As a 22 y/o black dude, I can’t lie I have grown tired of the glorification of violence, mysogyny, drugs, gangs, and other negativity in rap music. However, feeling that way isn’t what made JGibson’s comments racist.

The fact he goes out of his way first to blame black people for violence in the world (as if white people aren’t or never were, or even this country wasn’t founded on violence) and then still continues to do so after admitting he was wrong and it was a white person. It’s still black people’s fault. Of course, this is what FoxNews is; thinly veiled shots and everything and everyone not white, upper class, “educated” Republican.

And Hip Hoppers= Niggers. He couldn’t think of a better euphamysm to use? Hell, he could have said “urban” and that would at least include the millions of non black people who go out of their way to “act black,” and like what they see on tv and radio, which by the way isn’t authentic blackness because no such thing exists. While the depiction of us may not be, we are in fact as diverse as every other race, religion, ethnicity, or any other social group breakdown you would like to make. With us, people are just more apt to focus on the negative and then typecast that and throw it on all of us.
