  4. King of Southside Says:

at the end of the day it is just entertainment but i will admit listening to rap makes me think differently, makes me a lil more ignorant

  5. illinois Says:

i kinda feel what he saying….i take everything rappers say with a grain of salt anyway…dont believe what you hear..believe half of what you see

  6. Myke Wayne Says:

I can’t honestly say anything to combat dude.
    I see it daily
Manage a store and trust, these niggas do imitate this shit.
I mean, they did single out some of the worst that they could find i.e. Nas,
But what about the hidden lyrics,
    The shit that sticks too?
Ween I say I see it, I mean grown men and women who talk crazy as shit towards anything or anybody constructive.
I digg the video, keep it up

  7. Skee Says:

loooooooooooooooooooooooooool, smh toooo funnny… lil 10 year old talkin bout real and fake lolololol this shit real greezy conclusion?:: trying to kill hip-hop officialy

dumbasses sayin they only listen to the beat then saying the songs have influences on them.. wtf smh again

if u aint pushin this lambo u aint nuttin?, how many niggas pushin lambos?

i feel like smackin this nigga for aimin at hip-hop like that lol

  8. Skee Says:

but realtalk,, music stretches your outter space sense like i be bumpin jay-z and always hear sumtin new in the same track.. shits crazy

  9. m Says:

    Self Destruction

God Forbid if Mel Gibson Kills someone in a movie

    Its Just Entertainment

  10. Wordlife Says:

it was a good idea but it came across like he was hating…and at the same time a 6th 7th grader opinion is easy to sway…as you can see…they dont listen to the lyrics cause they in 6th and 7th grade…they dont buy cds…they get free lunch.

  11. 2cents Says:

Man I wish i could see this, damn the firewalls!

  12. jumbo Says:

DUDE SAID NUTHING BUT THE TRUTH. IT’S LIKE RAPPERS GOT US BRAINWASH. THEY STEADY TALKING DOWN ON US LIKE WE NOBODY. BUT YET WE STILL BUMP THEM. I DUNNO CRAZY

  13. A dime a dozen Says:

How is he hating? He was only stating what rappers, their music & it’s adherents refuse to hear. & the truth hurts.

The dichotomy between entertainment & reality is an ambiguous subject because you have these artists who say oh ‘it’s just for fun, it’s fantasy, not real’, & then when they’re album comes out there like this album is a ‘reflection of my life & my experiences & listening to this album will get a sneek peek of who i am’ & blah, blah….the whole hip hop game is just one big ass, ginormous CONTRADICTION.

  14. A FAN OF NAS Says:

I MEAN JUS PIC SOME OF THESE RAPPERS WITH OUT MONEY AND BEFORE THEY BEGIN RAPPIN THEN WHAT………….NOW LET’S GET REALLY REAL YA KNOW……….UMMMM LIKE N.W.A.,50 CENT,SNOOP DOGG, THA GAME AND MUCH MORE!! REAL CRIMINALS JUS PUTTING WHAT THEY WOULD AND WILL OR EVEN WHAT THEY ARE DOIN ON A CD IT’S JUS A WAY 2 STAY OUT OF TROUBLE………SO LEAVE RAP MUSICK ALONE REAL MUTHAFUCKIN TALK

  15. BRACK MAN Says:

    I SEE:

    http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/7060/crackks3.jpg

    WE DEPRESSED!

  16. B Says:

My man was mad live with the kids. I’m just happy the kids had something to say and appeared to be very knowledgeable. It all goes back to this at the end of the day:

“Keep them god damn babies out the street.” – Doughboy

  17. Darius Sinclair™ Says:

This video isn’t asking you how YOU feel about rappers, but rather our kids. These little shorties are influenced by the black faces on TV and in the media. So when a majority of the black or brown faces on TV are rapping about negativity, then that’s going to be what influences most of our kids.

Luckily, most of these kids have protective parents (private school uniforms). But take this session to a public school in the poverty struck areas. See the difference in their responses.

  18. ns_dip514 Says:

Fuck The Kids..They Aint The Future!! lol

At the end of the day, its just entertainment…

  19. Fred Says:

    INTERESTING

  20. CORE Says:

AGREE 100% I been sayin this for the longest, and now the kids starting to see it too. Almost everybody in hiphop lies about that stuff and the few that keep it “real” no one really listens to them because they stupid ass radio stations want to play all the songs about drugs, money and hoes…I blame the entire community not just the rappers but the radio and media and all them..

  21. T Taverniti Says:

    come on now.
you cant say “its just entertainment”, cause you kno damn well that entertainment is way more influential than anything else.
no matter if its a movie or a song, people are influenced by the media and entertainment.
    especially the naive.

  22. Kala Nation Says:

#18 NIP DIP SHIT STOP COONING YOU CLOWN!JOKE ASS DICK RIDERS WITH THESE IDIOT RAPPERS DICKS IN THEIR MOUTH IS THE PROBLEM!!

  23. 17th Says:

yo wtf is this dude a private school talking about cocaine sex hoes and about if a rapper life style is real or not he has a point but why the fuck would u go 2 a school and talk about this talk 2 adults about this matter and like jay said its just entertainment!!!!!!!!!

  24. Jozzy Says:

    dat was pretty powerful,

  25. turkey Says:

They’re pretty smart dumb kids. If they know the difference why let what you think is wrong conform you.

    it’s just entertainment… it’s only music

  26. snappycrap Says:

cause u all damn stupid its just entertainment may be u guys got weak hearts.i can’t believe that u guys were that ignorant not to realise it was entertainment.

