The preppy singer’s CD was handily beating his Queens-born rapper foe’s in online sales on several sites as both albums debuted yesterday.
West’s “Graduation,” the latest installment in his college-themed trilogy, soared to the top of the charts on Amazon.com, while “Fitty’s” landed at a disappointing No. 6.
With iTunes, West’s new album was ranked as the second best seller of the day.
Why are people acting like the first week sales determine everything, lets see how the sales are looking in a month or two.

People are talking about first week sales because it usually sets the tone for how well the album will sell over time. If an artist sells 50,000 first week they more than likely will not be going platinum, albums that do that are a rarity. If an artist sells 500,000 and the album doesn’t go plat that’s a rarity, if you go gold first week it’s pretty much gauranteed you’re gonna go platinum or mulit plat.Anyways go Kanye go Kanye go Kanye I knew he would kick 50 ass.

Ola i feel ya a little bit but you have to look at it like this.. When was the last time hip hop had something like this. This is competition at its finest and the 2 people competing with each other are total opposites. Fans usually become fans because they can identify with the person.. They can relate in some sort of way. Kanye reps the everyday working dude that is not with killing or robbing or drug dealing… He raps about staying fly and enjoying the good life and his personal demons. 50 is the opposite of that. This is making a statement and “COULD” and notice I said “COULD” make a turning point in hip hop. Gangsta rap will always be here but if Kanye sells big it could up the bar for artists to talk about something different and up their production game. Both are good artists but look at the bigger picture. This feels like the same hype Doggy style had when snoop came out.. and look at what that did for him.. When I listen to both albums I hear better production on Kanye.. 50 tried hard.. he went back to the lab to try to save a already bad CD.. I get it and cameos did not save his CD. You can’t just rhyme over a beat and come up with a catch hook anymore… you gotta come with something that’s gonna make the PEOPLE FEEL YOU!!! Overall .. This is HIP HOP!!!!
