Mos Def Working With Kanye West On A New Album
Rapper Mos Def is working on his debut release for indie label Downtown Recordings, after his major-label swan song died a quick death last year. According to Downtown head Josh Deutsch, Kanye West will produce some tracks on the as-yet-untitled record.
Mos Def last album, “True Magic,” didn’t move over 100k units and was released with no cover art or substantial marketing campaign. 2007 seemed like a quiet year for Mos Def in terms of entertainment, but he was highly vocal with political issues.

mos def is one of the most realest hiphop artist, who is staying true to the game right now, n alot of the quality material that he’s brought out in the pass was real hiphop music that i felt, n with him coming with his next album i no it will keep hiphop on lock n be a great album.
kanye shouldve agreed to do a blackstar album instead, but based on kanyes personal problems right now that project is most likely on hold

1) Mos Def is hands down one of the best MCs ever to live. His range of style, his range of topics, his wordplay, his metaphors, his story telling and his SOUL!!!
2) THANK YOU GOD for getting these two together!!! Just hearing Mos shine on “2 WORDS” made me think…why does GOOD MUSIC not sign Mos Def. Lyrically only a handful can see him.
3) TRUE MAGIC is a very solid album!!! Slept on, yeah, but he has true to life timeless songs!!! TIMELESS!!!!
This is a good look for Mos Def. Downtown Records is the same indie label that has “Gnarls Barkley” and they went platinum. And that’s unheard of on a indie label.
