50’s album Get Rich or Die Tryin’ sold over 12 million records worldwide (7.5 mil in the US alone) compared to Kanye’s College Dropout which only sold 4 million (2.7 million in the US)
50’s next album The Massacre sold over 9.8 million records worldwide (just over 5 million in the US) while Kanye’s Late Registration sold only 2.8 in the US.
Both of Kanye’s albums combined wont even come close to any of 50’s albums that he’s released. 50 has sold 15 million more records than Kanye and if Kanye released another 3 – 4 albums, he still wouldn’t match 50 in terms of #’s.
But with the lack of success of 50s newest singles straight to the bank, and amusement park, he is not exactly prepping his album for success. America loves to see its heroes fail, and 50 bragging that he will retire if his album loses to kanye’s album in first weeks sales impies that America will most likely retaliate against his arrogance.
Kanye will sell more than 50. If YOU had a gun to your head and were told to say who you thought would sell more come tuesday September 18, and if you picked the right guy you would be spared your life but if your guy did not win you would have your brain swimming across a bathroom wall. WHICH ARTIST WOULD YOU SAY WOULD WIN?
Think long and hard. I know 50 dick riders aren’t accustomed to thinking like that, but if you were in that specific situation, who do YOU think would sell more????
Even though 50 has sold more albums than anyone else, and is one of the biggest sellers in the hip hop industry, you have to remember his first album sold because EMINEM, MArshall matters, the HOTTEST RAPPER OF THAT TIME, was his hype man, and JA RULE was his target. His second album sold when he was battling fat joe, nas, jada kiss, etc. Who does 50 have to target for CURTIS, who, camron? His first two singles are trash, personally I think AYO technology is trash too. So now people are forced to look at the quality of the music, is there any.
This is coming from someone who liked 50 back in GRODT days, back when 50 was doing the mixtape and grinding. Massacre is corny compared to GRODT and Curtis is straight garbage compared to Massacre, so tell me how on earth 50 can outsell kanye. After 50 started talking shit about our rap legends, hay, nas, biggie, tupac, who in their right mind can support the music he makes, as real street art.
Come sept 18 kan will win, and if he does not, well, at least we have concrete proof that Hip hop really is, dead.
