Nas Speaks About New Album & Missing Videos

MTV Mixtape Monday:

Yeah, man, I like to just put it out there that we shot a video for ‘Hustlers,’ ” Nas explained. “These guys still got the video, actually. The guy who shot the video, [R.] Malcolm Jones, is a different type of cat, man. I don’t know what’s going on with it, but they took too long. They been needing time. Then Spike Lee was set to [direct] ‘Black Republican,’ but me and Spike couldn’t come up with the perfect idea, so we let it ride as one of them tracks that was just there.

I’m really into [the idea of having] a summer album,” he added. “But they say the fourth quarter is for big dogs. I been doing the fourth quarter for years, so I guess I’m at home in the fourth.”

Jim Jones Talks About His 50 Cent Interview On Rap City

XXL: Isn’t 50 putting you in an awkward position, though? On the one hand, he’s going at your partner Cam’ron. But on the other, he’s praising you, saying you made it out of the Koch graveyard and you’re doing well for yourself. Doesn’t all that put a strain on your relationship with Cam?
Jim Jones: That shit that him and Cam going through is like the Sunday cartoons. That shit is frivolous. There’s really nothing that came up out that. If you look at the whole thing from the beginning, it was all pretty much bullshit. I never chose to get involved in it. It was real comical if you ask me. It was good for the soul, man. It was a battle—Kool Moe Dee/LL [Cool J]. Regular shit, man.

XXL: When was the last time you spoke to Cam then?
Jim Jones: Shit, the “We Fly High” video. [Laughs]

Official MTV Video Music Awards 07 Post (Videos & Pics)

The 2007 MTV Music Video Awards got off to an award start and never seemed to recover. The much hyped Britney Spears opener was a disaster. Britney Spears’ dance moves were lethargic and not very interesting. She didn’t even try to lip sync and was very boring. It was funny hearing Sarah Silverman proceed to play the hell out of her afterwards. Sarah had a funny comment with, “I think it’s cute he is  still alive(50 Cent),” But after that she lost me, talking about diarrhea, wtf? Chris Brown didn’t do a good job at lip syncing either but his dance moves made up for it. He delivered one of the better performances of the night. Rihanna was looking thicker during her quick performance of Umbrella(Where was Jay-Z).

MTV’s new concept of having performances take place in party rooms may of looked great on paper but was a mess on television. The big drawn out performances on center stage is what people want to see, not performances in small rooms with a sometimes dead crowd. The energy and camera angles just weren’t there. Kanye’s room did look popping though.

Alicia Keys did her thing and was looking on point. 50 Cent & Kanye West presenting an award together was a dud, they should of let them makes some jokes or something. I see people making a big deal over 50 & Beyonce not kissing, it’s not that serious. You guys noticed how bouncy Beyonce was on her way to the stage? Timbaland’s mix to end the show was ok but didn’t seem like a closer. Not really sure why MTV put him last, he was just trying to give his artist some shine. Overall MTV tried some new things but I don’t think they were executed well. The show had more than enough star power but didn’t

Sidenotes:
-Dr.Dre has turned into the incredible hulk
-Wtf was Lil Mama wearing?
-LOL@ Tommy Lee & Kid Rock fighting and everyone pointing out Rockers fight too, not only rappers.
