“We got some new news,” Weezy said. “[The December 18 release] is gonna be called Tha Carter III, but it’s gonna be called The Leak as well because I get leaked so much. My music got leaked this whole year. One thing I noticed, when another person’s album gets leaked, it’s a whole thing; they’re distraught. When my song gets leaked, people call and say, ‘It’s the greatest song. Can I have it for this album?’ Or ‘Can I put it on this soundtrack? Can we get the ringtone?’ It’s never, ‘Damn, dude, your music leaked.’ So what we feel, we’re gonna give you what you want. We’re gonna give you the leak. Every song that was leaked is coming out on December 18 — and we have four new songs. The song ‘Gossip’ is gonna be the first single from that album. I’mma shoot the video for that in about a week.”
Why does all his songs get leaked? I’m sure the album will be under a lot of Christmas trees.

You guys are plum STUPID if you haven’t figured out he and a LOT of artist let their shit get leaked so that if their material to get a feel for the streets. If the direction they have gone in is WACK to the streets they hurry up call it “mixed tape material” cuz either way they have won on that level. But if the streets like the direction they are going in, then you don’t hear from them for a while because they have found out what the streets want from them at the time and they go ahead and record a whole album and promote and sell it before the very fickle streets don’t like it anymore. It cost TOO MUCH money to promote an album now adays ESPECIALLY one that isn’t going to sell so if you know what the people want first…..you can then deliver. It’s a pretty smart tactic if you ask me because they stay relivant and get to pump up all of the sheep’s heads to thinking they are what…..THE GREATEST LMBAO!!!!

I meant to say a lot of artists LET their shit get leaked to get a feel for the street AND so that if it’s wack, they can go back in and re-record so that they don’t waste MILLIONS on promoting an album that will not get bought. It’s cheeper to let a whole albums worth of material get “leaked” than to spend millions to promote an album doing shows, videos, photo shoots inteviews, travel expenses etc. AND they get to look like the victim cuz no one understands why they are doing it.
