What Do You Think Of Kanye West’s Lyrics On “Can’t Tell Me Nothing”

la laaa la wait till i get my money right
I had a dream I can buy my way to heaven
When I awoke, I spent that on a necklace.
I told God I’d be back in a second,
Man It’s so hard not to act reckless.
To whom much is given, much is tested
Get arrested, guess until he get the message.
I feel the pressure, under more scrutiny,
And What I do? Act more stupidly.
Bought More Jewelery, More Louis V,
My momma couldn’t get through to me.
The drama, people suing me,
I’m on T.V. talking like it’s just you and me.
I’m just saying how I feel man,
I ain’t one of the cosbys i aint go to Hillman
I guess the money should’ve changed him,
I guess I should’ve forgot where I came From.

Let up the suicide doors.
This is my life homey, you decide yours.
I know Jesus died for us,
But I couldn’t tell you who decide wars.
So I parallel double parked that mother f***er sideways
Old folks talking bout back in my day
But homey this is my day.
Class started 2 hours ago, oh am I late?
You know I already graduated
And you can live through anything if Magic made it.
They say I talk with so much emphasis,
OOOO They so Sen-Sa-Tive.
Don’t ever fix your lips like collagen
Say something you gon end up apologizing.
Let me know if it’s a problem man,
iight man, holla then.

Let the champagne splash, let that man get cash,
Let that man get pass.
You don’t needa stop to get gas,
If he can move through the rumors, he can drive off of fumes cause
How you move in a room full of no’s?
How you stay faithful in a room full of h**s?
Must be the pharoahs, he in tune with his soul,
So when he buried in a tomb full of gold.
Treasure. What’s you pleasure?
Life is a, uh, depending how you dress her.
So if the devil wear Prada,
Adam Eve wear Nada,
I’m in between, but way more fresher.
But way less effort, cause when you try hard,
That’s when you die hard.
Ya homies looking like “Why God?”
When they reminisce over you, my god.

Let me know what you guy think of this song. Is he spitting deep lyrics or just throwing out random rhymes? I’m feeling the song, but I feel some people get carried away with the praise and compare him to top MC’s too easily.

Realtalkny what do you think about the lyrics? Its kind weird you would just post these lyrics out the blue and be like is he spitting deep????

The lyrics aint no quotables, Kanye is nice but he aint KRS, Hov, Nas, AZ, Rakim, etc.

And that one line, he said apologin, instead of apologizing. Nigga made his own word up and shit.

“Don’t ever fix your lips like collagen
Say something you gon end up apologin”

  5. T Baby Says:

“Life is a, uh, depending how you dress her.

  6. Tramel Says:

I actually believe that it is a little bit of both as well, but overall I still dig it. We all know that he can spit; further, as this being the first single for the album I could only anticipate how hot this album may potentially be.

  16. HipHopHead Says:

Lets stop saying RealTalkNY hates Kanye becuz the only rapper he hates is 50 Cent. Real Talk

  17. Yuu serious?! Says:

when kanyeraps he ussually raps of random things or just something specific..

but in this one the first time i heard it i thought that he was deeply admittin the wrong in him and how moneychanged.

he throws in random words here & there but he only does that to fit in the verse when there isn’t nothing else he could finish the rhyme with..nas does the same too.

  18. OLA Says:

“Life is a, uh, depending how you dress her.
So if the devil wear Prada,
    Adam Eve wear Nada,
I’m in between, but way more fresher.”

    SICK LINE

and: So I parallel double parked that mother f***er sideways

jus luv dat line 2, i dunno id say its a lil bit of both BUT kanye isnt the best rapper but he spits his all into every line of all his songs so i give him the utmost respect 4 dat. i think dude is a genius w/ his music

  19. ATI Says:

Nah, I’m a fan of Kanye, but the song isn’t deep, its mostly random bars that he did a nice job of fitting into a general concept- but it’s not meant to be deep, it’s a first single, and a good one at that, Kanye is a fresh sound in an otherwise shitty mainstream, and for the most part, deserves a lot of the accolades and attention he gets. With that said, he’s clearly not an elite lyricist or anything, but dude knows how to craft great albums.

  20. Yoda Says:

    co-sign #16 lol.

