can’t help but rock wit!
realtalk if jay was makin that many hits today still they wouldn’t be killin his old sh!t on the radio…
I still hear “i’m a hustla baby…” like everyday right alongside that roc boys garbage!
The video part is mos def part of the concept but in relation to what jay said about the similarities in him and frank lucas which drew him to create this album the title might not be the same but those people in the video represent someone (subliminally or not) and the writer was simply askin dude if he was one of the people being represented… as a “roc boy”
personally I though it was him , big, and dame… but other think its him nas, and diddy cause they’re in the video… who knows!
December 2nd, 2007 at 8:59 am
its obvious that there were no real “rocboys” back in the day. thats just for album hype and sales, and it worked. its a celebration, when a nigga makes a banging song-whether its actual fact or storytelling its all the same to the people.
in a world where every rapper is a scarface type drug kingpin, serial killer, bank robber , u got the nerve to say jayz is the one thats exaggerating. the reason we fuck wit hov is cuz he doesnt exaggerate to the extent the rest do.
he’s made it so that people who try to come out from his past and expose him still cant touch him cuz he’s above it, if dehavens storys were really true would anyone care? thats like tryin to shoot down a space shuttle, thats not an ordinary plane u shooting at, he’s way too high for you to reach
December 2nd, 2007 at 11:36 am
there is no loyalty when money is involved. . .
December 2nd, 2007 at 5:42 pm
i hear a lot of excuses people are making for this dude exposing jay-z.. jay has been talkin like he was a kingpin for years now… now his man he grew up w/is finally exposing him and i dont hear nothing but excuses… if it was 50 there would be a hundred blogs talking about how fake 50 is.. lol u people kill me.. a bunch of jay dickriders
December 2nd, 2007 at 6:46 pm
ya niggas been fooled for mad long now that this nigga and others been exposing him slowly ya catching feelings and he calling niggas snitches to get him caughtup in some shit in the street. but he know he cant come back to brooklyn for being a fraud he gonna get popped no matter how many security guards he have,he just got g checked no one believes him.fuck gay-z.
December 3rd, 2007 at 7:32 am
All that hatin from Dehaven and he ain’t made a dime yet off his dumb a** project. Gone holla out 2 major companies throw’n numbers but he might go independent. If anybody even watches this bullsh*t it’s straight up bootleg. He better off selling them dvd’s like he used to sell crack. But looking @ his hustling tactics he won’t be very successful. L70ser.
December 3rd, 2007 at 10:28 am
i agree with RTNY, everybody embellishes, hell, u have to be able to tell a good story.
dehaven needs to fall back, all that hating is bad for his health, seriously.
December 3rd, 2007 at 11:09 am
Niggas aint in the game so they practice hate.
December 3rd, 2007 at 11:49 am

December 3rd, 2007 at 12:18 pm
YO, REAL TALK HERE….
I know of both of these cats and who hustled what. Back then, niggas didn’t know who was going to make it past 25. Jay wasn’t the biggest dealer, but he did slang. Haven and other cats put dude on and dude just got real good at what he do. Jay used to go outta town, come back, ball out in the clubs, spit in the PJ’s and hit the road again. His raps got real good and dudes wanted Jay to spit on records. Jay didn’t want to spit, he wanted to hustle because it was easier.
Point is, Jay made it out the hood and this dude is still holding a grudge. If Jay owes him something he owes us something. I ain’t mad at Jay for flippin’ his birds into bizness deals. I’m mad at myself for not being as smart as dude.
December 6th, 2007 at 11:41 am
Dehaven is not hold a grudge because Jay has money ! why is it so hard for people to leaven money out of it ? IS everyone that shallow , where we have no substance anymore? Jay Z says a lot of stuff that he doesnt hold true to , Like Marcy dont raise no Rats? then Jay Z allows a guy that put people away (sent then to jail) to work for him and provided him with housing ???? Then Jay Z claims to be a super drug lord ? He couldnt sell a nick or a dime rock in Marcy in the 80’s or 90’s and then you have a guy like Dehaven risk his own life to protect Jay and when Dehaven gets a federal beef Jay Z runs like a scared bitch? and all these people leaving these sad comments
December 6th, 2007 at 1:07 pm
Did Dehaven Caven? I dont know if Jay Z is playing word games or not he is a word master! Yet everyone I know said Dehaven is an Official Dude , I even asked people locked up with Emory Jones and Emory is speaks well of Dehaven and Emory is doing numbers like Sudoku , check Dehavens interview with Chris Howard from BET http://www.de-haven.com

I spoken with De-have several times. Each time I let him know that I have a great deal of RESPECT for jay. but right is right or should i say real is real. You see it’s obvious alot of you kats don’t understand the era in which they came from. This hustle/hip-hop thing as ya’ll know it was molded from that era.It was the cornerstone to our struggle.so with that said,it was a set of unwritten rules in place.Your word was your bond, don’t snitch, your man(s)was your fam.etc,etc.it was understood that who ever escaped poverty would lookout for his fam trapped in it.So for jay to profit off of his experiences a hustler, and not pay homage to De-have who played a major role in that hustle is equal to not keeping it acurate.fuck keeping it real.Respect the struggle and everything attached to it.I respect the fact that jay made $omething out of nothing.Keep doing your thing jay.but you& De-have..have a REAL history so work that out amongst ya’ll. I miss that era.those was good/hood times…”if hustling fractures the law, well huuhhhhhhhhhhhhhh break um or go BROKE!!!!!!peace fam