  27. HAHAHAHAHAHA Says:

THE FUNNY THING ABOUT THIS IS THERE SHOULD BE NO DEBATE ABOUT IF ITS REAL OR FAKE ANY OF THE ARTIST THEY NAMED WILL TELL YOU THAT “ITS JUST ENTERTAINMENT” CAUSE THATS WHAT IT IS

BUT BEING THAT ALOT OF US ARE FROM THE HOOD WE CAN RELATE TO THE FORM OF ENTERTAINMENT CALLED “HIPHOP” AND WE START LOOKING AT IT AS SOMETHING ELSE…

WHEN A RAPPER GETS ON AN INTERVIEW AND SAYS “IM NOT A RAPPER THIS IS WHAT I REALLY DO” THATS JUST ANOTHER PART OF ENTERTAINMENT…HES PLAYING A ROLE

WHY DO U THINK THE 50 CENT POST GET THE MOST COMMENTS??? BECAUSE WHAT HE SAYS IS “ENTERTAINING” WHETHER U LIKE HIM OR NOT ITS ENTERTAINING AND IF IT WASNT THEN YOU WOULDNT CARE ENOUGH TO EVEN WRITE A COMMENT….

WHY DO U THINK LIL WAYNE COMES OFF AS “CRAZY” (WHEN HES REALLY SMART) BECAUSE ACTING CRAZY IS “ENTERTAINING”

AT THE END OF THE DAY ONLY THE “FOOLS” THINK THIS IS REAL…LIKE CAMRON SAID ON HIS NEW MIXTAPE “THIS IS THE NEW WWF”

  28. Stand Up Says:

50 CENT IS A FRAUD!!! BIGGEST FRAUD OF THEM ALL!!!

JAY-Z IS ANOTHER FRAUD WHO BRAGS ABOUT NOTHING BUT EXCLUSIVE 500,000 MAYBACHS, 5,000 DOLLAR BOTTLES OF CHAMPAGNE, 10 MILLION DOLLAR YACHTS, VACATIONS IN MONACO, ETC. INSTEAD OF ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO BE REAL AND DO SOMETHING WITH THEIR LIVES, BE IT SCHOOL OR BUSINESS WISE THIS JAY Z DUDE IS HERE BRAGGING TO HIS LISTENERS ABOUT HOW HE IS A BOSS… SMH

  29. White Bread.......... Says:

fuck #4 #12 #13…. attacking hiphop again if ya don’t like listening to hiphop, n ya think that it has a bad influence on kid, n ya think that it making you more of a ignorant n negitive person, then flip to a different channel at the same time keep your mothafuckin kids away from listening n watching the hiphop music channel, becuz it obvious that if this dude is talking to a bunch of 4th n 5th grader about rap music, shit that these kids are not suppose to listen to if they have a problem with it, then i have got to say to this video is wack n i disagree with them, dude picking on 50′ Nas’ n T.I’ when those are strikly hiphop artist, what about gucci mane’ soula’ boy’ hurricane chris’ ja rule’ lil boosie….there just trying to bring hiphop down, for me i don’t give a fuck what these rappers rap about, there doing there job as rappers making music n getting there money fans buy it, it either music or back to the streets, i also feel that by this time if kids still do what they see on T.V then they should get bitch slack for it, they should no better by now it only music your own character in rap n entertainment most is not real, n i don’t care how real rappers are it still music n entertainment, cuz if the violent shit that these rappers were spittin was real 90% of the rappers would be in jail basically.

  30. whoa Says:

listen to ghost new cd. he was talkin about 50 on that cali concert skit

  31. bullish Says:

co-sign 27. when they say “it’s only entertainment” its true.

of course on record they say its “real” but again its part of the role. cam’ron is def right when he says its the new wwf. like he put out all those weird ass videos (i.e. pool, cops) to help develop further his character of being a weirdo. same with wayne making those crazy ass faces on the xxl cover, its the character he has created and is acting. rappers continue to say its “real” on the record because on the songs he is playing the character, on the media they are out of character and saying its entertainment.

i always thought it was interesting how rap is the only genre where people take on names. obviously in pop and rock there are exceptions (Madonna, Bono) but rap its like everyone gives themselves a name and play that character. when jay-z is on a record he talks about selling coke, pimping whatever, because he is speaking as jay-z. but in interviews and stuff you see how much more intelligent he sounds because in those times he is sean carter the mogul, entrepreneur, etc.

its stupid to say that they are “hypocrites” because its really missing the point. not to beat a dead horse, but its like (obviously overused example) scarface the movie. if you asked tony montana if he kills and sells coke then the answer is going to be yeah i do that shit. it would be pretty dumb to ask al pacino if he did that. the fact that artists continue to blur the line only helps create a better listening experience. one of the reasons lil wayne is dope (to me) is because you feel like he is kinda batshit crazy like he sounds on songs.

  32. Born N Raised in Nigeria Says:

sorry to say, no am not sorry to say that there is alot of ignorant, uneducated, no future, useless, good for nothing, people on this comment list. if can’t learn something from this word of wisdom coming out of a brother’s mouth and those little kids, i think you are a dead man walking. you can’t handle the truth and that’s why alot of black people are in jail for something stupid, like acting out what they hear or saw, trying to be cool/ y’all niggers ain’t shit!

