imo, if 50 wasnt popped 9 times, im sure he still woulda blown, cause em, dre and jimmy woulda came up with another gimmick or marketing ploy. he had the team, the charisma and the i dont give a fuck attitude that was contagious to the mainstream people who buy music. plus 50 was makin a lotta noise on the streets before he got shot. he was signed because his music was hot and his name buzzed and not because he survived multiple gunshot wounds. in other words, he got the spot on em’s team because of his product, not his story. step ya research game up, or dont speak on what you dont know. 50 was signed to a major label, to columbia records, BEFORE he got shot…but with the controversy surrounding his name thereafter he was dropped. so you ask why he didnt blow till he got shot? his name was blacklisted. no one wanted to sign him. thought he was a trouble maker. em didnt give a fuck about the blacklist on 50s name, and still scooped him up, even said on a radio interview in ‘02 that 50 was his favorite rapper.

that said, i dont think 50 is as good as he used to be…but he is far from garbage. he still has the ability to write great songs for the type of music he makes. he aint the best but he damn sure aint the worst.

anyway, just thought i would enlighten those who dont know.

@ Let’s Be Real, I used to be a big 50 fan just like everyone else, I dont rock with son that much but you still have to respect him as a businessman. To say his first album went diamond because he got shot 9 times is ludicrous. You can’t be from the tri state. Son didn’t even have an album out and he was goin on tour performing his raps over other nyggas beats. 50 don’t have anything to do with the violence in hip hop right now. Maybe when he first came out, he had nyggas rocking vest like white tees but that’s was back then. He has no swag. You have to be somehting that the youth want to be like, and that’s what the Dips are and so is Lil Wayne.
