Hip Hop needs to hold hip hop Accountable.. Not congress..

    and UH 1st..

  2. trayday Says:

Congressional hearing over hip hopp??? They need to be holding hearings about the state of education, healthcare. The DA in Jena, LA. The housing crisis, whole lot of other more pressing issues. What is going to be the outcome, censorship?

  3. Blud Bro Says:

I see Master P is a ass kisser “Education is different than knowledge” is all he had to say…n*gga just want that REAL money which is from those same people who’ve help fund Oprah,Bill Cosby, etc.
I agree with David Banner…it’s just music (which is a business).Nobody ask workers at Colt, Remmington, etc. why do they take part in makin’ instruments which have no other purpose but to wound and/or kill people! He also made a good point with actors and their movies. Can’t belive only 2 people made comments on this topic…but will click instantly on a topic that say ‘Jay-Z Grabs Beyonce’s Butt In Public’! Can’t yall see, Congress is involved cause they are tryin’ legislate new laws to take away our right to freespeech to certain degrees. The Parental Advisory sticker was’nt enough. WAKE UP. 9 times outta 10 people who comment on this topic is “peekin’” and somewhat KNOWS the importance of that hearing (and others to come after it).

  4. BlackIce Says:

My OPINION is that Hip hop does need to be cleaned up on some levels, but I don’t think that Congress should be involved in the process. I just think that congress needs to be focused on cleaning up the place where all these violent lyrics come from, the ghetto. If they focused more on getting our poor neighborhoods cleaned up then the rappers would have different things to rap about.

  5. T2 Says:

I CO SIGNED EVERYTHING BANNER SAID. IF NOTHING CHANGES IN THE ENVIRONMENT NOTHING WILL CHANGE IN HIP HOP CAUSE IT IS AN EXPRESSION OF WHAT GOES ON.

I AM NOT FALLING INTO THE TRAP OF PEOPLE THINKING THAT THESE POLITICAL PEOPLE ACTUALLY CARE WHAT GOES ON IN SOCIETY. HIP HOP DOES ALOT MORE FOR THE SOCIETY THAN THESE POLITICAL PEOPLE WILL EVER DO, SO THERE ARGUMENTS DON’T INTEREST ME.

  6. Save Says:

#3 said put it the BEST!!! We need to wake up brothers and sisters..

  7. DIRTY.DUNNZ Says:

I THOUGHT IT WAS AN OVERALL GOOD DISCUSSION ALTHOUGH THERE WERE QUESTIONS THAT WEREN’T FULLY ANSWERED TO MY SATISFACTION.

MASTER P SEEMED TO BE ALL OVER THE PLACE WITH HIS RESPONSES. HE WOULD NEVER REALLY ANSWER THE QUESTIONS…HE JUST USED EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO RANT AND REPEAT HIS IGNORANT STATEMENT, “EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE IS DIFFERENT.” EDUCATION IS THE ACT OF IMPARTING KNOWLEDGE…U CAN’T HAVE ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER. HE SHOULD’VE HAD SOMEONE HELP HIM COLLECT HIS THOUGHTS BEFORE HE SHOWED UP.

I LIKED DAVID BANNER A LOT, BUT HE WENT OFF ON HIS TALKING POINTS. HE WOULD ANSWER SOME OF THE QUESTIONS IN A ROUND-ABOUT WAY AFTER GOING OFF ON HIS TANGENTS. HOWEVER, HE MADE SOME VERY GOOD POINTS.

MICHAEL ERIC DYSON IS THAT DUDE. HOMIE WAS DEFINITELY KILLIN IT, BUT HE’S GOTTA LEARN HOW TO KEEP IT BRIEF.

OVERALL, IT WAS A GOOD DISCUSSION. AS FAR AS THE EXPLOITATION OF WOMEN…MOST OF THE WOMEN IN THESE VIDEOS ARE STRIPPERS, PORN STARS, AND NUDE INTERNET MODELS SO IN ACTUALITY THESE VIDEOS ARE A STEP DOWN IN SEXUALITY IN COMPARISON TO THEIR NORMAL PROFESSIONS. SO, UNLESS YOU’RE GONNA BRING THEM BEFORE CONGRESS FOR THOSE PROFESSIONS, U NEED TO STOP WITH THE SELECTIVE PROSECUTION ON BLACK MEN. ALSO, MOST OF THE SONGS TODAY ARE ABOUT PANDERING TO WOMEN WHETHER THEY ARE “MAKING IT RAIN” ON THEM OR “SPRUNG” TRYING TO “BUY THEM A DRANK”.

  8. Yung Jot Says:

This is disgusting that only 6 people commented on this, that is pathetic.

