Ad Company That Wants You To, "Shoot," The Rapper, May Now Have To Pay Him
Rapper 50 Cent has launched a $1 million lawsuit against an advertising company which began airing a game called Shoot the Rapper. Online advertising company Traffix Inc allegedly used an image of the rapper in this pop-up game and this unauthorized usage has irked 50 Cent.
50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, brought the suit against the company on Friday. His lawyer Peter Raymond agreed that the promotion does not use his client’s name, but the likeness is there for all to see. “For all those reasons, he is personally offended,” said Mr Raymond.
What the hell was the ad company thinking?

I heard of this 4 quite some time now and feel the media loves to “shit” on rap music and hip-hop in general. I honestly hope this is another mil (or quarter of it) for 50 to receive because Traffix INC. played themselves and were very insensitive about the issue. Especially a dude who got shot 9 times, etc……Come’ on!

This is what bothers me about the whole thing. When 50 first came out, every other sentence coming up of his mouth was “I got shot 9 times.” The dude walks around with a bulletproof vest on. You could hear guns going off on every other record. The dude in the beginning of his career seemed to glorify his experience. And people ate it up like “Oh, 50 a real n*gga” “He’s gangsta” blah blah blah…
And something like this gets him angry enough to sue? Their lawyers (if they are smart AND if it ever gets to court), are going to tear 50’s image apart and rightfully so. You get upset that a game wants to “shoot” you but you are run your mouth like you a damn target everywhere you go?

of course 50 is not a gangsta, and as far as i know he’s never proclaimed to be affiliated with any type of gang. yea he makes shoot em up bang bang music, but thats what his fanbase obviously likes…hence his sales. when he steps out the booth and into an interview room, it’s obvious that he is no longer 50 cent, and he becomes curtis jackson. to me 50’s always been a hustler…and hustlers can make their money legally and illegally. if successful, 50 can make some money off of this suit legally. they did use his likeness, therefore i believe they will try to settle out of court for an “undisclosed” amount.

If you knew how to write eloquently without trying too hard to look right and keep messing up, you would know that “to shoot” is the object of the sentence and just because you needed to quote “shoot” doesn’t mean you need to use commas.
It’d be different if you wrote headlines that didn’t show that you are trying so hard to write eloquently. I will keep these coming until it changes.
