Should There Be A Law To Make Showing Boxers/Thongs In Public Illegal?
Baggy pants that show boxer shorts or thongs would be illegal under a proposed amendment to Atlanta’s indecency laws.
The amendment, sponsored by city councilman C.T. Martin, states that sagging pants are an “epidemic” that is becoming a “major concern” around the country.
“Little children see it and want to adopt it, thinking it’s the in thing,” Martin said Wednesday. “I don’t want young people thinking that half-dressing is the way to go. I want them to think about their future.”
The proposed ordinance would also bar women from showing the strap of a thong beneath their pants. They would also be prohibited from wearing jogging bras in public or show a bra strap, said Debbie Seagraves, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia.
I’m all for banning the sagging jeans, but a bra strap is not that serious.

This is a perfect example of trying to walk left and right at the same time. If your gonna stike up an issue as something so frivilous as sagging pants and showing bra straps then that means that the movies showing in America’s movie theatres need to completely ban nudity, curisng, not censor them ban them. Young kids can be influenced by any and everything so singling out sagging pants and showing bra straps as setting a bad example is retarted. Young kids can also be influenced by movies, music, tv, video games and even sports that display negative or not so appropriate images and these mediums of entertainment are much more powerful and influential then ordinary people on the street half dressing. Not to mention trying to control what people wear or how they wear it is inhibiting their rights and freedom in this so called free country, proclaimed America. It’s should be left up to the parents on how to raise their kids and show them right from wrong and appopriate from inappropriate not the government.
When I was younger I would see sagging pants, showing thongs and bra staps all the time, but those kinds of things did not influence me one bit because by that age I already knew what was classy and unclassy and that’s thanks to my parents. Little kids can see and adopt anything depending on what morals and values they were raised with. And even still the government can’t infringe upon a child’s right to have a mind of their own because sometimes kids will adopt certain mannerisms even if they have not been influenced by anyone or even if they have been told it’s wrong. In schools the D.A.R.E program is mandatory and teaches kids the dangers of smoking and drugs ect, but look how many kids still do it anyway. In my high school(in the suburbs) it was the it thing to smoke weed and smoke ciggarettes and guess who engaged in this activity the most the white kids….but that’s another topic for another day.
My point is city councilman C.T. martin needs to sponser another amendment that is gonna be more productive and effective because sagging pants and showing bra straps are not relevant or significant compared to the mattering issues that he should be more concerned about. The issue of not half dressing is not what is necesarily gonna secure our childrens future or keep them on the right path. There are more important major concerns around the country. Propose and sponser a more substantial amendment please!!!!!!!!!!
