“‘LupEND’ — that’s going to be my last album’s title. When you play a videogame, you can only put in three letters for your name and when the game’s over, those three letters and ‘END’ pop up. My next record might be my last one.”

All these threats of retiring* are becoming ever too popular lately. I’m far from impressed and even further from convinced!

*Attention seeking/Publicity stunts…

Lupe has lyrical ability, he should keep that as his main selling point, not corny moves like this!

NYC Homie wrote on November 28th, 2007 at 10:37 pm

lupe is hot garbage in the rap game its either you have it or you dont there aint nuttin in between (eg. he’s a ill lyricst but he aint selling yada yada yawn) but kanye west gave hope for backpack rappers thats why he signed a bunch of em to his good music label and i mean look at common he went platinum for the first time in his career fuckin wit kanye. Kanye is the opposite version of 50 Cent just for the backpack rappin ass niggas but this nigga aint never gon blow he should retire we dont skateboard down in my neighbourhood anyways nigga

so7-4 wrote on November 28th, 2007 at 10:54 pm

faggots still makin skateboard jokes…like he had a whole cd dedicated to the shit. and he not even signed wit kanye. nigga talkin bout he aint sellin.. sells aint shit, and the first album was leaked. you in yo own circus my dude

NYC Homie,
Put down the blunt for two seconds and listen to what I’m going to tell you. Lupe is not going to dumb down any lyrics for you homie. If you don’t understand what he is saying don’t lable him a “backpack rappin ass nigga” and move on. Go buy a dictionary, matter of fact go online to dictionary.com and search up some of the words. If you don’t get some of the references he is making, go read a book. Kanye signed backpack rappers? Consequence? Listen to some of his songs… you might learn something.

whatup nyc homie. u think lupe is garbage because he is a “concept rapper”, which means he writes down some made-up shit that doesnt always make a connection with whoever is listening. im not gonna call him garbage, but i kinda agree with u. everybody cant feel that robots-flyin-around-in-outer-space shit he be kickin. niggas act like his lyrics is too complex to understand, but we started that complex lyrics shit. niggas always understand where a nigga is comin from wit that complex shit, but lupe shit is complex/make-believe, and sometimes that shit is too much. i dont wanna listen to one of his records 5 times to understand some shit thats not even that ill, some fairy tale shit

lupe plans for his 3rd album to be his last. this album coming up in dec is called the cool. the album after that will be lupend. lupe said he was sick and tired of the industry right after food and liqour came out.

if you not feeling lupe ur holding back the black community. dude is intelligent…not killin anybody or selling drugs and still makes some of the hottest songs in recent history.

go listen to lil wayne and let ur braincells die.

Dominator wrote on November 29th, 2007 at 3:56 am

lupe was putting out lame songs on his last lp, now he sees success with superstar if he makes innovative songs he will be fine…

if he comes with more bullshit with jill scott or skateboards we go clown your ass up outa here,

but quiting when your being built as an artist is indeed a publicity stunt. But i couldnt care less,

T Taverniti wrote on November 29th, 2007 at 4:55 am

the problem niggas have with lupe is his ABUNDANT use of references that out culture isn’t familiar with.

people hate what they dont understand.

im not saying you have to be a fucking genius to understand lupe. you just have to have a lot of background knowledge on certain shit.

he references political issues, rock music, jazz music, japanese culture, the sneaker circle, chicago shit and a bunch of other shit that make him who he is.

how you gonna hate on a nigga for that?

i never knew who thelonius monk was until i heard it in a lupe track. and instead of me saying, “man, i dont kno what the fuck a thelonius monk is, fuck him”. i looked him up so that i would get the reference.

lupe is one of my favorite rappers for his originality, song content and his many diff flows.

and alot of you are judging lu off his singles, which do nothing for him. his many mixtapes are what you need to hear so you can really see the range the young niggas has.

and all this coming from a jadakiss/beanie sigel fan.

T Taverniti wrote on November 29th, 2007 at 5:00 am

damn #18

you dont like jill scott my nigga? she killed that song.
that song was wonderfully put together

niggas need to broaden they fucking horizons.
next to my jay-z and nas cds are maxwell, d’angelo and jill scott.

im gonna chalk this up to age and parental influence.
my parents was bumpin oldies and neo soul around me all my life. even though that wasnt my type music, i couldnt help but to appreciate it for what it was, good music.
im guessin if your parents only bumpin the same shit you listenin to already its gonna be hard for you to broaden your horizons.

After the leaking and eventually flop of Food & Liquor, he threatned to quit anyway. He really is underrated.

25.

Is it not better if a kid wants 2 b like lupe rather than any of these ‘gangsta’ rappers?

i cant wait for The Cool!!!!! i love Lupe and i need a new CD ASAP.

and why do niggas act like u cant have abstract thoughts and make self indulgent records? if you dont like dude move on, but he’s on some other shit. him and wayne should make a track.

it seems like ignorant mufuckers are the majority.
i stopped posting comments for a while because it lead to nothing but an immature response from someone.

i think ima go back that route.

Oh F@#!in' Pleeze!!! wrote on November 29th, 2007 at 1:07 pm

Co-sign # 8. Lupe could dumb down his lyrics till the end of time and he STILL won’t sell!!!! It ain’t about dumbing down lyrics and I am tired of conscious rap listeners using that excuse. We understand them, we just don’t give a fuck??? I have had my conscious friends tryin to get me to make the switch for 12 years now. We just don’t care!! Why you may ask, because there is nothing ENTERTAINING about conscious rappers and conscious music. Very few have found a way to make it entertaining. Common just finally found his nitch after like 16 years??? Kanye…entertaining and catchy, Jay-z….entertaining and catchy…..Lupe Fiasco….Should have skateboarded his silly lookin’ self off the cliff in the “Touch the Sky” video!!!!

WE JUST DON’T WANT YOU!!! FIND A NEW WAY OR GO AWAY lol!!

NT ways,I like Bucks version of “Superstar” better and it’s not because he is G-Unit. Buck should have got to the beat first so he could release it as the first single off his album though. Who knows, maybe he still will….

This is one of the many hip-hop is dead. Cats now think they can just put out 3 or 4 albums and say they are done. You think great rappers just put 3 records then say im great im done. NO they keep putting the hits out for example, Jay-Z (10+ albums), Scarface (11 albums). I feel you commit to hip-hop to should keep speaking till you cant.
