Review of Kanye West’s Graduation & Comment On Song Dedicated To Jay-Z

Breaking down the lack of guest appearances and skits in comparison to previous efforts West explains, “There’s just serious songs, hooks, chords and ideas. No special effects or antics,” before joking, “and no fake Bernie Mac!” The seriousness is in response to a lot of heat the Louis Vuitton Don has been getting from various sectors, “This album is like what made Muhammad Ali great. Sure he’s remembered for being a great fighter, but he’s also remembered for getting up off the mat whenever he was knocked down.

Full Review

Kanye comments on his song about Jay-Z entitled, “Big Brother”:

Kanye - who reportedly has a pop at Jay-Z in one of the new tracks - admitted: “Bad news travels fast so I expect some people to focus on certain lines.

“But I also sing, ‘If you admire someone you should tell ‘em/No one get flowers when you can still smell them’.

“When I played it to Jay he was emotional.”

You all are pathetic and insecure.

Regardless of whether this album measures up to his previous two, Kanye has to be respected for what he has done to the game. He has made everyone step it up a notch.

@money in the bank: I’m not buying that shit at all. It was Dame who first believed in the dude and notice his skills. It was Dame who was giving him props and was bragging about Ye. Kanye said the shit himself. When Jay first met the dude, he kind of brushed him off but now you making Big Brother? Get the fuck out of here. Anyway Graduation is going to be a classic, so I’ll cop it but Death before Dishonor any day.

DOES IT REALLY MATTER IF DUDE IS GAY OR NOT? WHEN HAS HE MADE A RECORD TALKING ABOUT SHOOTING UP YO MOMMAS CRIB OR SOMETHING? HATING ASS FUCK BOI’S GIVE ME A BREAK. HE IS AN ORIGINAL ARTIST AND SHOWING YOU THAT HE IS A HUMAN BEING NOT THIS TOUGH GUY FACADE THAT BREAKS DOWN WHEN HE IS OFF STAGE BECAUSE HE HAS TO ACT SOOO HARD. HE WAS SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT WHEN HE CAME INTO THE GAME TO JUST BE HISELF AND NOT TRY TO BE LIKE THE OTHER 1 BILLION RAPPERS TALKING ABOUT NOTHING ELSE BUT SEX,DRUGS,CARS AND YES,SHOOTING UP YO MAMMAS HOUSE. YE’ MUSH RESPECT AND I CAN’T WAIT TO COP THE ALBUM……

Thats because J is about the musiic and Ye and Hov connect on that level… they spent time in the studios… they worked on music together… Ye made the Takeover shit for him and that says alot if u makin some hardcore shit like that to go at NaS.Dame isnt about music… hes about makin money… he and 50 should mess well… Im not sayin it was right for him to do that but Jay-Z made Ye feel more comfortable cuz he is a musician and they prolly chilled a alot more than i could see Ye and Dame chilin… Dame may have gotten him the deal but Jay got him the fame… on Guess whos back… yellin out Chi Town… puttin Ye’s name out there… workin on his album and shit… How u gonna be mad at dude… Thats like sayin Ya mother birthed you and left you for ya father and he raised you… mom dukes left so who do u give the credit to…???

Now I am in no way, shape, form, nor fashion condoning dedicating songs to men other than fathers, but DAMN, if that’s how a nigga feels, then (say this slow) THAT’S HOW A NIGGA FEELS! Ye makes real music, which should be a reflection of your mindset. His admiration for Jay-Z just happened to be on his mind at the time, and he developed it into a song. This is the foundation of Hip-Hop people. And stop saying that gay shit about Ye. Shit it doesn’t matter either way. It’s dudes business, as long as he keeps it that way. My 2 cents!

yos wrote on August 16th, 2007 at 8:22 pm

yea its gay to make a track about a dude you looked up to and is ya mentor. only real fa ggots would think thats gay. kanye is a real dude, a real dude in the sense of an everyday person, not some fake azz gangsta living in CT. Kanye does him, like he said”everything I’m not, makes me everything I am”

This nigga kanye spent so much time in the studio with jay, jay helped him become the artist he is today, i swear sumtime when u hear a person’s argument u can tell whether he listens to music, beats, drums, lyrics. or he just listens for name dropping, superstar features, and bullshit beats. if u listen to kanye from thru the wire to today u can see how he grew as a rapper. he learned to ride the beat.(no homo). he learned to speak his mind to speak it loud and clear. to rhyme with speaking his mind. ya’ll crazy would u rather he called jay his daddy, and kissed him and took pictures on magazines with him shirtless. damn cant a nigga say that dude is like my big brother, and if it wasnt for him i wouldnt have any of this. damn ya’ll niggas so god damned thugged out that ya’ll cant even say thanx. crabs in a fuckin barrel 4real

Damn there’s a lot of people up in here that need to grow up. KW has certainly grown. Look this latest album in my op. isn’t up to the standard of his other 2, esp his first. But that’s just me. Nevertheless I just cannot get over the fools on here that think a man cannot give credit to another man where credit is felt to be due. If you were down like brothers with another man, wouldn’t you want to pay him respect? Black culture reaps of it from hi 5’s to the hugs to show much love (respect) that we see often see. What’s with people? Get real, if you don’t get this it’s telling something about yourself, either you have homophobic issues, are selling out yourself because YOU are afraid to appear as something you don’t want others to perceive you as, or you are an egotistical person that never thanks those who join you at times on your path thru life. damn.
