I understand why he may be salty, but in all actuality, promotion for albums is not what it used to be all across the board. The record companies is trying to come up with a new formula to make it happen in this world of ipods, blogs, piracy and shit like that. It’s pretty hard to get a young artist poppin these days let alone an older established artist who has long not been considered young and hip anymore. For LL to put his shit on wax, and with 50 on a record, is not cool at all. You expect a man with the longetivity that he has had to honestly keep it moving and do the other projects in the entertainment industry that only a select few has been blessed to do on a consistent basis (make movies, books, speaking engagements, etc). As far as music goes, by all means L, do your concerts and stuff but don’t think that YOU could go platinum at this time with new albums. Especially not with that J-Lo shit you came out with. No disrepect L, but honestly it was bad judgment to drop those versus. Not a good look at all.

@ #30 Jay-Z had the same deal with Def Jam that Mike J had with the Wizards. We give you a super big position of power at our company since you are a icon and world reknown but you have to come out with a album to keep the buzz for the company. Same w/ Mike J and his comeback to the wizards.
Only thing is Jay-Z is better right now in rap than Mike J was in basketball. And he already had Rocawear, Rocafella and other shit to fall back on so he could avoid getting dicked like Jordan.
As far as the marketing and advertising, those dollars came from major corporations who recognize that Jay-Z still has a buzz in the funeral home that we call the hip hop world. Superbowl commercials w/ Don Shula, Budweiser or whoever using “show me what you got” as their song for the commercial, sportscenter ect…

Ladies Love Cool James! He may indeed be taking shots but i think that its cool to see LL back on that gutter type ish for right now. Honestly, I think that LL could battle just about anybody in the game seriously if it came down to it. For example, when Canibus came out he went strong at LL and 2nd round ko is still to this day one of the best diss records ever and Canibus is one of the best emcees no question BUT LL had the necessary experience and knew the tricks of the trade in order to get over and eventually win that battle. Alot of people in here are just popping off and dont really know, quick to doubt someone and then all of a sudden when he does good its like hes your man again. LL still got it lyrically!
