The south would not be where it is or of the content they / “we” are of if hip-hop didn’t naturally progress to where it is today. We voted for 50 after he was shot 9 times. We wanted him, his picture to be success. And now everybody is copying. And if they can’t copy, they talk all that is left…jewels. Now I challenge any one of you who is hating on the south, as if the south is not a segment of hip-hop’s whole, to look back at how we voted. Get Rich or Die Tryin was the turning point. When everybody handed over the leadership role to 50, who may not have wanted all of those responsiblities but got them none the less. Now, as immature (in a comparative way) as he is, he is expected to carry the game. He’s not ready for that. He hasn’t matured as an artist yet. He’s hott, but even he understands he has room to grow. People, stop hating on the south for doing what hustlers do, surviving. We as a whole caused the wound and the south smeeled blood and reacted. Can you blame them for surviving? Do you want them to change their money making style so that the east can get back on? Would it change anything? Ultimately, the power lies with us the buyers. We must choose what we think will make hip-hop survive as an art form. On september 11th we will pick what we want. I aint listen to the interview or whatever because I sincerely do not care what Havoc has to say, however, I am tired of East Coast apologists trying to save bullshit music from weak ass “artists”.

Within the Hip Hop industry many Southerners have an inferiority complex when it comes to the East and (to a lesser extent) the West Coast and all that keyboard critics and message board cowards do is reinforce their misguided insecurities. People like Havoc don’t rep for me. I aint never been a hater just for the sake of hating.

I’m a BK born and bred B-boy brother that battles beats with bars and box with box cutters and I have absolutely NO problem with the great acts that have come from the South over the years and I readily acknowledge their contribution to our collective music culture. With that said, I will always call a spade a spade and let niggas know when they are fukkin’ up.

The majority of the horrible music that is coming out now is from the South, not because the South has exclusive rights to crap music, but because they had the spotlight for so long. They had some of the strongest albums and some of the weakest albums in recent memory come from their region simply because anything below the Mason-Dixon line was being greenlighted by industry executives who only know how to follow trends instead of creating and developing new talent.

Guess what though? Nothing is selling now.

Established artists are the only ones that currently have a chance of performing well in this market. T.I. didn’t sell because he was Southern … he sold because he’s dope and he has worked as hard as anybody else to gain exposure to new audiences and ensure his longevity. On the other hand, Hurricane Chris will not sell, not because he’s from the South, but because he is a 1 hit wonder … the same as Mims. Their records are bigger than them and they can’t sustain the hype … it is what it is. I don’t hate the South … I just can’t fukk with lame ass niggas from anywhere across the map. The South is not the enemy yo … having no standards is.

Do yall remember when rappers were cool? LOL. Fukk these clowns and keep your eyes on the stars. Holla @ ya boy in BK!

It don’t get promoted as much as a TI album would have gotten promoted. Look how pitiful this is. New York then took the roots given to them by Chicago which were birthed down south and then formed what is today know as hip-hop.
