Jay-Z Shows NY What An American Gangster Is With The Help Of Lil Wayne, Diddy & The Roc
Jay-Z performing his, “American Gangster,” concert was an event too big for REALTALKNY not to be in the building. I was out of town since Friday but made it right in time to join the never ending line at Hammerstein Ballroom. The line wrapped around the block, so even after I took a major skip I was in for a long wait during a New York frigid night. I kept things interesting by bringing up ether on the line and causing a near riot, while Jigga fans compared who knew the most lyrics off of Jigga’s new album.

Finally got inside and the Hammerstein Ballroom was packed solid. I was blessed with great seats, actually had Talib Kweli directly the row ahead of me(his shorty was banging). After a long wait, and a few fights in the crowed, the lights dimmed and the screams began. The show started with the intro to, “American Gangster,” and Jay-Z’s silhouette being shown on a huge screen. Things got crazy when Jay came out swinging, performing, “Pray,” with a live band backing him. Other tracks for the new album Jigga performed included, “No Hook, “I Know,” “Party Life,” “Blue Magic,” “Roc Boys,” & “Ignorant Shit.” Some of his older hits were dispersed in the performance including, “Big Pimpin,” “Where I’m From,” “Hovi Baby,” “99 Problems,” “Heart Of The City,” “Jigga My Nigga,” “Jigga What,” & “Show Me What You Got.” Jay-Z got assistance from Lil Wayne for, “Hello Brooklyn,” & Diddy for the, “I Get Money Forbes Remix.” Jay-Z then brought out the Roc Boys(Memphis Bleek, Beanie Sigel & Freeway) to perform classic Rocafella tracks, including, “You Me Him Her,” “What We Do,” & “Roc The Mic.” Even Young Chris came out performing, “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop.” Jigga than performed, “Ignorant Shit,” with Beanie Sigel’s assitance.
Jay-Z then gave his condolences to Kanye West and dedicated the show to him. To conclude the show the Roc Boys were than again invited onto the stage, this time with the addition of Jadakiss & Tru-Life. Jay-Z made an announcement that Jadakiss is the newest Roc Boy. Jadakiss then choked and couldn’t perform a song, he could only do his signature laugh, so Jay-Z went back to performing, “Roc Boys.” “Roc Boys,” was the perfect song to conclude the concert which was a celebration for his latest album.
