BET Changes, “Hot Ghetto Mess,” To, “We Got To Do Better”
In a very lame move to save face, BET has renamed it’s controversial show, “Hot Ghetto Mess,” to, “We Go To Do Better.” I see this as a weak attempt to make the show appear as a positive thing. The owner of the website, “Hot Ghetto Mess,” has even released a letter trying to put a positive spin on the trash being showcased.
My mission with this site is to usher in a new era of self-examination. And because I am proud member of the black community, they are my priority. However, those of other races take note and if the shoe fits wear it. I think it is time that the black community or (insert your race here) needs to take a good look at itself in the mirror and each of us ask ourselves why are our communities are going to hell.
This site does not proclaim to know the answer to that question, for the answer is different for each of us. I want each and every person that reads these words to look at your life and ask how you can make yourself better, your community better or your kids better.
Full Letter
What a load of BS, you are profiting from exploiting African Americans. In no way will broadcasting the material shown on the website help make a positive change in any community.

I agree with real talk its not going to change the community

The show was just for laughs in the beggining but when people started getting offended and mad they make it seem like its some positive thing, but some of the shit I saw on the website had me LMAO!

Its a known fact BET sucks and are sellouts who get direct orders from the powers that be at Viacom to dumb down, water down and humiliate. Shit, if it weren’t for Wayans Bros & Jamie Foxx show, I wouldn’t be watching at all. Even change the channel during commerical breaks so I dont have to see what corny ass shit they got airing or what rappers Rocsi & Terrence going to be ass-kissing next.
Tell Em Why You Mad: I don’t know who’s more annoying, Terrence or Rosci. I’d say Terrence because of his failed attempts to imitate Funkflex & Big Tigger while kissing ass Angie Mar-style.

I like Terrence and Rosci. They’re doing a good job. Why are people always so negative all the time. People used to say the same thing about A.J. and Free..”Oh I can’t stand them”, “they’re corny as hell” and blah blah blah.

Because ain’t shit to be positive about. And I don’t know about those other people, but I never had a problem with Free & AJ or even Julissa & Tigger. But those two irk the shit out of me. Guess they ain’t for my age group or some shit.

Black People are waaaaaay too sensitive now. You never hear white people complaining about Jackass or anything that makes “white people look bad” I know when I was on the Hot Ghetto Mess website I thought it was funny and horrible at the same time. But you have to remember that the people that are being portrayed are real people! They aren’t some actors acting a ghetto mess they are real people.

BET and any entity aligned with this show is garbage.
Where is the show: “You’re a Credit” ?
In this show you highlight Blacks who are plagued by ghetto antics but have risen above to achieve something for the race.
Everyone- please know the sellout when you see him.

Does anybody remember like back in the 90s BET wasn’t all that bad. I remember the show Teen Summit ( a positive youth show for teens dealing with real world issues)I think Ananda Lewis hosted the show for a while before going to MTV. Midnight love, top 25 countdown, video soul, lift every voice, hits from the street, Caribbean rhythms with host Rachel etc. Now it’s all about that dollar. The purpose of the channel is long gone now.

Hey remember Cita’s World. That animated bullshit they came up with back in early 2000. I mean that show gave a negative portrayal of the Black Community, mainly because of Cita’s presentation. Remember she was loud, had a opinionated persona, and wore short outfits despite her being a computer image. That show got on my nerves simply because of listening to her. LOL

BET buckled under the pressure. I only had a issue with it because I knew that the message would not be given in an intelligent way, it would only be straight entertainment.

#13 good point about Teen Summit! how about Video Soul with Donnie Simpson. remember that? Damn BET SUCKS!!! every damn commerical is about buying a hip hop ringtone or BET Awards repeat. Terrence I wish u disappear….NOW. YOUR the worst. I sware to GOD you are horrible! GO NOW!!!

I never eally liked BET, and I’m a white person, but I see BET as a negative stereotype for Black people. I like hiphop & R&B music but that’s all mostly I saw when it started. But lately that doesn’t seem to be the problem. Now and then I watch old shows Like Martin, Jamie Foxx and Waynes Brothers that show up but it seems that’s the best. The movies they show are good to but truth be told the Tv shows suck. Hot Ghetto mess honestly should not be shown on BET; I can see it upon the internet, I’m not completely bashing this show but if it wasn’t racist & all most hardcore pornographic I’d say it might have a chance to be on at night. But the nerve of him to say it’s positive, that’s just shady. I only wish there were more positive Tv stations the Black community; I mean make a comedy station or a kids station, do something outside the boundrys of what we seen so far. How come Tyler Perry isn’t making tv shows for BET; I know he started House of pain but mistake me if i’m wrong but I don’t think they show that on BET.
