Is that really them? (could be but I don’t know) All of those photos are not clear.
If it is them… Yes it would be extremely ignorant to do this. However, they are children and children do things often without considering the consequences or without thinking at all. However, if it is them does it abrogate what people were really fighting for with the Jena 6 cause? I don’t think so. Does that mean that they should not have a right to fair sentencing and a fair trial? Does that mean it should be acceptable for young black males to continually have the books thrown at them if they encounter the wrong side of the American criminal justice system? We know for a fact that young white males who commit crimes usually have a SECOND CHANCE at life (As seen in the events that preceded the fight that landed the Jena 6 in legal trouble and America’s own legal system data). Stick to the real issue and don’t let foolishness throw you off track (coming from either side). As before you have a full opinion you may want to think about the implied intent of the person that amassed these photos into this movie/slide anyway duh!!).
I think at whatever time these photos were taken they display ignorance. Jena 6 or not, photos like this are ignorant as hell and typical to young people period. It’s immature and that’s what adolescence encompasses for most, immaturity.
If that is them and they were all recent photos the thing that comes to my mind is… Where are the parents? Where are the parents? Where are the parents?
Furthermore, if they have a little bit of money so what. Do you know if that is money from contributions to the Jena 6 fund. Do you not think that children who have almost had the books thrown at them could enjoy something after being free? I’m sure they’ve been traumatized to some degree. Also, we give tons and tons of money to corporations and other communities that aid in the oppression of our own DAILY. SO I SAY, SO WHAT? Did you shun/condemn the Red Cross or Habitat for Humanity in not allocating their resources properly/effectively after Hurricane Katrina?
