FUCK LL. JAY-Z IS A ROCAFELLA ARTIST NOT DEF JAM. HE CAN COME OUT ALL YEAR ROUND IF HE WANTS. JAY PROMOTES HIMSELF AS WELL AS OTHER DEF JAM ARTISTS. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF WHO THE PUBLIC TAKES TOO. HE HAD TEIRRA MARIE AND RIHANNA AND THE PUBLIC ONLY ACCEPTED RIHANNA. STOP BLAMING JAY FOR THE PUBLIC NOT BUYING RECORDS. JAY'S DOING A GOOD JOB ON HIMSELF AND DEF JAM. KEEP DOING YOU JAY. LL'S MADE HE DOESN'T HAVE YOUR MARKETING SKILLS. HE CAN'T EVEN GET HIS CLOTHING LINE TO POP. I GUESS THAT'S JAY'S FAULT TOO SINCE HE HAS ROCAWEAR AND NOW ARTFUL DODGER.
AG IS A CLASSIC!!!

I love LL but serious, He hasn't put out a good album since Mama said in 1990. He may have been in the game for 25years but hes sucked for the last 17 of them.

the problem is age, its like giving an old man an ipod or a 12-disc cd changer. he's not ready to adapt to that type of technology, he still likes tapes and 1cd player.
LL is not used to this media machine promotion we live in today. i dont have to curse or diss LL to say that he's wrong, just cuz he's a legend dont mean he's right.
he's just now realizing that the media and internet will promote you for free, but in return they will download your album for free also. so u gotta play by the rules they made, not your own LL rules.

so when he realizes that, then he can stop being mad at jayz. defjam is having a great year in the declined state of hiphop sales. meth and red wont even be downloaded let alone purchased. promotion is expensive and records arent selling, so payin for all these rappers would be taking a loss. and thats not how they became a powerhouse label.
LL does movies, why not drop a album wit your movie, or sum kinda gimmick, then when defjam see your a smart-creative dude they'll support. but the days of just shelling out dollars to every artist are over. times have changed, nuthin stays the same. either catch up or drop out the race.

Oh yeah...remember this the artist pays for everything the studio time, the assistant(who works with the label to set up interviews), the producers, the studio musicians, the sound man the editor, the advertising...all that that's why the get an ADVANCE (money paid based on projected future earnings). So if I'm placed in that situation and I have 24+ years experience, I'm going to create the biggest buzz for the cheapest price ( to minimize my expenditure and maximize MY return) i.e. "The Beef"

Cheaper than rehab, baby with the same effect.

First, much respect to both artists. I've grown up with Hip-Hop (as old as L L, myself) but if you look back at the numbers and the reviews Jay's "Albums" have been consistently 'solid' w/ a home-run hit here and there. L L, while most all albums have been strong hasn't had that "home-run" type hit that appeals to every hip-hop fan...his are either for the ladies or for the dudes, in quite sometime.

As a business owner I'd roll with the product that would bring in the most revenue and "piggy-back" other products on that thereby maximizing the effect...same as L L is doing now--creating a buzz for his early '08 release getting FREE publicity now BEFORE Def Jam has to open the purse to promote Exit 13...ya dig. He's been in the game almost a quarter century, he's NOT dumb, he understands that the media machine and the fans will eat this up and push his sales up AT LEAST 10% upon release( 1st wk). So, while you all are discussing this newest beef, understand that this is a multi-billion dollar music BUSINESS which will capitalize on every avenue of approach and believe there has been a strategy set in motion (by all the players-L L, Jay, L.A. and even 50...damn he's getting it from everywhere, huh)..hopefully L will give us a "Momma..." type album that showcases his relevance in today's marketplace and refrain from the gimmicky "Todd Smith".

LL DON'T 'DUMB DOWN' the music! Spit your best *ish.

It's not Jays fault LL flopped. That just the state of the record biz right now. You got all the people downloading. I mean Nobody does numbers like they did. Plus there a time when people just ain't feelin what you saying. LL had a long great carrear but maybe be its over. now for real now that he's working with 50 who gonna by the next LL album. And who really gets good promo now days in the record biz. I think its up to the artist to get a buzz. You know do that interveiw. Be on that show hit the mixtapes. It just like being a politican.