The song ain’t deep at all, there’s just a bunch of random rhymes in my opinion-cut and paste type shit. The song has no real continuity.

  21. killaman Says:

nas is wack! he aint real but i like kanye and this record some real shit commin frm his heart and thats what ive been waiting for frm kanye cause on most of his albums you dont really hear anything about him but good record im outta here

  22. Glock Says:

KILLAMAN WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH NAS. ARE YOU SUCH A HOMOTHUG TO THE EXTENT THAT YOU CANT PASS A DAY WITHOUT LETTING NAS NAME OUT YA MOUTH?? THIS POST IS ABOUT KANYE, NOT NAS. WHY BRING HIS NAME UP?? GET OFF THE NIGGA DICK OL HAMSTER ASS NIGGA, U ALWAYS GOT SOMEBODY BALLS IN YOUR MOUTH.

KILLAMAN?? NEGRO PLEASE, U WOULNDT BUST A GRAPE. SENSITIVE THUGS, YALL ALL NEED HUGS. WHEN DID IT BECOME ACCEPTABLE TO BE A FAGGOT NAMED KILLMAN?

  23. EmM HoLLa Says:

He spit on this track.. It’ll take some people years to really get the jist of what he is sayin.. But he definately let it go on this track..

  24. ree Says:

    GO REAL TALK!

  25. HkiD Says:

dat shit is far from deep comparing to 2pac’s lyrics

  26. malcolm Says:

you all cannot deny this mans talent . He is one of the greatest producers out there . He can dress like noone else can everyone copies his style . You call him the Louis v don for a reason . He is hot no questions about it . Kanye will have a long career and people will stay jocking on him for ever .

  27. listen Says:

  28. grovboy17 Says:

First off…Kanye is a producer, then a artist. I mean, da nigga can spit.
Even Jay-z said it on da state property mixtape dat Kanye raps better than most rappers.
And yes, lyrically you can put dat nigga wit da best of them if you actually listen to homie spit. he creative man….he made a track using his hometown metaphorically as reference to a woman, and was dope…long story short, homie’s a beast.

  29. BashBizzle Says:

“So if the devil wear Prada,
    Adam Eve wear Nada,
I’m in between, but way more fresher”,

    lool!

  30. king Says:

  32. blanco montana Says:

listenin to the song right now kanye even though i hate to admit hes nasty n i dont mean nas lol i hate his attitude but u cant deny the music 2 albums both great gradution prolly gonna b fire ill bootleg it lol

  33. money in the bank Says:

These lyrics are deep. He is just describing why he is how he is. This is simply Kanye West. He is better than most rappers. I would say it is too soon to say he is one of the greats, but he is one of the best right now. He is creative plus he is unique. None of the guys that are considered the best r the same. To me there is no best because the people that i feel r the best like nas, jay, pac, krs,and big, all have different styles and flows. Just let Kanye be MR. LOUIS and do his thing.

  34. Lovely Says:

    This verse is ill.
I hate “the top 5″ lyricist thing.
He is a good lyricist, no doubt about it.

  35. sdot Says:

    DEEPER THEN AN OCEAN

  36. MarkWilly Says:

When Kanye first came out he said something like he wanted each line in his songs to have the same impact that a Poet has in their poets and so far hes been doing that style pretty well. Its just very hard to compare him with another artist because hes so different. Like Kanye isnt in my top 5 rappers list but hes my favorite artist.

  37. yeahmutherfuckerisaiditandwhat Says:

    This topic is random

The song is not deep it’s definitely hyped a bit, but it’s still a good track. Hes not the most lyrical dude on the scene but he is creative and entertaining so I’ll give him that. But he does need 2 stop making up words.

“Don’t ever fix your lips up like collagen/say something you gone end up apologin”

“Got strip clubs playing gospital/flow so sick in the hospital” – Impossible

    Still coppin’ Graduation though.

