NY was the reason for the demise of hip hop. Everyone in NY needs beef to sell records. These guys in the south just have fun with it and sell more.

WHAT KILLS ME IS IF THE BEAT IS WHAT YOU LIKE … WHY ARE YOU BIGGING UP THE ARTIST AND NOT THE PRODUCER ???? THINK ABOUT IT !!! DONT SAY THE ARTIST IS HOT CAUSE HE HAS HOT BEATS !!! This song = whats wrong with hip-hop. I coulda made this song in 5 minutes with a keyboard. and the vid woulda taken another 5 with a few costumes and cell phones. if anyone thinks this shit should be mentioned in the same league with the likes of Nas, Mos, Jay, or any hip-hop artist you’re fuckin nuts. and realtalk @ #48. the artist just makes the bullshit lyrics. cuz thats all south rap is, nice ass beats with bullshit lyrics and dumbass dances.

52.
$GIT IT BOY$ wrote on August 10th, 2007 at 6:11 am

Plus anyway yall dumb fucks gotta remember dat it b alot of children watchin these videos and listenin to rap! Instead of learning how to sell drugs they can learn a new dance song! So Y NOT! So dont say its bad for hip hop cause its not! More music similar to this will even out all of tha bullshit that YALL listenin to now!

Joey A wrote on August 10th, 2007 at 6:17 am

oh and 44, you’re a fuckin moron. this is the exact opposite of anything that hip-hop stands for. i’m sure when KRS-One, Juice Crew, Fat Boys, Run DMC and every other founder of hip-hop first started this thing, they were hoping one day hip-hop would evolve to this. I’m sure this shit is the reason those guys started what is today, modern hip-hop. all this is is dance music, no different than the macarena with a better beat, but i bet the macarena lasted longer than this shit will.

55.
Joey A wrote on August 10th, 2007 at 6:19 am

@52. You can rap about other shit than being gangster and sellin drugs, and still be good a good rapper. I.E. Lupe Fiasco, Kanye, Common. they don’t talk about being hard and pushing shit. but they don’t come out with no chicken noodle soup either, ya dig?

56.
juicygotemcrazy wrote on August 10th, 2007 at 6:26 am

yea, its cute for the kids, i agree. its just not my style at all. not because its from the south, not because it doesnt have violence. it just dont fit my swag. next!!

57.
$GIT IT BOY$ wrote on August 10th, 2007 at 6:35 am

@55 i know they dont write about it but like i said b4! Its good to even tha shit out! Aignt no shorty gonna understand
Lupe,Kanye,Common. They too real and too deep. BUT they would understand 50 and any otha nigga who talk about shit like dat cause its all on tv! So wether you like tha song or not. It may b bullshit… BUT SOMEBODY is gonna like it. Like i said its needed! i wont b buyin this shit! I want b bumpin it in tha car! BUT its still needed!

Lovely_NYC wrote on August 10th, 2007 at 7:24 am

First off…not all southern hip hop music is bad (i.e. T.I. UGK, Outkast) but the snap music that is getting the most attention is garbage. I’m tired of the south trying to discredit New York. If it wasn’t for us, there would be no Hip-hop…so show us some fucking respect. And why everytime are there so many people on here saying that all ny rappers talk about selling drugs and being on the block. Southern rappers do the same exact thing (Jeezy, Wayne, Young Joc) the difference is they have no lyrical skills (except for Wayne who is good but overrated, but I digress).
@ 40- the young kids are the ones that dance to that south shit in NY, you don’t see too many adults in the audience of 106 and Park anymore. Furthermore, they like that shit cuz thats all they hear on the radio and see on t.v. Real hip hop doesn’t get any air time on any mediums…media is saturated with this bullshit, that is why they young kids fuck with it…they don’t know any better. And this is another reason why they got the bubblegum shit like chicken noodle soup and aunt jackie and all that stuff…cuz ny seeing that they can’t get no money if they don’t get on that bullshit bandwagon…which is unfortunate. If you are a true artist you should not want to change yourself to conform to the masses. New York has plenty of lyricist and great rappers who are still doing their thing but get no burn from mainstream media…the game is fucked up!

Final Note: I’m tired of all you south people talking about how these snap “rappers” are selling…they are not selling records, they sell their one hit singles and ringtones. At the end of the day their money is not long…for real and once the hype of the single goes away so will their two seconds of fame (i.e. D4L, Franchise boys, shop boyz) the list goes on….

