Why are they the whitest black people you have ever seen. Not all white people talk correctly. Actually what you said is an insult, truth be told. Everything they said is correct. They do know what is going on, they have lived there, but there support system was stronger, that what some of these kids have today. Bill makes some very valid points when he speaks but people just don’t relate to it because he’s comes at the subject so direct. Alot of people feel like he’s talking directly to them and they get offended which is exactly what he wanted to do. Not to make people upset but to make them say DAMN that’s how I look to everyone, let me try to make a change within myself. But people don’t do that they try to justify their bad qualities …… Not saying Bills right about everything but some of our people really need to take a look at themselves, because everyone else is watching ……

I agree we as Black people have to change the direction we are going in. However, none of us are perfect, so instead of juding these people, find out what you can do to help them. Every child is not meant to go off to school, so does that make that childs life a less worthy then a kid who did go away to school. Gangster rap is a excuse used by so many. The NRA was out long before gangster rap, The “N” word was out long before Hip-Hop. It’s eazy to sit back and judge, I mean they both are billionaires, but Bill forgets he hasnt lead a perfect life either (cheating on his wife, sevral times). Oprah is not what, I want my daughter to grow up and be like, why is it ALL successful Blackwomen are single? We have substituded education for the quick buck. Not understanding that during the entire “hood process” that is a learning experience. Learn the value of life and gain the testimony to overcome adverstity. We were never created to glorify the situation in which we lived.

However we glorify ignorace (slang), pimps, ho’s, drug dealers, and black on black crime (robbing and stealing from one another).

Some how we learned to down grade individuals that do the right things. We call going to school and getting an education (square), not participating in juvenile behavoir (Lame), using proper english (talking white).

We have taken the very things that were used to oppress us, and embraced them as if they were apart of our make-up.

It time to change! That’s what Bill and Oparh are talking about. PS: This problem is bigger than hip hop.

And What Oprah and Bill Cosby people who havent been finanacially unstable in years fail to realize is that It isnt glorification its more of rejoice (when it comes to the rap argument)

Your mother makes close to nothing and cant put nothing on the table and pops is not around, why would you think a child would believe that school is important?? Money will always be the motivation when it comes to that situation. Not saying that im defending all rap because majority is way past ignorant, but everybody does not have the same opportunities in this world. Especially considering in this world when you need money to make money.

Lights off in the crib you got to do something to keep them on, homework is only a priority for those that can maintain and keep up with it.

And I watched that whole show and nothing was said by Bill Cosby or that corny ass professor about what they were doing to make a change. Only thing Bill Cosby is doing is talking down about it and going around giving speeches to people who have excellent household structure.

Drugs is killing our community everyday, single family households is killing our community everyday…But lets not forget a Rap record didnt get drugs across…A Rap record aint producing babies….A Rap record is just giving a vivid description of realities….And Bill Cosby did say one true thing…”Our children are telling us something and we must listen to what they are saying”….

So true, so how about you break down rap correctly and come at an angle of trying to fix it instead of surrounding yourself around people who want to do nothing but make profit off of telling us what we as black people are doing wrong…..What Programs you have Bill??…How many sports teams you have in the hood for kids that want to play sports but family cant afford to buy sneakers and put them trhu camps and things like that??…What positive concerts do you have for people to come together and listen to beautiful music??….

You dont have none of that homey, but you definitely on Oprah and got a book….SMH…..

Good sisters out there need to understand that bettering yourself and having a good job is half the journey. This is because choosing to have kids with the wrong guy (good for nothing knucklehead) can quickly undo all your lifelong hard work. Choose a like minded guy so you can have like minded kids.

#15 has many valid points, but one thing I can say is, Mr. Cosby does not need to write books or give speeches. Financially he is great. He doing all this from the heart. Instead of donating, which I’m sure he donated more then we will make in a lifetime. He is taking it on his own and telling us parents, or parents to be to shape it up.

In other words, Mr. Cosby speaks the truth. My son is two, and i’m taking everything he said to heart.

Cosby does speak the truth but he is at the age where he does not know how to facilitate the information anymore. He comes across like he talking down to people. Black people in the hood dont want to be spoken to like we are all uneducated and dont know how to take care of our children, even if its true.

He just needs to try and figure out another angle to take. ALso I agree with the person who said the comment about his book. Its not like he is donating the proceeds of his book.

Supporting OUR OWN and competeing WITH OTHERS are VERY different! and we could do both at one time.

P.s. 30+ and grew up in one of the poorest cities in the country in my youth.