  38. Mr. Reed Says:

Being one who cares deeply about critical analysis of prose, poems, and lyrics I think it makes sense too take the same aproach to this song. Kanye has been in the “mass public psyche” as a significant figure since the introduction of his first album. Songs such as “Jesus Walks” and “Through the Wire” specifically give continuity to his conflicts of spirituality and worldly pursuits. It maybe viewed as a gimmick to sell records to both ends of that spectrum, but I note that Kanye’s concerns reflect the condition of todays young prefessional. Regardless of if the young professional is on the corner, in the pulpit, in the office, in the classroom, or on the stage who is saying to himself/herself “wait until I get my money right”; Kanye’s dualism is very human. What becomes of us when we do find success and what is the motivation towards further success without compromising our personal beliefs. This is a factor that may be what makes him so attractive to mass audiences. Analyzing the first four bars:

“I had a dream I can buy my way to heaven,
When I awoke, I spent that on a necklace,
I told God I’d be back in a second,
Man It’s so hard not to act reckless.”

Taking note of style it can be noted that Kanye in this song seems to aproach a technique of freeform, stream of conciousness poetry. His lyrics have an effect of an interior monologue giving us incite into his personal issues of conflict of spirituality (personal beliefs) as is governed by the religious mores of when we have become patron to one of the “Big Three”. The dream Kanye has may be derived from his Catholic faith, which at one time took indulgences of it patrons as a means to rectify sin and wrongdoing with payments to the church. Therefore, if one cannot pay they are frankly: F4$ked. We live in a society that has not really changed from the days of indulgences. In the case of the artist. The expectation is for him to follow the script which is Kanye’s argument.

“To whom much is given, much is tested
Get arrested, guess until he get the message.
I feel the pressure, under more scrutiny,
And What I do? Act more stupidly.”

What is given? Whatis given is fame, and what is the expectation of fame and adoration? A reciprocation of that which is given and when an artist does not reciprocate the fame and adoration given to him/her, they are scrutinized, judged, outcast, not made infamous but they become defamed, and demoted in their stature. From whom and where does this fame and this adoration come from? It must be broken into two different locations. Adoration is born of the people, the people may adore but the Corporate Support makes you famous and can serve and most often does serve as a means of creating adoration. Kanye says that he “Bought More Jewelery, More Louis V/ My momma couldn’t get through to me./” The product placement and purchasing of those items have brought him fame and are utilized as an element of his trademark i.e. The pseudonym of “Kon the Louis Vuitton DON” is an example. Kanye the became the brand which he utilized to gain his fame. Therefore he can be policed by this corporate element. The corporate element’s expectation is that he’ll succomb to their demands because they have participated in his fame making process. This is similiar to the father/mother who shows up to cash in father check when he/she has found out his son/daughter has become famous; even though he/she may have participated very little in their upbringing. In an age of contracts for cellphones, car, alcoholic beverages, and every other thing you can thinks being utilized for the marketing dollars of albums that the music industry seems to be less interested marketing overall because of slumping records sales artist are being pimped to “get dat money” The adoration of his mother is not more signifigant then the responsibility he has to his “fame maker” the corporate sponsor. Afterall he did say his mother was the Louis Voutton MOM, in other making it clear that not even invaluable are free from exploitation by the corporate structure. Look at Afeni Shakur and hip-hop tributes to mothers as commercials means to get on and get another hit.

    “The drama, people suing me,
I’m on T.V. talking like it’s just you and me.
I’m just saying how I feel man,
I ain’t one of the cosbys i aint go to Hillman
I guess the money should’ve changed him,
    I guess I should’ve forgot where I came From.”

Kanye questions again what becomes of us when we do find success and what is the motivation towards further success without compromising our personal beliefs.

    “Let up the suicide doors.
This is my life homey, you decide yours.
I know Jesus died for us,
But I couldn’t tell you who decide wars.
So I parallel double parked that mother f***er sideways”

