Yessir, I was in the place to be last night and I must say it was OFF THE CHARTS. Solange Knowles celebrated her 21st birthday party and over 1000 people from all over showed up at the Contemporary Art Museum in Houston, TX to help her celebrate (there were also a few hundred outside who were’t fortunate enough to make it in). The drinks were flowing, the music was blasting, and the party was rocking. It was definitely a good look.
As I was in VIP, your boy got a chance to chop it up briefly with Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz (!!!) They weren’t trying to do too much interview type stuff but wanted to let the fans know that they appreciate the support. I can’t front, I was pretty shocked to see Jay in the place, so that was a dope surprise. Good dudes. Lil’ Wayne was also in the house chillin’ with Hova so if any beef exists it wasn’t very apparent last night . Matthew and Tina Knowles were there to celebrate their baby girl’s 21st; also spotted were Kelly Rowland, Bun B, Mike James (of the Houston Rockets), Damon Jones (Cleveland Cavaliers), Representative Sheila Jackson-Lee, and Slim Thug. Last but certainly not least, Beyonce’ herself was there in all of her glory. Unfortunately, my fingers could not process the instructions that my brain was giving them and I was unable to get a picture . Props to Kamikaze for getting THE definitive Beyonce photo of the night.
De La Soul’s Maseo was on the ones and twos and kept the party movin’. Lupe Fiasco came and performed opened up with his verse from “Touch the Sky” and then performed a few hits off of Food and Liquor as well as some of his mixtape cuts. The crowed was amped during his whole entire performance rapping line for line. Again, it was definitely a good look. Swizz Beatz took the stage after Lupe and did snippets of “I’m A Hustler”, “Bring ‘Em Out”, and “Down Bottom.” Soon he started up “It’s Me b!tches” but said he was tired of doing that song. The beat cranked back up and Weezy took the stage and rapped his bars from the remix. The crowd ate it up but still wanted more as chants of “Hova!” echoed through the crowd. No such luck though. If you were in H-Town and you weren’t there last night, then I must say ’sorry for ya’ cause you missed out.