  33. White Bread.......... Says:

fuck #20 #21 #22 #27 #28……if ya have a problem with these hiphop artist, n ya have a problem with hiphop being called entertainment instead of real, then way don’t ya make your own real hiphop music for your ownself fuckin self, n keep it to your ownself that way you can apreciate your own music….i think hiphop can be what ever it wants wheather it called entertainment’ real’ fake’ ingorant’ gangsta’ hardcore’ or whatever if ya don’t believe in these rappers then don’t listen to them period.

  34. hood Says:

fuck up white cracker. fuck ya’ll people judging these rappers. at the end of the day guns don’t kill people, people kill people. its your decision to listen to rap, your decision to take it however you want it. if you stupid enough to even want to live like a street nigga then thats your own fault. so shut the fuck up real talk ny. dumb niggas tryna cause controversy over rap. YOU DUMBFUCKS.

  35. Daddy, why we wearin t-shirts in the wintertime?(sherain) Says:

Aside from the Stop Snitching, I think that this is a bunch of bull

    1) Of all the people u ask, ur gonna ask naive children who dont have fully developed minds let alone minds of their own…When a child see a “teacher”, they’re gonna think that what he saying is right…If T.I. or 50 Cent where there, I’m sure they would have been agreeing with everything they say…THEIR CHILDREN

2)I don’t think ALL rappers are hypocrites… Just because they rap in the present tense doesn’t mean they’re living what they’re saying at that moment…They’re just recollecting their past…If a rapper never led the life in which they rapped about in their songs EVER, then thats being fake…Theyre just expressing themselves as does every artist even beyond music, like painters and poets.

    3) I think that guy is a rapper..He’s probably just one of those concious rappers thats bitter because no one will ever care about him nor buy his CD…& is just looking for validation and the easiest way to do that is through children

  36. HAHAHAHAHAHA Says:

#32 “WHITE BREAD” MUST BE SNIFFING WHITE POWDER..CAUSE HE JUST SAID FUCK ME…AND THEN BASICALLY AGREED TO EVERYTHING I WROTE…

    WHAT A FOOL

  37. Tonythetiger Says:

Truth is rappers say they are just trying to shed light on what goes on in their hoods but most of the time they perpetuate and glorify the hood mentality and killing that goes on there. Rappers rap to make money period. They will say whatever they have to to get record companies attention, and if in 5 years more people like the lupe fiasco type rapper rather than the 50 cent type rapper then we will be seeing more JON HOPE’s running around (dude is wack by the way). America loves violence and as long as the actual killings and dealings stay in the black ghettoes everything is C-O-O-L.

You don’t have to stop listening to gangsta rappers rap but you CAN stop buying their albums. Money speaks waaaay louder than words, ask 50 cent.

  38. White Bread.......... Says:

#33 hood’….’fuck up white cracker’ your mother is

  39. roni Says:

great video…i bet u agreed with 99% of what he said…it really does make u think

  40. Tonythetiger Says:

Ever wonder why rappers make the best actors?

  41. 100% trill Says:

    50 and TI is fake

  42. White Bread.......... Says:

#27…i actually didn’t agree with you…if your so call from the hood n you view hiphop as entertainment, or if you think folk from the hood view hiphop as entertainment instead of real…then you must not be from the hood cuz hood nigga view hiphop as real music not entertainment…but im sure your just one of those really smart 12 year old kid who really want to be hood but your not….your from the white side just like me.

  43. 50 and TI is fake but i got to admit they do have way more money then me. Says:

    #38 i actually don’t agree.

  44. 2cents Says:

in the name of “blackness and being hood/ghetto” we defend some of the dumbest sh!t.

It’s not entertainment, it’s an influence! Art imitates life which imitates art if you’re smart enough to figure out which is the driving force…

And for all the people screamin it’s entertainment they’re the same people who will quote most the things heard stated in that form of entertainment as if it’s fact… so at that point it it fact or not? Perception is a motha…

men lie, women lie, and NUMBERS DO TOO!

a billion cent vs. 5 million dollars which would you rather have?

Me, neither i rather have my people!!!

  45. White Bread Says:

#43, get the hell outta here with your corney ass post,

  46. Stand Up Says:

Ever wonder why rappers make the best actors?

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Actually rappers are garbage at being actors. What you wrote couldn’t be farther than the truth. When Al Pacino, Robert DiNiro, Joe Pesci, Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman start rapping then come and tell me the same thing you typed previously. Maybe then I’ll believe you then. There are very few classic movies that have rappers as the main roles. As far as rappers turned actors go only Ice Cube, Will Smitch, and Mos Def are very good and have been successfull. All the other rappers can’t act for shit and they should stick to making music.

  47. HAHAHAHAHAHA Says:

LOL WHITE BREAD IM HOOD NIGGA IM NOT “WHITE” IM ACTUALLY AFRICAN SO IM AS BLACK AS THEY COME…BUT OF COURSE U THINK ITS NOT ENTERTAINMENT AND ITS REAL..BECAUSE YOUR WHITE…YOUR THE #1 TARGET

EVERY ARTIST WILL TELL YOU THAT THE PEOPLE WHO BUY THE MOST CD’S ARE WHITES FROM THE SUBURBS (THAT MEANS YOU!!!) BECAUSE YOUR INFACTUATED WITH THE LIFESTYLE THAT YOU NO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT!!!!

