Jena 6 Convictions Has Been Over Turned

A state appeals court on Friday threw out the only remaining conviction against one of the black teenagers accused in the beating of a white schoolmate in the racially tense north Louisiana town of Jena.

Mychal Bell, 17, should not have been tried as an adult, the state 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal said in tossing his conviction on aggravated battery, for which he was to have been sentenced Thursday. His conspiracy conviction in the December beating of student Justin Barker was already thrown out by another court.

If we could just come together more, MY GOD!!! we would seriously be running things around the WORLD.

I’m so happy to see they got off but this is just one case that caught the attention of the media & the people. too bad this type of sh*t is happening all to often to blacks that don’t have the financial resources to defend themselves or the media to help them out. I hope someone comes up with a way for our people to stop being overcharged on minor crimes & a system to get all the wrongly convicted cases looked at ….
I’ll take this one win for now but we still can’t just sit back & relax though……..

The media got a hold of it… I barely saw any mention of the issue on t.v.

But I’m glad they’re convictions were over turned and I hope they don’t have any blemishes on they’re records remaining.

im happy for them they shouldnt have had 2 go through that in the first place its a shame black people still get treated like their ancestors were treated when they were enslaved if it were reversed there wouldnt have been a trial not even a slap on the hand for the white boys

  12. Aamarian Says:

by the way people quick to get on here when its news about a celebrity or some video hoe but not when its some real news/issues to be discussed thats whats wrong with the black community now real talk

The hand of God was definatly with our brothers and sisters down there in Jena. However, lets not forget that its only been a few years scince this country has ended this kind of treatment by law. Those same people that made laws to oppress us are still living. They have children who take on their belifes and still have a stronghold in powerful places….But on that note lets come together get rid of that DA that started all this..

  17. Anon Says:

Real motherfuckin talk, if it weren’t for websites, blogs and the rest of the online movement, the mainstream media wouldn’t have picked up on it.

And this also proves that we do have a voice and its being heard.

  18. juicygotemcrazy Says:

^^^^^^^^^^real talk. this is a beautiful thing!!!

  19. Erin Says:

This is a beautiful thing but let’s remember that this only affects 1 of the 6; there are still 5 other young men that need the same online and eventual media attention. We’re not done yet!
