Haven’t purchased an album since 04 but I might have to buy this one. I’m liking everything I’ve heard so far.
I remember when The Blueprint came out, Hot97 was playing damn near every track. This was also the case with Get Rich Or Die Tryin. I’ve got a feeling their going to do the same shit with Graduation. And this is when the word “Classic” will be thrown around. I will probably wholeheartedly agree.

album sales used to mean something to me but ppl download albums so fast theres almost no point in buying them anymore. u gotta make me wanna buy ur album now. when it comes to “curtis” all 5 of those singles arent doing it 4 me. plus 3 of his diss tracks arent doing anything as well. so as u kno, i wont be buying “curtis”, hell im still trying to give away my “massacre” cd if anybody wants it.
with kanye, as soon as i heard “can’t tell me nothing” i was sold, thas a hood anthem and when ur riding in ur whip and u got dat song on, it jus comes out hard. i didnt kno wut to think of “stronger” at first cuz it went over my head a few times. but u gotta give it the car test. when dat record comes on in ur car and u hear the strings, celo, piano, and drums come from all different directions w/ those lyrics its great to listen to.
now ive been to a 50 concert and a kanye concert. the 50 concert wasnt all dat great but this was back when he first came out so he was still a rookie when it came to performing. the concert was ehh, typical rap concert, jus him a hype man and the dj.
when i went to a kanye concert, it was jus on a different level, he had different colored sets. he had his dj but he had the most amazing live band w/ great back ground singers that made those songs on his album come to life. most rappers/rockers sound horrible live, only a few sound better live, and kanye is in that select few. i went to jay-z’s “reasonable doubt” concert and he even has taken kanye’s theme w/ live bands, almost all the rappers are doin dat now, and they wouldnt have if kanye didnt introduce it.
record sales almost mean nothing anymore if ppl like mims are having #1 albums. 10 years from now ppl arent gonna remember how many records u sold ppl are gonna remember how many CLASSIC SONGS U HAD. look at reasonable doubt/illmatic, both albums didnt sell when they first came out BUT are still remembered 10 years later as being damn near perfect albums.
the difference between kanye and 50 is, 50 is now a business man and since the “massacre” he has sucked musically. kanye isnt bout the business even tho he charges an arm and a leg 4 beats so financially kanye is in a space, most will never see. ergo he completely focuses on his music. thas y kanye always gets recognized by award shows.
50 cent says he doesnt get awards cuz he’s a gangsta rapper lolol. nigga u dont get awards cuz ur albums suxx. trust me a lotta artists have sold way more albums then u and have no grammys. if the award show doesnt like ur songs, theyre not gonna let u win. u cant say cuz u rap bout being a gangsta thas the reason why they never give u an award. nigga jay-z been rapping bout dat same shit 10 years earlier and he’s gotten awards in the process.

but since everybody want this to be a competition lets see how both record labels will do on 9/11.
interscope made millions of copies of the album, then got no buzz and had to destroy those copies to push the album back (lost millions). put out 2 vids w/ no buzz (lost money), put out 2 more vids w/ one having JT and timbo and still not gettin that buzz (JT + timbo + expensive vid = money down the drain). somebody there leaks the 5th single (lost millions) and thas jus bad. with this 50 cent project, interscope has lost money, all that 1st week money would have to go to interscope first to pay off dat debt jus to break even. the thing is, 50 will def buy the albums himself (so he’s losing his own money there). if interscope buys the albums also that jus adds on to the debt or if they jus say fuck 50 altogether they basically take an L and call it a day cuz they already lost a lotta dough w/ this project.
def jam has basically not promoted kanye at all. i mean 50 cent is all the promotion they need cuz 50 is always bringing up kanye in his interviews before the person interviewing him does. kanye has put out 2 vids, which is a loss of money but theyll get dat money back when the album drops. def jam hasnt really spent a dime on kanye, so they have no debt unlike interscope and will only make money on this day will interscope may either break even or jus take their loss of money and do suttin else. the funny position that kanye is in is his fans will buy his cd. also everyone that hates 50 will buy kanye (industry ppl, other record labels, regular ppl, rappers, bloggers, etc etc), so thas y its gonna be close on who comes in at #1. so either way, its a win/win 4 def jam regardless of where kanye comes in cuz the label hasnt lost any money promoting him while interscope has lost millions on 50’s project.

weezy u dumb as shyt. Who’s the real 50 then is he a thug or is he a pop singer. Cause on Get Rich he had huge singles and he didnt need all these guests, and other obvious ploys to get a hit. Most good albums you can never tell what the single is because every song is so good. Kanye talks what he really lives, 50 talks his little fantasy stuff so little white boys in Missouri can live there version of “thug life”. Obviously he’s not shooting any cops, or people for that matter, so he’s rapping about stuff he aint doing. Tell him to worry about how G-Unit members can’t sell a damn CD, while GOOD music artists continously go platinum. By the way my other favorite rappers other than Kanye are Styles P, Joell Ortiz, The Game, Jadakiss, and of course Jay-Z/Nas. I feel obligated to buy ‘Graduation.’ ‘College Dropout’ came out my freshman year of college. That CD straight up shut down the school. All you saw was niggas walking around with hoodies and headphones. There were listening parties, and it really added to the college experience.
‘Late Registration’ came out during my junior year. I had relocated back home because of Hurricane Katrina. Two CDs help me get through that period: Little Brother’s ‘The Minstral Show’ & Kanye West’s ‘Late Registration.’ Even though I felt like his album was somewhat overproduced, he definitely stepped his game up. His first album garnered my attention, his second one garnered my respect.
I graduated in may, so the title of his upcoming album is so appropriate. I can’t judge the new album, because I haven’t heard it. However, no other albums have symbolized the last four years of my life like the catalogue of Kanye West. Therefore, I have to cop this new one.
I’m now in medical school, so I wonder what’s after ‘Graduation?’

After reading a lot of these comments, I’ve come to the conclusion that the majority of you are either pre-teens or of-age morons.
Big Brother is a very emotional track. The fact that he’s a rapper/ very good producer gives him a big edge on competition. He doesn’t have to worry about someone else making a beat, then have to match lyrics with it. Nope, he says exactly what he wants to say, HOW he wants to say it. That melody for Big Brother is crazy.
