what marbury was trying to say (in my opinion) was that the media is crucifing Vick and to some cultures, it is no different than hunting deer. I just don’t think he conveyed his point in a way that wouldn’t be taken as an ignorant comment by some.
My problem with the situation is the amount of coverage this is getting. Don’t get me wrong, Vick fucked up by being involved in the situation, whether he was the ring leader or just watching and betting. But lets really look at what the fuck is going on.
You have Vick all over the media, day and night, ESPN, ESPN 2 and everything in between, and this is over something that has nothing to do with his on-field play. Then you have the Ref from the NBA, who not only pled guilty to fixing games, AND is going to identify 20 other Ref’s that have done betting which goes against NBA policy. That’s 1/3 of the refs that should be fired (according to David Stern’s no tolerance policy).
So the question is, what situation is hurting their sports more? Vick and personal bets about Dogs, or the Ref that corrupted the league!?!?

In my opinion, it is very well a sport. Human beings are a cruel relentless species. Historically we are known to lust for blood as entertainment, a prime example being the Roman colosseum where we pit person against person to the death. Tradition has carried into this day and age, where we have events like HBO Boxing, and UFC where people slug it out, but the difference is right now we dont fight to the death. But I guess its okay to suffer brain damage, deformed figure, and other problems resulting from heavy blows. As marbury stated hunting game is perfectly legal, where hunters prey on their targets and shoot rifle bullets through their brain.
Dogs are animals, just like every other animal in the wilderness. Just because they have a little more smarts, people are quick to feel bad about dogs fighting eachother, but everything else we as people do that I mentioned is perfectly fine? I dont think you can allow everything else , and ban one thing just because YOU feel like its a little worse than the others.
Dog fighting is no worse than anything else we do. These dogs sole purpose for existence on this earth is to fight and kill/protect (Pitbulls). Thats exactly what they were developed for when people crossed the bulldog with the terrier int he 1800’s. And lets not jump to conclusions here and say that every fight is to the death, because its not. The owner of either side can throw in the towel at any time, just like in boxing.

Whether something is illegal or not does not neccesarily have anything to do with whether something is good or bad. That being said, dog fighting can be considered a sport(and is by some people). cock fighting(hmm..) is also considered a sport(and I think it is also illegal). Now whether you think those 2 activiries are wrong is up to your moral judgement. Hunting is legal. I don’t consider hunting a sport but allota people do(including the Vice President). I feel like if you hunt with nuthing but a knife, then it could be considered a sport. or if you trained a animal to also use a gun and let it know that you’re facing off to the death with it, then it can be a sport. But shooting something from far away, for no apparent reason but the “thrill of the kill”, I’d say thats pretty wrong and inhumane. Marbury is somewhat right, people are tearing Vick down and pointing the finger at him like he’s Hitler or somethin. He was wrong because he did something illegal. I myself am kinda dissapointed at him. But if you’re going to point a rageful “he deserves to die like those dogs” self-righteous type finger at him, then you have to point that same finger at the farm industry. The way they treat their Chickens and cattle make Vick look like he works for PETA. i don’t see any outrage about the treatment of the animals we eat. I don’t see any outrage against the Hunters who outright kill animals for “sport”. The main thing here is that Vick did something illegal…he got caught…and now he’s getting punished. I don’t think Marbury was trying to defend Vick, I just think that he was trying to point out how hypocritical this country is.

The only reason Mike Vick is in trouble is because dogs are domesticated. Bullfighting is a (National sport) in Spain. It’s accepted by society. It’s part of Spanish culture. You can watch Bullfighting on TV 3-4 days a week and the Matadors are big stars over there in Spain.
Dog fighting on the other hand is NOT accepted by any society or country. Not in America, not in Spain and not in any country. It’s a criminal act. You still find dog fighting in many countries all over the world. It’s like an illegal culture so it’s very hush hush. These guys know what they’re doing so if they get caught then they just have to accept the fact that they will be punish for it. Michael Vick knew what he was doing was WRONG because it’s illegal and now he has to pay the price.

Dogfighting is fucked up because of what they do to dogs, they electrocute them, they drown them, and strangle them. Its basically forms of torture because they don’t die right way. If dogfighting was humane in any way(which its not) they would at least put it to sleep through injection or something that doesn’t torture the animal. It is no way related to a sport or hunting, so no comparison can be made. How about some you stop trying so hard by misspelling words and typing in internet ebonics, and at least try and understand what the hell you’re talking about.

now if deer hunters found ways to train deer to rip each others flesh apart for human entertainment, as well as electrocuted and hung a few deer—-then yes, Marbury would have a decent argument. but that aint the case. the shoot them, take’em out quick, then eat their meat.
and for all this talk about him being treated unfairly because of race, that’s some bullsh!t. it’s much more about fame. Paris Hilton sure aint black, did her whiteness save her when she got locked up for a DWI? nope. like 10000 people get DWI’s each year, so it aint like what she did was very rare, but that didnt mean sh1t. being famous has its price, especially when you fukk up.

people are dragging this dude through the mud. it is all a bunch of bullshit. nobody says anything about horse racing. they drug these horses up and the average life span of a race horse is about 3 years when they are done they take them around back and shot them. they starve grey hounds and race them and it is all good. people need to get over it and move on. let him do his few months and start over with his life.
