so when he realizes that, then he can stop being mad at jayz. defjam is having a great year in the declined state of hiphop sales. meth and red wont even be downloaded let alone purchased. promotion is expensive and records arent selling, so payin for all these rappers would be taking a loss. and thats not how they became a powerhouse label.
LL does movies,why not drop a album wit your movie, or sum kinda gimmick, then when defjam see your a smart-creative dude they’ll support. but the days of just shelling out dollars to every artist are over. times have changed, nuthin stays the same. either catch up or drop out the race.

As a business owner I’d roll with the product that would bring in the most revenue and “piggy-back” other products on that thereby maximizing the effect…same as L L is doing now–creating a buzz for his early ‘08 release getting FREE publicity now BEFORE Def Jam has to open the purse to promote Exit 13…ya dig. He’s been in the game almost a quarter century, he’s NOT dumb, he understands that the media machine and the fans will eat this up and push his sales up AT LEAST 10% upon release( 1st wk). So, while you all are discussing this newest beef, understand that this is a multi-billion dollar music BUSINESS which will capitalize on every avenue of approach and believe there has been a strategy set in motion (by all the players-L L, Jay, L.A. and even 50…damn he’s getting it from everywhere, huh)..hopefully L will give us a “Momma…” type album that showcases his relevance in today’s marketplace and refrain from the gimmicky “Todd Smith”.
