Looking For Ideas For The Next Phase Of RealTalkNY

I will probably be redesigning the whole site by the end of the summer. I want to add some more sections and add some more people to write articles. I want to of course have the blog as the main feature of the site. I’m not sure if people like the complicated front pages that a lot of sites have, but I may just add one for navigation purposes. So let me know what features you find really important or think would be a great addition. Point out some of your favorite sites and say what is it you like about the design. Not many sites even care to ask the viewers before making changes, but I making sure I hear some feedback before I do anything.

If you now any sites with nice design post them and explain why you like them.

I think you should try to expand to different regions, like RealTalkATL or RealTalkLA. That way you can cater more to specific regions and areas. Alot of stuff that pops off in Atlanta happen months before it goes mainstream, this way you can be ahead of the curve for many things. Also you can start a section where you have “Radio Personality of the Week” and you interview different radio personalities. This way you can build a working relationship with different radio stations and get more exclusive events and what not. I got more ideas, but I don’t wanna jus put them out there like that, so if you interested, just hit me up.

the NY Times is not only about New York. The NY is there because that’s where I’m based, but I talk about things everywhere.

Whatever you do, don’t be afraid to shell out the extra cash to have your shit looking proper & professional. Because when you’re trying to get interviews with bigger name artists, it’ll be hard for them to look at you as a big dog when your shit looking slopping and small time. Hated this layout since Day 1.

It’s one thing to go around snapping pictures but to actually track down publicists & the like and convince them (mind you, they looking at the site while yall talking) why their “client” should do an interview for your site is something different. And then to actually schedule the interview and have em stick to it..anyway I digress.

Point is, spend the dough. It’ll be worth it.

And please get writers who know hip hop. Not mainstream rap but REAL hip hop.

I hear what your saying. The main thing is figuring out how to organize everything. I don’t like how site shave their front page to cluttered to find anything.

dont make it too blinged out. This site is simple and up to date with the news, which is why I enjoy going to this site more than allhiphop for an example. You have the photos and the videos on the front page which is easy to navigate. how bout give us more discount on kixclusive eh? HAH. Been ordering from them a lot! legit.

I dont necessarily think you have to clutter everything. You can have tabs (like you do now) and have the front page looking like it is now. I’m guessing catergorizing every post to fit that specific tab would be great though. Say you post news on the front page…categorize it as “news” so it’ll be under the “news” tab (if you do choose to add one). Say you post pictures from events on the front page, categorize it as “pics” (or whatever name you choose) This way, it’ll still have a blog appeal about it. And people can click on the specific tabs to check out pics, news, fashion, editorals and what not.

You could split the site into segements such as a frontpage with news- than a new videos/audio section, fashion, movies?/ entertainment etc etc. Plus the blog, and possibly blogs of up and comers like on hiphopgame.

Dont call it RealTalkNY call it RealTalk.com or RealTalkHipHop.

It’s stupid calling it NY when your going to post news on West, Midwest and South.

Damn everyone is switching up the layouts, Allhiphop, Concreteloop to name a few. Personally I think the Allhiphop layout is too complicated, its just too much going on on one page. But I love the new concreteloop layout, I like how they allow you to have avatars. I also like how they have lil bios bout the creator and contributers to the site, no homo RTNY but you like a mystery dude to us, we visit this site religiously yet we dont know nothin bout you or yall? lol. Wuteva u do keep it fresh and just do you.