Here Kanye decides that he will chose to play the fence, knowing that he needs the corporate sponsors but he was to play it on his own terms and he decides to “…parallel parked that motherf***er sidesways” Individuals like Jay-Z and 50 Cent rely today on more outside sponsorships because it makes more sense for them to gain an amount of freedom from there initial corporate fame makers. To create relationships between the corporations and artist that better arranges the artist position on the negotiation table artist have been forced to seek outside for funding their prjects , particularly in the fields of marketing. Jay-Z bud commercial anyonr? Vitamin Water anyone? This explains the atraction of artists going independent and distrubution companies like Koch and Light Speed. In the case of the major record companies; they are losing ground because they are so intimately connected with each other that they lack competition to inspire better quality product. In other words all of their A&Rs are hearing the same things so they have found themselves marketing newer, but not very valuable artist. How does this reference Kanye? It is simple, the more success an artist has the more power they should have. Yet that is not really the case today. The biggest rock stars today are independent; left by the wayside by their major lables for less expensive, younger artists, who are less educated and are better open to exploitation. I do not want to seem so orwellian in my writing, but lets be honest; Hip-Hop has fallen into this trap most significantly. Where are most of our all of our veteran artist. Note that Jay-Z, Slick and BDK,and LL are only a year in age difference. R&B is having a hard also even Beyonce had to hustle her album B’day on her own. ( I’ll return tomorrow to complete my analysis)

    Reed Out

  39. raLay Says:

song sounds more like a freestyle with quotables combined together. it’s just a summarized song and doesn’t go too in depth of one topic. it bangs. ’stronger’ grew on me after listening to it. like it. too bad i’m not graduating when graduation drops.

  40. T.A.B. Says:

Them lyrics are as deep as a pepsi top.
No story line, make no sense.
He needs to keep his jaws wired.
It is sad what is becoming of the rap game.

  41. JamRock Says:

Oh Kanye is te truth, he keeps it 100% real in hiz songs and thats what i like about him. He is definitly on his way to becoming one of the greatest.

  42. S.Mc Says:

number 38 wtf r u talkin ab. that post wuz unneccesary. anywayz kanye killed it that shit iz crazzy. realtalkny what possesed yall to post this????? please tell me

  43. Mr. Reed Says:

am analyzing reason for Kanye’s song and underlying complexity 42.

  44. devond Says:

coming from chicago a city full of haterz kanye speaks for the youth who doesnt banglike bump j nor preach like lupe he is just his own person a chicagian tht guyz dont apreciate till commons comes or any body from chi kanye lupe common the most real hiphop artist that are popular in hiphop today tell me if im lying chicago the most hiphop region today but lets not forget aBOUT THE loving south muzik lol

  45. QuadakiDD Says:

Its a hot song… To keep it simple…. Kanye did his thing. And when I say “his” thing, I mean that. Kanye aint tryin to do nobody but Kanye. So, deep or not he did “his” thing. I feel that he’s relavent to hip-hop right now and in that aspect…..YOU CANT TELL ME NOTHIN!

  46. QuadakiDD Says:

^^^^^^ Oh Yeah…Chicago got hip-hop poppin right now…. Before you hate, I said Chicago got “hip-hop” poppin right now!!! Dont get it twisted. Hip-Hop.

  47. ertseyhs Says:

KANYE DOES KANYE BETTER THAN ANY OTHER RAPPER. HE LOOKS AT WATS ON THE RADIO , AND THEN DOES THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE THATS WAT TRULY MAKES HIM AN INNOVATOR/GENIUS. WHY DO U THINK ALL THE OTHER RAPPERS/PRODUCERS APPLAUD EVERYTHING HE DOES…

  48. whoa Says:

yall gotta look at the big picture. he is a producer first, a rapper second. kanye aint that nice. do u remember when he was about to come out, and jay and dame was on that dvd talkin about him? if some of yall didnt see it, jay was sayin that when he first heard kanye rap he patted him on the back and said “good job. but stick to making beats.” and they both laughed about it. im not a hater, i see that kanye is making progress with each album as a rapper and a producer, which is a good look, but its a well known fact that from a rapper standpoint he doesnt really have that rapper type of talent. he cant get on a instrumental and ride it out and make niggas say “damn that shit was ill”. he has to make a ill beat, write a dope ass hook, and make sure that the content of the song is something that everybody can relate to in order to be a good artist. now dont get me wrong, thats a good look, and thats what every artist should be trying to achieve, and thats why kanye’s cds are always so ill. a lot of artists are coming out and doing the opposite, and thats why there is so much bad music out there. but when a nigga can spit, im talkin about cassidy or lloyd banks (yes banks is still fresh as hell, wait till yall hear this new album he puttin together. i heard some of it like damn that shit is crazy), they dont necessarily put all of the effort into the song that kanye does because they have more talent rapping, and they tend to slack off. i like kanye, and his album is copped, but when i go to get the cd i know im getting a cd made by a nigga who makes good music, meaning beats, songs, and content. im not purchasing a nigga who is a dope ass rapper. this is part of the reason why realtalkny feels like its just random rhymes kanye is putting together, and i agree