IM AS HOOD AND BLACK AS THEY COME HOMIE YOU CAN HOLLA AT ME AT “QUEENSDIPLOMAT04@AOL.COM” ILL SEND U MY MYSPACE NAME YOU COULD ADD ME AS A FREIND AND CHECK OUT MY PICS AND SEE THAT I HAVE MORE GUNS THAN T.I. WAS TRYING TO BUY…

IM FROM SOUTHSIDE JAMAICA QUEENS…YOU PROBABLY FROM LAGUNA BEACH…SO KEEP BUYING CD’S AND GOING TO HIP HOP CONCERTS (IF YOU NOTICE MOST HIPHOP CONCERTS ARE FILLED WITH WHITES…WHICH IS WHY CHAMILLIONAIRE DECIDED TO STOP SAYING NIGGER ON HIS NEW ALBUM…HIS EXACT WORDS WERE “I HATE RAPPING AT A CONCERT AND SEEING NOTHING BUT WHITE PEOPLE RECITING MY LYRICS BECAUSE WHEN I SAY “NIGGER” THEY SAY IT TO AND THAT BOTHERS ME)

DONT GET IT TWISTED I LOVE HIP HOP BUT I UNDERSTAND THERES A FINE LINE BETWEEN REALITY AND ENTERTAINMENT!!!

  48. Afrochic Says:

good to see somebody is showing these kids some reality.

  49. 2cents Says:

    @ yeast boy……….. no comment!

*like this niggas posts some prolific sh!t, I see this nigga jus wants to get f’ed up though by the way he tryin to go at anyone. nigga went to 50’s school of notariety…lol*

  50. Stand Up Says:

Not to mention TI and 50 cent are some of the worse actors to have the privilege of being on a movie screen. ATL was a decent movie though.

  51. 2cents Says:

@ 45 (stand up)sorry but Pac was nice at it too! can definately hold his own with Cube. Will is on another level but it may be due to his choice of movie too. Mos is jus a beast a true talent in many forms of entertainment!

  52. George, reppin Raleigh Says:

i like the meaning behind the video…. but the audience he’s speaking to isn’t really old enough to be able to buy, listen, or understand the hip-hop music….. he should have stepped it up alittle and discussed this issue with high schoolers or even better anybody off the street or random stranger 18 or older…. these middle schoolers only know what they heard from parents and television

  53. Stand Up Says:

For one, he is right about the majority of these rappers exaggerating about what they do or have done. However there are tons of positive rappers, and I hope you people criticizing rap are not making generalizations by saying all of it is negative, because that is far from the truth. The issue is BET/MTV and local radio stations only choosing to play the negative rap.

Why don’t they play more common,Mos, Nas (his positive songs, which are 80% of his catalog), Lupe on BET and MTV? I mean there can be a middle ground though, rap doesn’t have to be all positive and backpack. Theres nothing wrong with rap when you telling a story about what goes in in your hood, however encouraging those things that go on is not right, and people like 50 cent and TI are responsible for this.

  54. kidd Says:

    lol^^…

  55. Stand Up Says:

Oh yeah 2 cents my bad I forgot PAC.. I didn’t do that intentionally, Pac was one of the best rapper turned actors out there because he played different characters in his films. Not just rappers or someone in the hood. Pac is up there with Will Smith as far as acting goes. Pac played everything from a detective to a junkie even though he was only in like 5 movies. Gridlocked, Juice, and Gang Related are great Pac movies and some of my favorite.

  56. kidd Says:

my bad i was agreein with 44

  57. ignite mindz Says:

This was a good idea. I love gangster rap, but you dont hear Al Pacino sayin yeah thats just a movie but thats really how I get down! Its good to know 6th graders see through the bullshit

  58. comment poster smacka Says:

man yall got the rap game confused like a mother fucka…if rappers admit to half the shit they rap about.. they would be doing life with out parol..fame and fortune force niggas to live another live, they cant live that old life they use to live..so they live it out in their music with out the risk of going to jail…do you think al pochino is fake for selling drugs in scarface, and being a family man at home.. hes and entertainer just like your favorite rapper..if you dont like scary movies dont buy it, get yo as a comedy movie..and stay the fuck out of the scary movie section.. dont hate on the actor for making you scared..thats why its parental advise, gangster rap is for niggas like me that loves to hear that shit. cause im living the life they are rapping bout..they make money to entertain niggas like me, cause they are former street niggas that entertains their old peers….not yall, so stop getting rap music confused with realng it out in real life…cause once you get famous its rap for the street life as a rapper.. unless your dumb as hell…denzel was an ex street nigga turned actor, so why ti, and 50 cant be ex street nigga turned rapper..you got actors, and you got rappers…they both entertainers..

  59. mas Says:

    JAY-Z SAID IT BEST:

” And now you got these young cats acting like they slung cats All in they dumb rap, talking about how they funds stack When I see them in the street, I don’t see none of that Bad playboy, where the fuck is the hummer at? Where is all the ice with all the platinum under that? Those ain’t rolex diamonds, what the fuck you done to that? Y’all rapping-ass niggas, y’all funny to me. “

  60. SAM FROM THE BAY Says:

i’m really feeling this discussion of the RAP/Hip Hop industry.

this video should get some exposure. I really like the 7 minute mark and after where it gets down to the nitty gritty bout the music and how it does influence children and teenagers these days.

  61. Kala Nation Says:

The real problem is White people listening to hip hop. They love black on black violence and ignorance. Then diss something positive, like what white bread just said to 2cent.Real talk

  62. SwizzE Says:

Finally! we all thought and sayd this for the longest, respect to the dude to help kids see it for what it really is!
it is entertainemt, it has just become crap. major companys sign the most stupid ignorant mc s, mtv plays the most brain-dead stuff, cmon you know who run s these companys.
they dont give a f… about the youth or why they ll end up dead or in jail. it actually is theyr final plan.

remember when we used to say peace. . . .
    one

  63. White Bread Says:

I’m White Bread And I Gotta Admit .. I’m GAY!
Yeahh I’m Coming out The Closet And I Closed The Door!

