RealTalkNY Fell Off?
Damn people are never happy, I get more interviews and exclusives then any other blog just based off hustling and cats don’t even appreciate it. What blog you see getting interviews with 50 Cent, Ciara & others on video? People say I don’t post as much, but some days nothing is popping and sometimes I’m on the move trying to get some interviews. I check mad sites daily, most don’t even post as much as me, so I don’t see where the complaints come from. But it’s all good, it is human nature to say everything has fell of, from clothes and TV shows, to websites and mates.
I think the site has improved tremendously and traffic has been on the rise. The editing on videos has gone to another level, and the site now has interviews with some of the top artist in the game. We have writers creating great articles and there are plans for more advancements. Despite the negative comments, the site is only getting bigger and more popular, I must be doing something right.
But if you really feel the site is falling off, feel free to post why here so I can try my best to address the issues.
Shout out to Jigsaw of AllHipHop for giving me some props on my work yesterday.
What some of you people fail to realize is I’m not trying to be like other sites that only post things they saw elsewhere. All the sites people try to compare me too don’t really have any original content. So how can you really compare to sites that have no exclusives at all?

You flipped over what some guy said on your ‘new pics of angel Luv post’? You can’t please everyone in his world all the time. I have no idea when you created the site but I’ve been on it since mid 06, or earlier. The site has a huge fan base because it supplies a need, Hip hop information, but in a way that is different from other sites like Allhiphop or even MTV.com. The name of the site is also easy to remember and leaves an impression. Props on coming up with the name.
The aim of the site, I would imagine, is to entertain; but it could do a better job at educating. I like what you did by working with other writers like Joy Daily and K-Mack, thats great. Have a vision of where you want to go with the site, and have a plan. Never think little of your audience and assume all we like is ass, music, and more ass. You could for example make posts about the actual charities that certain celebrities in the industry participate in and support, that would be interesting. Then when you talk to the actual performer in an interview, and ask them about one of their charities they’ll be surprised, cuz now YOU will stand out from the crowd. Before you know it you’ll either be working for a big news company or purchasing your first office building with investor capital.
Again, I don’t know the first thing about how your day to day activities go, but I think what I said above can be of some help. Stay focused and keep your eye on the prize.

Now on to why you’re falling off. Media is all about the people. Some reporters are the voice of the people and some are stooges to the stars. Either way, you HAVE to pick a side, or no one will know where you stand, and then you’re percieved as wishy washy and respected less. A couple of my highly informative and quite insightful posts had been deleted as of the last couple months since you relaunched. These posts were critical of certain individuals and I tried to re post and again, deleted. Pick a side, industry stooge or voice of the people. I thought I was never gonna post again, but alas here I am. I obviously still dip in, lucky for you.
What is happening to you is akin to the identity crisis that teenagers often go through when coming into adulthood. They realize that they have the power to define who they are, yet realize that they gotta fit in somewhere. And in coming into balance with this starts with extreme confusion. Just pick a side little brother and you’ll be fine, trust me. Congratulations though on your success! Growing pains are just a part of life.

The site hasn’t fallen off but our community’s mentality and also entertainment in general has.
I think it would help to post more up and comer’s videos and some interviews. Maybe Blu and Exile, Papoose, NYG’z, etc… Let folks know about that underground talent as well.
You guys knew (or you should have) when blogs and gossip sites first started to get big that sooner or later people would say they are starting to play out. But there’s always room for some good gossip or I wouldn’t be typing this shit now.

But certain blogspots are updating their info like ten times daily with music, videos and news that you post up hours to a few days later

My only issue is when somebody says some negative shit about a rapper RTNY is a stan of,he deletes the comment.
If he’s not a stan of that artist then he doesn’t care what anybody says about that rapper.If you’re gonna delete negative comments then apply that rule for every rapper/artist regardless of whether you’re a stan of them or not.
In other words,stop showing favoritism and let people expresss themselves freely.I think this this comment will get deleted too,oh well that was just my 2 cents.

I may not agree with everything but I love this site. It’s one of the few sites I go to on a regular basis. Not to mention you’re one in a very very very few that dedicates your stuff to hip hop. Sometimes you have to weed through the shuffle of pointless crack addicted pop stars just to get a little something worth your time. Keep doing what you do, it’s only those that are jealous that are talking mess.

I’m not gonna lie, Realtalk. I used to frequent this site waaaaaaaaaaay more often. Back when your site and smartenupnas.com were both blowing up. At least twice a day I’d hit up realtalkny. But now it’s once a month if that. IMO your site did fall off. You aren’t consistent with the Saturday Night Vixen posts. And a lot of your news is wack. Not gonna explain it in anymore detail. This is just my opinion. But in all fairness, smartenupnas.com fell off way worse then your site so props on that.

I can honestly say you guys are the most up to date hip-hop site I’ve seen out there….and since you did ask for the improvements I would honestly say you guys should do more of a unsigned artists thing more often (i.e like interviews and music instead of just putting there music up) also you guys(& I understand that you are based out of NY) should pub a little more west coast cats also with the music and joints , because weather you guys know it or not your probably one of the top 3or4 most viewed websites for rap…..so the promotion you guys can give can really help out for anybody!!!! But overall letter grade : A-/B+ keep doing what cha doing!!!

some of the things you or your other writers put up…some of the words are misspelled, or they’re grammatically incorrect
i’ve read em at least like…2-3 times. sure it’s minimal, but it’s just something i noticed. not hating on.
also, some of the writing doesn’t really dig deep enough, or they write blogs that i don’t feel strike any emotion or opposing opinions.
oh, and most of the new songs and videos i see on your site… i’ve seen on this one other blog…but they post it up before you.
notably, and recently… the game/nas hustler video… ludacris – down in the dirty…. rick ross – speeding…