  49. whoa Says:

    mr. reed = college professor

his post is long as hell, but he explains a lot. some of yall need to read it. his perspective is mad different. some of yall dumb ass niggas dont need to read it tho. dont want yall to hurt yallself lol

  50. Tonythetiger Says:

All these dudes sweatin kanye for his devil wear prada adam eve wear nada line are looking crazy suspect right now, or maybe thats just me. If you wanna analyze an MC, analyze the best, Dead Presidents, reasonable doubt, 1996, the greatest rapper alive S.Carter:

Who wanna bet us that we don’t touch lettuce,
    stack cheddars forever,
    live treacherous, all the etceteras,
to the death of us, me and my confidants
we shine, you feel the ambiance
    y’all niggas just rhyme,
by the ounce dough accumulates like snow,
we dont just shine, we illuminate the whole show,

that made him smile though his eye said “pray for me”,
I’ll do you one better and slay these niggas faithfully,

    chorus
Im out for presidents to represent me (repeat)

    verse II

    chorus

    verseIII

    so be it,

dead presidentials, politics is cha cha chow, blooow

    chorus

THAT MY FRIENDS IS A GOTTDAMN LYRICIST, THE FUCKING GREATEST OF ALL FUCKING TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  51. Art Says:

    They are clever lyrics

  52. RealTalkNY Says:

Damn, Whoa understands where this post is coming from. Never said his music isn’t great to listen to, I’m just saying when you break down the lyrics it is not something as great as people make it seem. That of course is just my opinion.

  53. Dirt Off My Shoulders Says:

Hey since we’re all throwing random opinions out… The Game sucks. Yeah you heard it. That’s just as random as this random posting of lyrics from 123lyrics.com and opening the discussion in a biased way so that it would lead ppl to hate/agree with your opinion, guess that backfired for the first 35 posts didn’t it?

We already know you love Fiddy Cent, it’s all good.

  54. GLOCK Says:

Tonythetiger GET HOVS BALLS OUT YA MOUTH YOU DICK RIDING FAGGOT. JAY Z IS ONE OF THE GREATEST, BUT HE’S NOT THE GREATES LYRICIST. FURTHURMORE, IF YOU WANTED TO STATE YOUR OPINION ON KANYE YOU WOULDN’T HAVE POSTED A FUCKING COPY OF DEAD PRESIDENTS. YOU KNOW WHY?? BECAUSE WE’VE ALL HEARD THAT SONG ALREADY AND WE ALREADY KNOW ITS ONE OF JAY Z’S BEST. NO NEED TO POST IT. ITS IRRELEVANT TO THE THREAD.

  55. GLOCK Says:

YOU COME HERE TALKING ABOUT DEAD PRESIDENTS LIKE WE AINT HEARD IT BEFORE, LIKE YOU JUST LISTENED TO IT YESTERDAY?? DID YOU JUST START LISTENING TO HIP HOP IN 2008 YOU REMIDIAL DOWN SYNDROME HAVING BANDWAGON HOPING BALL SLOBBERING DL HOMO?

I MEAN DAMN, JUST JUMP OUT THE CLOSET AND ADMIT YOUR INFATUATION WITH JAY Z. GO KISS THAT POSTER ON THE WALL OF UR DOOKIE STAINED CARPET HAVING ROOM AND SAVE US THE JAY Z LOVE LETTERS. 56. ross Says:

im in the “little bit of both” camp. he had a message he wanted to get across obviously…and when he cant think of a word that rhymes he just says something that doesnt really make much sense.

kanye is not a great lyricist. but thats ok. hes a mediocre rapper who makes great beats. why cant we just be ok with that?