  64. big_watcher Says:

Us black folk (kids and adults) are like sheep. We just need a good shepherd to lead us to replace the evil shepherd we have right now – RAPPERS.

This dude is a good shepherd, but he (and others of his type) need to follow through with an alternative to the the HIPHOP we have right now.

  65. Pounce Says:

This isnt gonna do anything. Parents need to be having these conversations.

  66. T2 Says:

There are alot of hyprocitical people in this debate including fans who criticize the rappers they hate and idolize the rappers they love and defend what they say in there raps.

The critics only focus on the negatives and not the positive in the lyrics of rap so they are hyprocriticle people aswell.

Why dont they ask the kids a real question like why do you listen to someone like 50 and T.I. instead of Common or Kweli who have totally different raps. They dont have to listen to 50 nobody is forcing them to so why are they criticising what they listen to they are as bad as the rappers.

  67. bolu Says:

dude iz plain stupid, trynnay manipulate da minds of lil kinds and shit

  68. Moneyovaeverything Says:

I Like The 50 snippet they played

  69. DIRTY.DUNNZ Says:

Artists sing about many lifestyles and experiences in first person all the time. When Curtis Mayfield talked about being your “Pusher Man”, was he fake or telling a story? Marvin Gaye was married when he sang to Tammi Terrell “Ain’t no mountain high enough to keep me from you.” Was he fake?

The question of being fake has to be put in context, because under the same standards…practically no artist who ever sang is real. Artists have always told stories first person. Obviously, a lot of the tough talk is fake…but is it? You’ve got a lot of rappers going to jail and getting shot for their involvement in hood activities.

I don’t think we give rappers the same artistic license to speak about experiences (their own or not) as other artists receive. Johnny Cash had an outlaw image just as many rappers have, today. He sang “I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.” Yet, he’s considered one of the greatest of all time among “artists”. When rappers (young black men) use the same poetic justice then it is seriously scrutinized.

  70. Mickey Kane Says:

    The fuck?

The thing that made me not take this whole argument seriously, is WHO he presented that argument to.

A bunch of naive school children. Did anyone notice how he used them to manipulate his argument? Lol. Fuckin’ clown.

And why does everytime one of these Hip-Hop vs. The World videos come up, they ALWAYS use the tired ol’ strategy of getting the most extreme examples of negative Hip-Hop music, instead of at least highlighting the negative aswell as the positive.

The main reason this shit is going on, is because people pay attention to the sensationalist aspect of Hip-Hop. What the fuck do y’all expect? I mean, for every 50 Cent, there’s a Common. For every T.I., there’s a Lupe Fiasco but because the ‘negative’ rappers are the ones with the most shine, some how they’ve become representatives of Hip-Hop culture when that shouldn’t be the case.

  71. SorryTellTHE TRUTH Says:

    KIDS ARE NOT STUPID!

  72. Loc Says:

I disagree with most of the comments that old boy was trying to make. Anyone watching this can see how he is trying to push his opinion on 6th and 7th graders. I think that most rappers who talk about selling drugs are merely revisiting a time in their life and describing their mindset at that time. Old dude said he went to prison for awhile but 10 years down the road he can make a song about it in present tense and it would be respected because that was something he went through and it has a bearing on why he is the way he is today. The main artists that were mentioned are artist who give you a look at various things they have been trough or done, positive and negative, good and bad.

I have to addess the point he thought he was making about rappers trying to belitte people who dont have lambos and expensive things. To me it sounds like dude is hating. Songs and music about getting money are motivational to me. If a rapper is clowning people about being broke I think its a good thing cause maybe that will make somebody get up and do somthing instead of trying to get a handout. They are not telling you to sell drugs. They are telling you to get up and do something to genearte money. You can never have too much money. This is the United States of America, the land of opportunity and people need to quit making excuses and expecting someone to give them something and go get it.

Finally I gotta address the stop snitching. Let me break down what a snitch is cause people are not really understanding it. If I see someone shoots one of my family members and I tell the law then that aint snitchin. If I sell drugs and I get caught and tell on other people that are selling drugs or doing other illegal activity to get my sentence reduced then that is snitching.

  73. Loved it great video Says:

Great video makes you think of how Hip-Hop as change over the years from the Tribe Called Quiest to Krs-one to know all you have to do is look at the videos from back in the days when the music had substance and was feeding your mind.
I am in my 30’s and I grew up with the music and some of this hip-hop is fake or just not real we need to look back at the history of the music and were came from. I remember listen to X-Clan , P.E. N.W.A. and who they thought me about my history and how to stand up for yourself . I miss the art of story telling. Listen to a old Tribe ablum anyone I am sure you well get it.
All I have to say is I love hip-hop and will always however some where alomg the years something happen and it has never been the same. A white rapper the only white rappers I knew and respect were 3base. No one wanted to do anything with hip-hop back in the days they saying it was just a thing that would not last and here it is still . ya got to look at wat the rappers is doin too. some rappers is fake, but other rappers fo real did the shit they say they did. listen to tip’s music, yea he say he still dealin and he talk about his past. the thing is, that he is still dealin, but not as much. he still got guns. if you sayin tip is fake he aint. the name on the mail might have changed but he still dealin and shootin, maybe not like when he was young, but he still doin it. and you cant say shit cuz he was arrested earlier this fall. they found guns and pounds in his car. go back two-3 years ago when he was arrested for dealin and gun possesion. you can just say a rapper is fake cuz they dont do it anymore cuz you dont know how they living. do you know if they still sellin? also listen to the dam lyrics, a lot of em say if you talk more shit about me or insult me, then see what happens. they aint sayin i kill and fight, they sayin i will, or id woop they ass. listen to the lyrics, read about the rapper. you gonna have to get to know em to see if they fake.

