i truly do not know how to begin but, let me say this. alot of you brothers cheeks must be tired from all this dick sucking going on for Shawn Carter. Jay most definitely a great rap artist, he knows how to create a hit for these times but a president of an established label? virtually impossible to do in this day and age and still be a viable artist. The two cannot co-exist unless you have an independent company like Rocafella records was at one time.
As for what LL was stating he is correct, Jay as the label head has an obligation to all of his artist, to promote and market there music vigorously. Any less and he is not fufilling his obligation. As a true artist he does not have the time to do double duty. As for putting down a legend in this hip hop game, I say "blasphemy". when was the last time any one of you monday morning rappers put out a classic. forget that put out anything worthwhile listening too. I wont call you haters but, damn to use one of your mans lines "jealousy- thats a females trait". All that are opposed to LL's comments go read a book on the industry and realize how hard it is to run the business side of music. it is not all about shaking hands and kissing babies. Do your homework then come back to this blog and make some informative comments. until then, grab a hold of Jays tool like you've been doing and let him bust in your face.lol
If anyone was offended I am just keeping the blog humourous.

Really strange that hip hop was selling before any label would promote. There was this thing called WORD OF MOUTH that got people interested and your music did the rest. This industry is big business. You are only as hot as your last album. Anybody remember the name of LL's?

LL WAKE UP. ALL OF THESE LABELS HAVE A BUDGET FOR PROMOTING THEIR ARTISTS. BIG ARTISTS MAY GET A BIGGER CUT BUT WITH ALL THE DOWNLOADING AND FREE GIVEAWAYS OF MUSIC THE RECORD SALES ARE SLACKING WHICH IN TURNS CUTS INTO PROMOTION - FOR BIG AND SMALL ARTISTS. ARTISTS THAT YOU SEE EVERYWHERE OR THINK THEY HAVE GOOD PROMOTION ISN'T COMING FROM THE RECORD COMPANY. THEIR MANAGEMENT PROMOTES THEM TO OTHER COMPANIES WHO IN TURN PAY FOR PROMOTING THEIR MUSIC. JAY'S DOING THE BEST WITH WHAT HE HAS TO WORK WITH. HE PERSONALLY PROMOTED CHRISETTE MICHELLE - EVEN HAD HER AT TAVERN ON THE GREEN WHICH IS UNHEARD OF AND SHE STILL FLOPPED BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T SUPPORT MUSIC. LL MUST WASN'T LISTENING WHEN 50 WAS ON 106&PARK WITH BANKS AND YAYO (WHO WERE UPSET ABOUT THEIR SALES) AND HE SAID IT'S ONLY SO FAR YOU CAN GO WITH PROMOTING - BUDGETWISE, AND AFTER THAT, THE PROJECT'S OFFICIALLY OVER AND YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN. I CAN'T WAIT FOR LL TO DROP LIKE THE BLAND ROCK THAT HE IS AND REALIZE THAT IT'S HIM, NOT JAY THAT CAN'T SELL LL. THE IRONY IS, ALL THE ARTISTS THEY NAME THAT FLOP DIDN'T SELL UNDER RUSSELL AND KEVIN LILES EITHER, INCL. LL.

A lot of what LL's saying is true, the problem is you can't help but notice that he's been bitchin about Jay since he took that position. Now, he could have a real reason to be tight about some shit, but people aint gonna see it because they gonna automatically start thinking "Oh here we go again.. LL's bitching again because he aint selling no records".. No diss, but I think he ran his yap too much in the beginning for people to take anything the dude say for serious now..