  57. Flippin-saint Says:

Its some of his best verses but its not a classic song

  58. 2cents Says:

He’s not compared to top mc’s too easily i believe. He really believes in what he spits and you can feel his conviction. He has decent content, which is pretty different than what you hear from the average rapper, to go along with his delivery as well as the beats which all three make him one of the top mc’s.

and how he may be gettin this credit too soon… I can’t see that seein big only had one album released when he died and he was by popular thought or so it seemed the best of his time/ever. So why folks would say its too early to comment on Kanye’s status at this time goin into his 3rd album is funny. People need to be more consistant with what they use as measuring sticks.

  59. Vincent Says:

Kanye gets compared as a top MC because of the fact that he doesn’t talk about the same old stuff everyone talks about. Ya he goes into flashy topics like the others, but at least he uses rhymes that are more unique than people out there. He’s a talented guy producing and rapping the way he does doesn’t come easy. Lyrics on this song were interesting because hes revealing himself to how he is in the public and the way they view him. I think everyone can agree he revived common when BE dropped

  60. we stone Says:

there wont be another kanye. he has his own style.

wait til i get my money right
then you cant tell me nothing riiight?

  61. gro Says:

i know him and his crew personaly. i am certain he doesn’t write all of his own rhymes. he keeps people like consequence, rhymefest, and really doe by his side. all of them nice but unable to garner the spotlight. pay attention when you hear songs that sound like consequence flow/style. don’t get me wrong Ye has gotten better but don’t crown his ass yet or at all for that matter. also don’t sleep on why he carries Mr. Bently around with him. this may sound crazy but he can write a dope 16(bently). all of those money under the table writers could easily fool u into believing things are what they seem. all this to say even if they write ‘em he still has to spit ‘em so thats where the skill comes in.

  62. gro Says:

i agree with # 53 i challenge The Game to write ONE. just one rap without referencing any rappers. no ” i’m the blah, blah, blah N.W.A” or “dr, dre this..” u get the picture

  63. smooth b Says:

  71. Prolifical Says:

absolute legend lyrics if u look into wot hes sayin, never rele rated knaye but lately hes definately changed my mind, definate talent there

  72. Prolifical Says:

absolute legend lyrics if u look into wot hes sayin, never rele rated kanye but lately hes definately changed my mind, definate talent there

  73. TommyTee Says:

RealtalkNY why not put up other rappers lyrics? Why just Kanye? Either you are subliminaly recognizing his status by wanting comments on his lyrics or ur just trying to hate on him. Put up some T.I. lyrics or Three-6-Mafia lyrics or 50 Cent lyrics. Itz like critiquing Jordan’s game for no reason.

Ummm the reason why Kanye is a great (one of the greatest MCs) is not cause you randomly choose a song you think is not great and put the lyrics up to show people why, but the reason he is, is because of “SPACESHIP”, “THROUGH THE WIRE”, “HEARD EM SAY”, “TOUCH THE SKY”, “ROSES”, “JESUS WALKS”, “HEY MAMA”, “ALL FALLS DOWN” . . . put up those lyrics too if you are gonna make claim he is not good knowing those and other songs are classics. Has not Nas or Jay-Z made a sub-par lyrical song in your opinion?

REALTALKNY are you a journalist with an unbiased opinion or is this basically a site for you to voice ur opinion on artists but trying to front like an unbiased website? I mean doesn’t matter to me, but i think you should let people know so they don’t expect you to be unbiased or just for clarification. Not trying to attack you, but it just seems like you get a kik out of attacking certain artists meanwhile u praise other artists (i mean seriously you were on Lil Ma’s jock and i would like to see u put up her lyrics about her lip gloss is poppin’? And i like her, but if ur gonna be fair put up other artist’s lyrics).

“i don’t mind you talking shit just keep it in the first person / think realistically if you diss me can you handle my rebuttle version / then again if you speak of me that means u recognize my status / take ur diss and flip ur diss and use it as a promotional apparatus” – El-P

  74. EASHIA Says:

tommy tee i agree with u all those songs u named were phenomenal

  75. EASHIA Says:

tommy tee i agree with u all those songs u named were phenomenal thats why he will be considered one of the greatest rappers of all time

  76. QuadakiDD Says:

“I GOT THE INTERNET GOIN NUTS!!!” -Paul Wall….lol Damn RealTalkNy some of these dudes is salty as hell, you sure know how to start a convo…..ha ha!!!! Big up!!