  85. Tee Tee Says:

    BTW…

I love Hip-Hop preferably the kind that I don’t/won’t have to die over. You know, that real stuff. We need more of these “Rappers” to promote living for a change. Know one wants to die.

Shots out to all those who refuse to allow such ignorance live in there minds. Bigger shots out to those who teach us to flee from that negative type of life style.

    HANSON 4RM NIGERIA

  89. Storm90057 Says:

I stated this on another post but this is an aeample of what i said before. Yall niggas blind because most of you are brainwashed with the HIP HOP CULTURE… Its music / entertainment.. Sure fashion plays a part and slang and a level of coolness but some of you are so brainwashed you really think your life rally around it. I grew up on hip hop and I used to love it but I don’t need 22’s on my whip.. You know how many peeps told me I should put some rims on my car.. like I care about that shit. I don’t think its cool to go to jail or if you did time.. I don’t think it’s cool to watch a freestyle battle and hear two rappers talk about how the gonna murder their opponent. I don’t think it’s cool to talk about how much drugs you sell or use or how many women you knocked off. It’s played on the radio and videos so much that most of you think it’s the way life should be. You buy the fresh whip for status reasons before you buy a house. These are the same people that yell “FREE T.I.” or say SMOKE WEED EVERYDAY.. Now there are some positive rappers but how many do you see getting regular play on the radio or video and how many positive rappers go platinum? This is the message going out to kids and adults and that’s why you have so many replies attacking Mr. Whitelock’s opinion. If you telling me ENTERTAINMENT doesn’t influence people, then you out of your damn mind.. I don’t care if it’s Hip-Hop or Hollywood you can clearly see that it’s affecting people. I saw a documentary and there were people in Asia with the baggy pants and the urban gear throwing up gang signs.. I WONDER WHERE THEY GOT THAT FROM? I shake my head at what some of my brothers and sisters become.. Materialistic, gangsters, and brain-dead…. GROW UP!

  90. yoyo Says:

homie 2pac wernt fake. i do think these days most of the rappers are fake like 50 cent

  91. CZA Says:

There’s no reason for negativity in music. End of story.

  92. 2cents Says:

@ 81 (da dumb one)what image is master p selling though and for what purpose? out of all the crews his was notorious for really puttin in work and getting indictments… not to say thats whats up but it’s what it is.

Personally I see real hood dude tryin to put out a different image for his lil soldiers to look up to. (not jus to cave in and be a house nigga), but I would like to hear your perspective.

*** in the name of “blackness and being hood/ghetto” we defend some of the dumbest sh!t.

  93. frank Says:

this is some real talk..the only sad part is that these 7th graders are smarter then half of the people who post on this site.

  94. KG Says:

They better worry about SAT getting into college instead of these fuck boy rappers. White kids are preparing for college & careers.

  95. werdzwerth Says:

To me this seems to be a classic case of people being able to seperate fantasy from reality. People have brought this up by movies ala scareface etc. Even bringing in another medium into the argument would be video games there was a big uproar when Mortal Kombat first appeared about kids in this same demographic not being able to discern fantasy from reality. Sometimes people take a childs understanding for granted. People are hating on 50 for being fake but to me dude is pretty genuine. He is one of the few rappers ive ever heard make this disction between 50 the rapper and Curtis though he kinda blurred the line now by naming his last cd curtis.. lol He was talking about smoking weed how he does not smoke or partake in that but he makes a song about because his fans or friends will be able to smoke along wit that song. He is giving the people what they want and is pretty blantant about it.

  96. Kat Says:

    THAT WAS THE TRUTH!!!

  97. Jizzle Says:

These dude just put they soul up as collateral.
They have to be what they are to pay the bills.
they taken all our black business man and made the drug deals.
whats happening, is their still flooding the hood with thugs drugs and killing. So our rapper which we look up to so much are betraying their own people.

Look at this this way, if you take a dude that has nothin. And you give him tons of money, he will do anything to get that money. And as the saying goes, “If he doesn’t do it someone else will.”

  98. 2cents Says:

    @ #97 (Jizzle)

I like the way you think (on this one atleast)! The real money bought these monkeys out…

black people don’t wanna be professionals cause they don’t believe there are many professionals.

But comin from the hood I see whats really poppin. I know administrators, doctors, lawyers, folks who work in real estate, etc. On top of the athletes and entertainers.

It’s like they put stuff out here for you to only see the bad side i.e. lies like there are more black males in jail than college. Why would they lie about that you say… so young black men give up early and don’t try to aspire to anything real.

In my day they said we would be dead before 25… so at 15 you’re like I got 10 years to get it in… smh…luckily I didn’t throw it all away!

