Why Is BET Making A Fake Laguna Beach & Coming Out With These Lame Shows?
Baldwin Hills Synopsis:
Baldwin Hills, also known as the Black Beverly Hills, is an upscale Black neighborhood in Los Angeles, where pro athletes, TV and movie stars, entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers and engineers live. This reality show will focus on kids who split their time between school, the beach, pool parties, high-end shopping, and driving their daddy’s luxury cars. Some of them are smart and hard-working, while some of them are spoiled and overly entitled.The series will follow these 11 kids as they navigate the mudslides that are their social lives and handle typical teenage issues with their parents, siblings and classmates. Events, such as prom night, spring break, parental conflicts and college visits, serve as signposts for the real-life drama. Many of these kids attend private high schools where they are but of a small handful of Black faces on the campus. They seemingly steer this terrain with ease but, ultimately, know that they are outsiders … not only in their schools, but among their “own” in the hood. “Baldwin Hills” will be sexy, cool and unlike any other show about Black kids ever seen on television.
SMH, who wants to watch a bunch of rich kids act a fool? They call it a reality show but there isn’t anything real about it. I’ve had enough of kids complaining about what car their parents bought them, sorry if your dad got you last year’s Benz instead of this year’s. BET was promoting their new shows hard at the BET awards and they all look like trash. Some fake dating show, what the hell? Lets not forget the sophisticated, “Hot Ghetto Mess,” show coming soon. BET is only good for reruns of some comedies and music videos.

I think it’s actually okay for this show to come out because all we ever see about young African-Americans on reality shows are ghetto, shitting on floors, fighting all the time, minsteral (flavor flav), people who can’t seem to not make us look like fools…..yes it’s about prissy black boys and girls, BUT IT”S DIFFERENT!!!it’s showing some black kids growing up don’t all grow up in the ghetto and it also shows black L.A isn’t just gangs and poor people!!

MTV has real world, BET has College Hill
MTV has Laguna Beach, and now BET has this.

the problem w/ that is the BET version of the MTV shows are always wack…its always a lower budget production and w/ blk ppl on it LOL. if it wasnt 4 dat “big fight” on college hill that season wouldve been a bust like the previous ones. id honestly watch trl before id watch 106 (ill take damien and vanessa manillo over terrence and rocsi anyday). laguna beach/the hills are 2 HUGE SHOWS on MTV and this BET version will be wack, prolly have fake fights, lesser quality then its MTV counterpart and just be more or less boring
MTV knows how 2 create random shows that are atleast interesting and fun to watch…(rob n big, real world/road rules challenges, laguna beach/the hills, scarred, NEXT, etc etc)

Its not BET. its Viacom.
Viacom owns both BET and MTV.
So i guess they are just porting over shows from each network.
BET is already my least favorite channel on television at the moment, after they introduce all this meaningless programming I will be even more turned off.

They want MTV money, and they want to pull in that audience so that why they copy them. They also copying Sweet 16, cuz I was at this rich girl b-day party and they had Bet camera men every where and following the b-day girl, at the end they told they were gonna air it on BET, SMH before they break the mold and be different they copy.

Baldwin hills is good for young black America, they can see another lifestyle that black people live, we all see how ghetto is the trend and there is nothing good about acting ghetto, plus the kids are positive, so why not throw some suburban kids in the mix so everyone feels like theres something to connect to? Its such ashame. To #31 .. First and foremost understand that every black person in America isnt from the HOOD. Please get that out of your head. What exactly is white acting? What I speak proper English? I went to a good school? What is it?? Have you ever thought that there are black people in America who worked hard for their kids to have things? Viacom controls distribution of the shows as in putting them on aire but does not actually make up the deciding of which shows get to air. If they did then there’d be no point in the founders of BET or MTV even being the head of those networks because Viacom’s overseers would come up with shows and things such as that. Even if Viacom did come up with the shows that’d be impossible for tehm to keep watch over Comedy Central, Logo, BET, Spike, TV Land, Nick at Nite, Nickelodeon, Noggin, The N, Nick Jr., TEENick, MTV, VH1, MTV2, CMT, MHD and all the other networks they own. Viacom deals with putting things on aire and get their cut of the money basically, and making sure Youtube doesn’t rip them off. So overall its BET that’s still ripping off MTV NOT Viacom. Viacom just doesn’t care because all that matters it BET keeping the ratings up so they can get money.