  77. fgasfga Says:

KANYE’S ALBUM IS THE MOST ANTICIPATED OF THE YEAR. NOT JUST IN HIP-HOP, BUT IN ALL GENRES, HE’S THE FIRST PRODUCER/RAPPER TO GET ANY ACCLAIM CLOSE TO THIS. HE IS COMPARED TO THE BEST MC’S, AND THE BEST PRODUCERS, THAT’S WHY THERE IS NOTHING ELSE CLOSE TO KANYE OUT IN MUSIC RIGHT NOW YA DIG!!!

  78. J.P. Says:

kanye west jus be puttin words together which makes no sense

  79. yea Says:

Kanye haters are usually insecure, dumb niccas. Most real niccas can respect good music.

  80. dondada Says:

Mr. Reed is droppin some serious knowledge…..I dont rap but mr. reed would u like to be my manager,u only gettin 14% thou, lol

  81. jayzswife1 Says:

its deep u jus got to listen roc 4 life

  82. marquis Says:

  83. listen Says:

People need to stop and realise money is not the be all and end all of everything, these rappers need to find a new subject to rant on about, and yes we do all know that you are very rich. Can’t tell you nothing because you have got money, how about this – grow up….

  84. C.A.S.H. Says:

I’m trying to distinguish great and top lyricist and great and top emcee. I think Kanye is one of the top Emcee’s doin it right now, (I also put T.I. up there, whomever you like, it is your opinion), but lyrically, i’m not sure if he is on Nas’s level. But when i thought about it, he might be, and his way of spittin lyrics may be just as great as Nas. Similar to when in school, you may pick to read the poem that is the shortest and “easiest” to read, but in reality, even in those several lines, it’s saying more than a entire page of poetry from another artist. So maybe, maybe Kanye is lyricist.

  85. yellowman black Says:

kanye is as nice as big byrd from seaseme street.

  86. haters Says:

IF U THINK KANYE IS WACK, AND THINK T.I., JEEZY, LIL WAYNE ETC ARE NICE, PLEASE SHOOT YASELF NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  87. whoa Says:

#67 get a fuckin life dude. i stated my opinion and the bitch was valid. here u come talkin about i said kanye not a real rapper and lloyd banks is a real spitter. yeah thats what i said. if u dont agree keep it movin muthafucka. kanye is not a real rapper. when jay and dame signed him they signed him to make beats, not rap. rappin is just a hobby for kanye. he could make beats and not rap on another song for the rest of his career and everybody in the industry would be cool with that, thats why he not a real rapper. if u think he can rap, thats fine. but if u do your research u will see that kanye has been makin beats for like 20 years, and rappin fa like 8. dude just started rappin. like i said, he’s a producer first and a rapper second. he’s still learning how to put his rhymes down how he wants to. he perfected makin beats, and then afterwards he wanted to learn how to flow. and lloyd banks is a real spitter. his flow and his punchlines are what he does. its a lotta muthafuckas on dis site that will tell u he is one of the illest rhyme spitters in the game. the way he puts his shit together and his delivery is similar (not the same) to eminem or twista (on some songs), and these are prime examples of real spitters. and i see u didnt even mention cassidy. cassidy and lloyd banks can really spit rhymes. if u dont agree, u need to go listen to another genre of music. cuz u dont know shit about skills from a rhymin standpoint. get the fuck outta here talkin shit like i dont know what the fuck im talkin about. and change yo name. u aint Real Talk, u a Real Bitch

  88. whoa Says:

and lmao @ dookie stained carpet

  89. whoa Says:

  90. YoungNasty Says:

… Yo i honestly think Kanye song ” Cant tell me nothing ”

  91. dumb Says:

  92. YO Says:

  95. FlipStar Says:

‘Ye. the beat is fire. the lyrics is on point. kanye be on sum otha ish. he is in the top 20 dats good lyrically (jigga, nas, em, luda, jada, etc…)

and those JEEZY ad-libs were a perfect addition…he should be on the OFFICIAL remix and spit some crakk too

  96. yep Says:

kanye is ready wit this graduation, hip hop fans been waitin for this, not abay bay.