**NEW YORK till I die…where we set trends and stay Flyy!**

75.
Serengeti wrote on August 10th, 2007 at 1:04 pm

First off, #58 makes an excellent point. I think that this is for the most part, a generational thing. Kids (everywhere) listen to this type of music. I mean, just take a look at the video, most of the people in it are little kids. To be honest, I couldn’t imagine a grown ass man bumpin’ something like this. LOL. I thought the video was funny, but the record is what it is.

Question tho, what’s with all the south and ny bashin’ on this site? What difference does it make where these artists come from? Wack is wack, and while we have plenty of talented artists here, we have plenty of wack ass so-called MCs also. Seems like the animosity goes way past music. Since I’ve been on this site, I’ve heard a lot cats on here sayin’ some pretty foul shit about dudes from the south, callin’ em coons and shit like that. WTF??? Quite a few of us up here have roots in the South, so why are we dissin’ these cats so hard? It’s cool to rep where you from and all, but remember, it’s only a small part of who you are. Don’t be so caught in reppin’ where you from, that you can’t appreciate where another cat is from. Also, you can’t expect another cat to respect you just because you’re from the region that created Hip-Hop, especially if you can’t respect them. Not one person from NY on this blog had anything to do with the birth of Hip-Hop. Our forefathers created Hip-Hop, not us. In fact, the dudes that created Hip-Hop don’t just belong to us in NY, they’re everyone’s forefathers….

Just my opinion on this seemingly never-ending topic. Hopefully, I didn’t offend anyone….

This song is a testament to the wonders of marketing. By that I mean this song is complete GARBAGE. The beat is ok, but the lyrics sound like they were written in 15 minutes. Look, I’m from the south and I got love for southern rappers doing there thang, but this shit is just plain embarrassing. It just goes to show if you play a song enough on the radio and spend some change on the video you can almost will it into popularity. I can’t stand it when NY dydes come on here talking shit about the south but its garbage like this video here that gives them ammunition. I can’t wait till this dude’s 15 minutes runs out and they stop playing this shit on the radio.

I like the competition comin from the souf.
It makes us better as you will see soon.
When the west coast had snoop, we got BIG and Nas..you’ll see
New York does not hate the south at all. We just feel pride towards the art that we created so some of us feel discusted that rap moved back to the 80’s..we worked so fuckin hard to make hiphop nex level and this is not nex level. that all.
New York created club hiphop. we need more! that ALL.
Hot 97 plays that shit all got dam day and mufuckas also bump southern music up here.

stop the petty shit..IGNORANT LOSERS LOSE.

Just like the hard records get old, so do the party records. And for cryin outloud they all sound the same. And if you don’t want anycomplaints, why don’t ya’ll just keep that shit in the south while the other coasts continue to make the best music. And come on people. Ya’ll act like like New York is a place full of depressed people that don’t like to party. What about songs like Big Poppa, Touch It, In Da Club, PIMP, Last Night, This Is Why I’m Hot, Hot Thing, Make Me Better, Diamonds, I Just Wanna Love You, Lean Back, 21 Questions, Rappers Delight, Check The Rhime, Trade It All, Hypnotize, One More Chance, All About The Benjamins, Magic Stick, Aunt Jackie, Chicken Noodle Soup, It’s Me Bitches, Top Down, Money In The Bank, Crush On You, Electric Slide, Harlem Shake, Control Myself, Mesmerized, Come To Me, Change Clothes, Big Pimpin, Girls Girls Girls, I Can, Oochie Wally, Just A Lil Bit, On Fire, So Sedcutive, No Matter What They Say, I’m Lovig You Tonight, Whateva, Feel So Good, Conceited, What You Want, So Into You and the list can go on. Some of ya’ll probably can’t even remember who half these songs were made by cuz you were brainwashed into thinking that New York was too serious. Look at these songs. These songs are feel good songs man. So don’t tell me that New York is too hard for the souths taste. I don’t know how you can say that looking at these songs. Let me continue. Amusement Park,Ayo Technology,Follow My Lead,I Get Money,Straight to the Bank, Like this, I Love My Bitch,Pass the Courvoisier, Make It Clap,I Know What You Want, Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See, Doin It, Headsprung, We Fly High, Oh Yes, There It Go (The Whistle Song, Hey Ma, Tell Me, I Need A Girl , Can I Get a…, Excuse Me Miss, Get Me Home, Not Tonight (Remix), How Many Licks, The Jump Off, What’s Luv?, Get It Poppin’, Make It Rain, Still Not a Player, Shake Yo Ass Bitch, Always on Time, Down Ass Chick, I’m So Fly, Hands Up, Help, Curious, I Know You Don’t Love Me, Whatta Man, Electric Relaxation, Best Friends and the fuckin list can continue. Not o even mention the shit that’s not released as singles. Ya’ll need to know that New York can have a good time just like the south without bein as corny.
