Congrats to Jay Z on making a solid album that sold solid units the first week of its sales. All ya’ll talking about how the album flopped need to sit down. We are in stae in hip hop where we can’t even go gold no more. And yet Jay almost goes gold the first week. People talk about how Kanye and 50 outsold him. Look. The whole Kanye and 50 situation was good for both of their albums. It was a contest. It made people wanna go out and buy the albums for a change. Both of them took months to promote the album. People, thier first songs on the album came out in the spring. They had time to build up the anticipation. Plus they released like 2 songs off of the albumsbefore the albums even came out. Jay took roughly a month to make this album. He put out a street single. Not a radio single like I Get Money or Can’t Tell Me Nothing. Blue Mgic didn’t have a real buzz to it like any of Jay’s older shit and yet the man is still able to sell 400,000 + albums in the first week. Ya’ll realize that this album didn’t have any real promotion like Kingdom Come? Jay Z is 38 yeras old in December. And he still is more relevent than “today’s” rappers. And heres the news for the haters. Jay Z will still be relevent for a while. In other words, Hovis is home and he aint goin no where. Am I saying that he is the best rapper alive? No, Am saying that this album is his best work?, No. What I’m sayin is that Jay Z is just that damn good. He’s not perfect. He’s just so good. That good that all these young rappers feel the need to take shots at him on the low and then try to make up with him later. (Lil Wayne for example). Just respect Jay Z and stop hatin.