  99. The King Says:

    2cents
i feel you on that one

i dont mind gangsta rappers, ignorant rappers, everyday same ol same ol videos. let them do them
i just wish those things werent the most popular forms of entertainment, i wish there was more variety for kids to choose from.
i have access to all of it so i pick and choose what i want to hear, but kids get fed that bullshit on an hourly basis

and yes its just entertainment, but its more powerful than movies, tvs, videogames. kids dont watch scarface on repeat everyday,on the bus/train. they dont stare at killings on tv all day and listen thru headphones blocking out their surroundings.
music is the most powerful form of entertainment, so when u close your eyes, but in your headphones and zone out, it has an effect.
i’ve given up on preaching that rapper clean it up shit, them niggas didnt give a fuck bout ya’ll when they was slingin crack (those who were) so why would they give a fuck now, they still sellin crack, just packaged on a cd,
    rap game/crack game

Just cuz anoter dude said so and so still DO NOT mean its true.

  102. 95220 Says:

hip hop is my favourite type of music, I really love to listen hip hop but I understand what he says about the children and the wifes… the rappers talk a lot about money bitches clothes…..but they forgot the MUSIC and HIP HOP.that’s why I think, that’s my point of view.
    Peace.

  103. Lola Says:

I did an interview with a gentleman by the name of Rodrigo Bascunan who wrote “Enter the Babylon System: Unpacking Gun Culture from Samuel Colt to 50 Cent. Here are 3 questions that relate real well to this video.

HHC: What about a conversation that you found the most interesting? You guys also spoke with Noam Chomsky I believe.

Yes we did, but I didn’t do that one, Chris did. Another one for me was probably Fat Joe. It was really hard getting any honesty from him on the subject. He had a much distorted opinion about things. I asked him, “why would you need a gun?” One of his rationales was, “what if China decides to invade us?” I said, “if China decides to invade it is not going to be you fighting. It’s going to be people bombing each other, missiles, planes a big mess going on.” It was just really frustrating. I felt like he was so ignorant about it. At the end it was getting more aggressive. We were talking about rappers using this whole “actor/entertainment” defense and I said, “that’s unfair. It’s a lie when you tell your audience that what you do is entertainment. You spend so much time trying to convince people that you are the realest, and then you turn around and say that this is entertainment.” He was really mad at that point. He said, “you know what… before I get the fuck out of here…” and he said it just like that, “this is the answer to all your questions. A rapper is greedy 100 million percent. We just do this for money.” Even though I know that was the truth and it was the type of honesty I was looking for, it was so blunt. Here is one of the guys that we hail up as one of the key figures in our culture, someone I have personally always liked and admired. To say fuck it… this is just a cheque, is so painful to know.

HHC: Yeah, for sure. In his lyrics for “The Way I am” Eminem says “ When a dude’s gettin bullied and shoots up your school/ and they blame it on Marilyn – and the heroin/Where were the parents at?/ and look where it’s at.” In that same sense you guys also mentioned family in your book. You actually mention the percentages of crimes committed by delinquents that come from single-parent families, families where the father is incarcerated or murdered, etc.

That was the point that we were trying to make, that you have to look at these people as people before you look at them as hip-hoppers. You have to dissect them as you would any psychological case. The predetermining factor towards a propensity for gun violence is seeing it. If you see gun violence, that increases the odds of you getting involved in it. Those are the things that form people. The fact that you are a hip-hopper is completely irrelevant. It’s your experiences that count.

HHC: There was also another point that I wanted to make about something you mentioned in the book. How a black artist picking up a gun was seen different – more as a criminal – than James Bond is seen when picking up a gun.

When people see James Bond they see a totally fictional figure because they understand that… well when I say people, I should say Caucasian people. They understand their own whiteness and the complexity of their ethnicity. They see James Bond as a character, not as a reflection of their society. When they see a poster of 50 Cent, they don’t have the same depth of understanding for black culture, so they see it as a representation of blackness, not as a character that represents a tiny sliver… or even as a fictional character. They can’t distinguish that and there is a lot of fear there. That is a major problem in North America, the lack of understanding of the black community and the fear and the racism that comes from both of those things.

  104. Huey P. Says:

Yeah he’s a rapper, he’s on myspace. People callin him “The Rap Terrorist” lol. there’s music and some more audio of him talkin on his website too. http://www.myspace.com/lavoisiermc and http://www.aomegamusic.com

  105. Dubbs Says:

Real or not? Our young black kids want to be the next 50 cents,T.I,Game, & etc? So when they hear this kind of music? They want to play it out and that’s why we have so many young black murders! Teenagers are fearless and they don’t know what happens a lot of times intil after it happens. Money & ego isn’t what gets you happiness and this is what we promote to our youth black kids. Hip-hop is Tribe Called Quest, Kanye West, Run-dmc. Music should make you feel happy and positive not wanna kill somebody…….

  106. Pfolure Says:

This piece was well done and it was “real”. This is an example of how smart the youth are. We take them for granted but for the most part they can differintiate whats real and whats fake. Im glad that someone took this prospetive on this issue and used it to show the unbalance of mainstream music.

  107. god take over Says:

They rather talk about rappers instead about being next lawyer or doctor. I wouldnt discuss 50 for five minutes in my life.

  108. god take over Says:

Why everybody saying it is just entertainment? Tell me what is so entertaining to see somebody gettin shot in the head? In real life that shit is not entertainment that shit is real. People that is saying it is just entertainment dont have the balls to kill somebody. Now you do it to see if it is entertainment to seeing a mother crying over her child. Think about it!

  109. DC Says:

“Rap is the new WWF” – Talib. Shits so true.