  97. T-Arson Says:

Compared to todays hip-hop or bubble gum rap……THIS IS A CLASSIC song! By incorporating Jeezy in there just made it colder (Chi-town lingo) anyway, the song is DEEP it deals with religion, sacrifice, fashion, lust, and talks about dough, anyway its a hot song. Nowhere near an all-time favorite, but definitely a summer banger.

    Aight then, holla then.

  98. Tonythetiger Says:

#13 and #22(glock), why you so maaaaad, everytime I read ur comments on this site you always calling someone else a fag, it takes one to know one, huh. All this dookie shit you talkin about all over the carpet, ?????, you need to stop acting like you straight and let it go. Kanye is the shit but when compared to real lyrics like that of early jay (talk less of the other early 90s greats) the whole realtalk post doesn’t make sense, kan does his thing but can he be considered deep by those standards. I know you like that adam and eve prada shit homo ass thug, so go finish watching you boyfriend scrape off the shit YOU left on your CAAARRRPET after your date last night.

Calling urself GLOCK don’t make you straight homeboy, and relax on the capslock button, I know you maaaaaaaaad lol.

Oh and stop dickriding you got more posts on this one page than anyone else

  99. crickest Says:

Who is Mr Reed? Thats amazing! Do you have a blog of your own or something? Can someone get a hold of this guy!.. i want to read the rest of it.. and more to it.. what else has he written lately?

  100. gmoney Says:

He’s going at Beanie Sieg on the low on this track.Listen carefully.

  101. RealTalkNY Says:

First you assume I’m not going to put up anybody else’s lyrics when I was actually getting ready to put up another verse this week. Even if I wasn’t, it doesn’t matter. Just because I point out some lyrics from one rapper doesn’t mean I have to do it for everybody. The fact that it’s my site entitles me to do whatever I want to put in bluntly.

How can the post be taken as hate when I just asked a simple question? I wasn’t biased in any way. I just wanted a simple discussion on the comlpexity of the lyrics. Some people disagree with me and some agreed, that is what a discussion is about. Why would I post up lyrics of all those Kanye songs, I’m not talking about them and I’m not talking about his career. Then you say,”put up those lyrics too if you are gonna make claim he is not good,” WHERE DID I SAY HE IS NOT GOOD? I actually say I’m feeling the song, did you even read the post?

“REALTALKNY are you a journalist with an unbiased opinion or is this basically a site for you to voice ur opinion on artists but trying to front like an unbiased website? ” Please show me where I’m biased, quote me so you can back up your claims. How was I on Lil Mama jock? The only thing I said was, “I like the fact she cares about the community and doesn’t have a big head about her success.” Did I say anything about lyrics?

It just seems like some of you guys think your favorite artist are perfect or something. If I dare mention there name and I’m not praising them I’m hating on them.

  102. Miss. Official Says:

This track right here is hot to death…I loved it ever since the first time I heard it…I have a feeling the graduation is going to be a force to be reckoned with.

  103. Dr. Ropeswing Says:

so, after spending 10 minutes or so reading these ridiculous posts…. i figured i’d contribute to the garbage…. kanye has a good flow on him…. some people liked “life is a, uh, depending how you dress her….”…. which are prolly the best lyrics in the song…. but they arent that good…the only song ive heard that lyrically impressed me from kanye is the one where he personifies chicago and makes it into a girl….. but most people wouldnt understand it….especially if they think this track is deep… if you think this ones deep… then the one about chi city is the f**kin grand canyon or something bottom line… kanyes a producer…. not a rapper….. hell… most mainstream rap is garbage…. you gotta look to the underground if you wanna find primo rappers…. money makes it easy to forget that rap stands for Rythm And Poetry…… not many people are making rythm and poetry anymore…. what happened to grand master flash?…. and songs like “the message”

  104. madmadman01 Says:

one of his best tracks. His first three albums kick ass!

as for the author’s question – ALL RAP IS FUCKING RANDOM LYRICS DUDE, unless the track is telling a specific story. Write out any Jay-Z song – is it deep or is he just spitting random lyrics?
