Article On The T.I. Situation & Black America
Somewhere along the way, a cadre of young black men and women began glorifying violence, misogyny and thuggishness, accepting incarceration as inevitable, resigning themselves to lives on the margins of mainstream society. They created a thug culture that has been commodified — celebrated in music and movies, sold to poor adolescents in wretched neighborhoods as well as affluent teenagers in upscale communities.

Deep Line…
“If white entertainers were making millions singing about the slaughter of black men and mistreatment of black women, city streets would clog with protesters. Demonstrators would pack the halls of Congress. Commerce would grind to a halt as black activists demanded boycotts. But somehow, the violence and misogyny of T.I., 50 Cent and Nelly are less inflammatory.”

this article is on point, we should be ashamed of ourselves and have only ourselves to blame.

She’s fake! She wrote that and took a shot at Nelly at the end. All these other rapper’s and she calls out Nelly. All these female authors are targeting rap music like it produces these kids. “Listen to a gangster rap song and you are turned into a gangster,” bitch please!
If you want to write about something, write about after school, music and low income school district funding. She’s probably the type that lives in her little space and think that this stuff does not exist.
Don’t complain without a solution! Help the Hood.

Ur right who is is to blame but us black folks. We gotta start being more responsible, for everyone, and most importantly the youth. Stop accepting whatever the white mogul wants u 2 jimmney cricket to. Hip hop is now just plain poison, almost worse than a “bmore love thing”. gOT the youth and most of black america beliveing that we are NOTHING. Even if u in the ghetto u can get out, but you damn sure cant get out selling and killing each other. “If i can make it so can you.” And not to ride on kanye’s d*ck,or common’s for that matter, but they they only one’s speaking truth and being creative. I’m just tired and this is from the mind and heart of a black baltimore female tired of seeing my lil ones die because they living in a sterotype commericial fantasy. There is a way out. R.I.P SYKO

She has a pointbut I’m just tired of everytime someone associated with Hip Hop does something wrong they make it seem like that’s all Hip Hip is about. REALTALK you need to start posting some of the many positive things that go on in Hip Hip along with all this negative sh*t. I love Hip Hop but I don’t love everything about it. There’s more to Hip Hop than all the negative attention it gets…….

its sad but the bad does outweigh the good
i agree wit money that says that america is designed this way. everytime i see shit like this happen to a big star i think of the plan. and how long ago was this plan made, our lives as a whole is like a social experiment.
and with that being said, people like t.i. are responsible for his own actions and he made a fool of himself and hiphop in the eyes of america. i aint sayin he cant do what he do, but he need to be smarter and not let it come to light. kids are seeing these guns and they might idolize it. thats where parents are supposed to step in and take control. rappers like him make it hard to teach kids right from wrong. and i dont put nelly in that category at all, nelly is almost considered a positive rapper. i dont listen that much but i dont think he talks about guns and drugs too much, just women and money

All you people shut dat shit up!!!!Because this story is just another rhetorical write-up thats sounds via copy and pasted from the same people who dont say anything to Denzel who’s also playing the most notorious black drug dealer in world history, and once a crooked cop in training day, nor do they say anything about things like the mini series The Wire, because you people all forget to realize these are people which are in the Performing Arts Profession……Rap Music is just an image PEOPLE….Rap music has and will always have characters, why do you think so many rappers are making a smooth transisition into acting……..She’s taking shots at the same people everybody does (50 Cent, Nelly, etc……) But nobody talks about Chris Rock, Dave Chapelle and actors who use the word Bitch in there movies and Comedy Sketches just as much as rappers…….
All in all Yes T.I made a mistake but, what she’s doing is almost the same thing as black on black crime….she’s attemping to take food out of rappers mouths by generalizing Rap music….It’s the same thing as when white people say “ALL BLACK PEOPLE AREN’T NIGGERS BECAUSE I LIKE SOME OF THEM” if black people don’t stand together everything is gonna crumble!!!!!
October 17th, 2007 at 1:13 pm
Its wrong how Nellys in the list, hes probebly the most distanced rapper from all the thuggish shit.
Everything else in that article is right and people need to identify with it. Black people are mostly in denial which is why u still got people in her sayin shes wrong blah blah coz they cant except it. Black people seem to always have someone to blame and 90% of the time its whites
People need to realise there’s a lot of caring white people out there thats trying to do u good.
People need to open there eyes. Hip Hop isn’t diein its just close to a transition a very positive one. Atm hip hop is at rock bottem with all the content being negative bar kanye n common. rappers need to use there music to inspire to make a better world. U can talk about all the shit that goes on but put it in a bad light make people to not want to go that way in life.
The thing is, is it has to start with the fans n all this street cred bollocks coz thats where it comes from. They lie n rap about how gangsta they are to get YOU on there side n think there hard so until the fans change the rappers wont. It looks like its changin with the success of kanye.
All of ya’ll thinkin im bein a pussy ill rather live in a happy world then a messed up one. Only thing is work has to be put in 4 the happy one. Think about ur kids dyin in a shitty world we created. Bloods on our hands

#17 bay,Ok when your acting in a movie and your a powerful person like Denzel it is okay to transtion because you have portrayed a powerful and positive black man for years. Glory, man on fire, the hurricane,MALCOM X,. He has proved a point. And why would you take shots at the wire when it shows real shit that happens in the streets. The wire doesn’t glorify Baltimore, if anything it lets us see that in my hood there is no candy paint, money fallin out da sky, and bitches shakin they ass for nothing. They all pay a price, watch closly bro. And wait Dave Chapplle is a black mogul who isn’t afraid to let white’s know how ill we are portrayed, lol…”da da da W.B, I like chicken”. Real talk about that damn frog, ect. Chris rock also use to keep it real, but theses guys are comedians, aren’t they suppose to be funny? Rap is always 90% seriously talking about killing a nigga if he even breath wrong. I can’t even name one rapper today who has made a positive transition in their raps, Mason Betha dont count, lol. Which rapper has stop talking about the commercial bullshit and jumped on the postive band wagon to tell us not to drop out, or encourage us to stop selling D, because there is a way out. If it is it’s to damn few of them..and that’s why #19 “thought” he had no other opportunity but to sell drugs to get out of poverty. No positive influence. The average young person listens to hip hop while he’s on the block, smoking the pif, they ain’t watching trainig day. These kids is outside sun up to sun down, atleast on my block.
