You don’t have to major in marketing to know that demographics goes deeper than genre’s. Alicia keys target demogrpahic is probably black females between the ages of 16-30. Maybe younger than that, she has a pretty large fan base.
A lot of people call target demo’s waves and after a target demo there is what people call ripples. Her fan base after the target may start as young as 13 and go as high as 40. (My moms is late 40’s and she bought the real album and my sis is late 20’s and she bought it.)
Compared to Hov, his demographic is probably the same range 16-30 but black males. (which are out numbered by black females statisically) and have also been surveyed to purchase less CD’s than females. But his ripples are no where near as high as hers.
Anyway this marketing shit is basic but boring unless you getting paper off it. I just dont think those 2 should be compared if you saying Hov flopped. Most people think gold is the new platinum anyway.
