Sprint Sponsoring A File-Shared Song
Media Defender will push 16 million Plies song files embedded with the Sprint logo onto peer-to-peer networks over a three-month period in return for a “substantial six-figure” fee to be divided between Media Defender, Atlantic Records, Plies and his publishing company.
Once embedded, the Sprint logo will be attached to the files forever and will appear alongside Plies’ name and the song title on the screen of a desktop computer, iPod, cellphone or any other digital music player.
Interesting business idea, it is good to see people embracing the Internet. What are your thoughts on the concept?

I’ve seen blogs already do this: embed their logo with the songs you download from the website; definitely a smart idea, cause you ain’t stopping the internet… just like interscope thought it could pull all the copies of the leaked 50/JT track… that shit is WORLDWIDE.

ITS BRAND PROMOTION STYLE101. SPRINT IS ASKING THEM TO ADD THEIR LOGO TO THEIR SONGS SO THEY CAN BE DOWNLOADED FOR FREE. THAT WAY SPRINT GETS ADVERTISMENT, AND 16 MIL POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. 16 MILL PEOPLE WILL SEE THEIR LOGO, ITS A GOOD WAY TO ADVERTISE.

FOR EXAMPLE, A GOOD IDEA WOULD BE FOR 50 TO OFFER HIS I GET MONEY TRACK OR ANOTHER GOOD TRACK FOR FREE ON DOWNLOAD SITES. HE COULD PUT VITAMIN WATER LOGOS ON EVERY SINGLE SONG SO WHEN YOU DOWNLOAD IT YOU SEE THE LOGOS. THIS WOULD BE A GREAT WAY TO GET ADVERTISEMENTS INTO PEOPLES HOMES, AND THERE WOULD BE MORE POTENTIAL VITAMIN WATER CUSTOMERS.

^^^Oh. I still don’t see how Atlantic Records is gonna get any money. And who the fuck is Plies? What song has he come out with. If he is not a top 40 artist, I don’t know who he is. Is he Reggie or Hip-Hop, you know the media groups them all together.

I dont know about plies, I think thats the dude that did the song with T Pain.but Atlantic is getting paid by Sprint to have their logos on its songs. Thats how they going to make that money.

yea i think this is a good way for Record Labels to recoupe from declining record sales and maximize their profits on the high download rate. I bet in like 2 or 3 years every song we download will have a logo on it. This will help rappers make some money off of their onehitwonders too. If they did this wit MIMS he would be caking right now.