REAL TALK u need to put ppl on blast for this man…u shuddd jus ban posts from anyone that didnt post here.

u shudda put a picture of melyssa ford, or mel b to get some more attention. thats sad.

i was happy to see that they had varying viewpoints on this topic but was mostly impressed with what David banner had to say. he was very educated and expressed himself in a way that was both truthful and that anyone that has been raised in an urban environment can relate to, eric dyson was also great as usual with not only the words he used but the fact he put into prespective what many people from this urban environment go through and how there is a double standard to anything that comes out of a black/latino americans mouth but none when it comes from anywhere else.rap is under attack and they are trying to censor one of the main forms of music where we can get our frustrations out and express ourselves because of the language that is in it.come on, in lfe everything is not peachy and great if that were the case we would see in the news everything that is good in the world but we don’t we see everything that can possibly go wrong.to say to some to try to sing better songs to the kids is a joke when the person has to have been raised or in a better circumstance in their life to be able to do this.david banner is the man.master p is a total joke,he is up to something(corporate backing) to line his pockets.be real what has jay-z rapped about that is positive that has earned him the money to do what he does and have the position he has(the selling of millions of records)thats all point blank.this world revolves around money.these people want us to rap about roses that we dont see in the hood.

  11. kstorm Says:

i have a new found respect for david banner..
man is a very smart dude

  12. slick Says:

i dont think this hearing helped in any way. david banner said he would not change cuz it would hurt his pockets. then he said he would change if things in his neighborhood changed.

  13. chosen2bfly Says:

Somebody please tell me why we can’t rap about what we see around us when Bill O’ Reilly is allowed to make ignorant remarks about black people on TV..? people he doesn’t really see around himself!
I guess it’s time for some motherfukking iced tea!

  14. Skee Says:

why do they realise this right after hip-hop is dead?… Don imus striked this fuse… and like 50 said.. why come after hip-hop? go find paramount and shut s*it down if your so worried about the content in the film and audio

  15. iLLahnoize Says:

Banner spoke the truth. Hip hop is nun but a reflection of everything dats goin on society. People jus spendin all there time tryin to find sumthin negative, Den lookin at all the positive. U can tell he did his research at the part he was talkin bout the Mark Twain books.

  16. Sohh Fokus'd Says:

Hip-Hop is a reflection of environment and environment persuades perception but their is a difference in speaking from experience and perspective and up lifting and glorifying certain lifestlyes i dont know if the quote is accurate but Jay-Z said “Hov sold crack….so hopefully u wont have to go through that”
Artist should express themselves but not persuade others to think and act the way they do

  17. Mightyyadig Says:

Well Spoken and nothing but the truth is said the Mark Twain point was truly explained I must say

  18. lady W Says:

all of them are very smart and intelligent. i agree that some aspects of hip hop do need some cleaning. however, there are larger issues at hand in this country and it didnt originate with hip hop. there is deep rooted history that is related to many modern behavior of the african-american community that needs to be examined while keeping some issues (of hip hop) in mind.

  19. 2cents Says:

Until we handle business like we’re suppose to we’ll continue to have others meddling in outr affairs and deviding us into small groups with no real differences!

It its not the congress against music as a whole whats the point?

P has or has had as much money as any black person in music so to talk about him like he has a hand out is funny, talk about Jay -Z like that!

And Banner been on his grind, If y’all listened to his music you’d understand he’s deeper then the “real gurls get it down on the flo’” type songs!

The best point is how so many folks want to have input on some dumb sh!t like who sales is the highest when it really don’t matter in the long run; but somethin like this that is a measuring stick and will be affecting you and your children isn’t worth learning about or commenting on… damn shame!

  20. jb Says:

yea master p is a fuckin joke he is just not cussin in his lyrics so that he can sell more records and people can talk about him doin good nigga u is from da hood and u look dumb tryin to act like ur switchin ur life…david banner is a real dude he says wats on his mind but kno’s wat he is talkin about…im tired of this shit…

  21. BIN WA Says:

the views expressed by the whole panel was relevant the problem is not hip hop we have the right to express ourselves without censorship it is entertainment it is not hip hops job to raise americas or the world for that matters children infact if white amerca didnt support emulate copy praise or glorify our music this wouldnt be an issue. these do gooders need to wake the fuck up be they white black brown or whatever what is spoken in hip hop is the condition we live in .Now i know some rappers over do it but over all this is entertainment they need to discuss the systematic brainwashing going on with telIEvision before they step to hip hop shit they show sex on tv at 6pm when all kids are awake whos job is it to protect the innocence of the children THATS RIGHT their damn parents. not mos def ti lil weezy and such.

  22. Portia Says:

i feel that david banner did an outstanding job on the subject….masterp has some more “Growing” up 2 do B4 he trys to unite Hip hop…..How can u Unite hip hop when the people that you are trying to unite DON’T respect you…….I am VERY disppointed in the whole banner vs. master p beef…..Master P has stop doing music and has put his efforts into something postive(that’s GReat) but critizing people for not following you is not the way to get them to LISTEN! I am proud of david banner I just wish that he would have stayed on the subject a little bit more rather than go back and forth.

  23. Ketchums Says:

Shit like this is what makes David Banner the most relevant figure in hip-hop, across the board. Musically he’s incredible, but dude really sees that this shit is more than music