  110. the real young jeezy offical snowman Says:

  111. prodigy of 50 Says:

most rappers dont say they do stuff…instead they say they are ready to do something if the need for it occurs. for instance…in i’ll still kill..50 is saying he wont kill but he will if he has to…i dont think rappers lie..they just expose what an aggressive man can do to maintain his money, power and respect..ya dig

  112. LJ Says:

I think what dude was sayin’ was some real talk..i aint gon’ lie, but are u gonna tell me that he doesnt listen to rap music? Hell nah, and here he is preachin to little kids about how rap music is hypocritcal? He’s a hypocrit. Because u are not going to tell me that he listens to country or heavy metal and get me to believe it..u and i all kno that hes bumpin’ that lil weezy in his car! who isnt!? i mean come on!

  113. Is5812 Says:

Yo has anybody heard this guys music??? Son got a music video and all that…this dude is a rapper himself man.lol…and he aint wack, I’ll give him that much. But he’s probly just tryna get on…I guess 50 taught him how to stunt.

  114. its not right what you are telling these kids Says:

i just wanna tell you that what you are telling these kids isn’t right. if the rapper is effecting them what about what they are watching on tv is that effecting them, the things they have in they schools books as far is social study ect.. is that the true, what about the bible we have today is that the truth. so if you thank the music have in impact on our kids thats wrong. what about the politics democratic the media that stuff that they are feeding these kids is that the truth some of the things you’re said to them bother me. anyway keep trying its a start. help fix up our schools help get better books, playground, library, ect. we need that more jobs for the citizens

  115. Rochelle Says:

@66, The reason why I think most of the youth today don’t listen to Common and Kweli and other rappers of they’re nature because they aren’t advertised as much on tv , radio and magazines unlike the “Radio Rappers” we know very well. So it’s not our fault that we’re not listening to them, its just that we don’t know who they are yet.

  116. DAKIDD Says:

these damn kids don’t know what to think, first one says “We’re not listening to the lyrics, it’s the beat.” Then they say, “Yes, it affects the way I think because I may want to kill someone after the stop dancing to this self afflicting song….these kids need some serious truthful guidance

  117. seba Says:

fuk all those rappers they speakin on gotta get em talking bout how they feel bout the real kats the ones with shit to say

killah priest, canibus , killa army whole wu tang affiliates, the psycho realm just to name a few them kids gotta start playing their shit stop hearing and start listening

  118. 5ivedawg Says:

These are young kids!!! Their whole sense of realism has yet do be decided. This music is aimed at an older crowd (I know EVERY1 hears)so they should get an older audience to critique it. Window shopper is a diss track at JA RULE!

  119. J.B-well Says:

Da dude askin questions confusin’ them lil kids! Its entertainment dats like Will Smith really tryna stop aliens frm invadin’ Earth! And their parents need 2 stop them frm listenin 2 da music or at least get da clean version 4 them.

  120. Paris Says:

I cant believe that people got an attitude about what this dude is telling the kid’s
look he is teaching the kids to be “critical thinkers” that may be a new word to
some of yall but it means to look at a topic from all prospective and make a well
thought out chose. Some of the people sitting here in on this blog need to go out
and educate some of these kids that think this stuff is really and right and let them know
the Truth. Look you tell me don’t snitch when my son cant go out and play because some
hard head wants to run around and shoot someone in front of my house GET OUT OF HERE!
ignorant people get stuck in ignorant loops

  121. JAY Says:

I’m tired of this shit, everytime they talkin bout Hip-Hop is negative, they always pointing the finger at 50….You always see this niggaz pic, or they playin his music….Fuck these people thats trying to stop Hip-Hop…

    http://www.Myspace.com/SilentJayWest

  122. 2 hott Says:

TI aint kno fake rapper….he da KING A DA SOUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  123. Triniboy Says:

Why the hell he dont argue with some people who can actually challenge him intellectually arguing with some 12 year olds isnt much of a trial ,judging from his vernacular his vocabulary doesnt sound too wide.the kids want to sleep

  124. Marcy Says:

Some people view rap music as having a brain washing effect. But the truth of the matter it is dependent on the individual. If someone really feels a musicians status is important than they are misguided. Education and innovation are important. Think about it, where do most of the people end up that find “music”,(of all genres), more important than what the want to accomplish in real life? They usually end up holding a career making 30,000- 40,000 a year. Some people don’t know how to think for themselves and allow music to lead them. This is why someone can justify why there idols consist of non-educated people who make money talking about killing someone.

  125. CICI Says:

50CANT FAKE ASS 2PAC WAS SO REAL BIGGE SMALL BIG PUN NOW REAL RAPPERS ARE T.I,LUPE,NAS,THE GAME..DIGG ME SOME NIGGERZ JUST FAKE ASSSES.BUT RAP RULES DAMN I CANT LEAVE WITH OUT IT MEN

  126. Lovely_NYC Says:

I’m a high school teacher and I witness first hand everyday how the music effects our children. It doesn’t matter how much we discuss the music and how it is just entertainment, these kids always feel that there is a glimmer of hope that somehow they will become a famous rapper or even a professional athlete. Personally, I think that sixth and seventh graders were too young to really understand some of the concepts that were introduced. This would have been really interesting to hear responses from slightly older children, because when they are at that age 14, 15, 16 etc. they begin to actually emulate what they see on television. So the responses would be a little more in depth.

  127. Jay DoubleYou Bee Says:

I’m STILL trying to figure out what’s so cool about being a criminal. Seriously.

Think about it! Oh wait, you can’t. These rappers have us brain brain washed, and ignorance is the only thing you know.
