With Curtis Out The Way, Which Rap Album Will Take Over This Summer?

It seems like this was suppose to be 50 Cent’s summer to take over. Just as Spiderman 3 was a guaranteed blockbuster, 50 Cent’s new album was expected to take over the charts. Everywhere you looked you saw advertisements for the new Spiderman 3 movie, probably the most hyped movie of the year. 50 Cent’s media blitz was in full swing, he took over Rap City for a week, appeared on TRL & 106 & Park, released two new videos and had a performance on the BET awards planned. Unfortunately 50 Cent was in for an abrupt change of plans.
Unlike Spiderman 3, 50 Cent faltered on his release date. The given reason was to match his U.S. release with international one. But everyone knows the truth, the 50 Cent team got worried. The first two singles, “Amusement Park,” & “Straight To The Bank,” didn’t have the same appeal as previous singles. There was no, “In Da Club,” or, “Candy Shop,” buzz for these singles. Not taking any chances, the album was pushed back months and it was time to go back to the studio and rethink things. 50 Cent probably has more pressure on him than any other rapper, people are just waiting for the chance to say he flopped so they can say G-unit is over. It seems every rapper is now getting more pretentious about album sales and release dates.
With the much hyped 50 Cent album out the picture, the next major release in line to own the summer is T.I.’s, “T.I. vs. T.I.P. (July 3rd).” T.I.’s management must of been ecstatic to hear the news, there were rumors of them pushing back T.I.’s album before 50 Cent’s release date got knocked back a few months. “Big Things Poppin,” is doing good right now getting airplay on the radio and television. Guest on the album include, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Nelly, Wyclef & Eminem. There is little doubt that T.I.’s 5th album will move units, but will it sell as much as, “King”?
Other rappers with albums this summer include, Fabolous(From Nothin To Somethin-June 12th), DJ Khaled(We The Best-June 12th), Pharoahe Monch(Desire-June 26th), Common(Finding Forever-July 10th), Mike Jones (The American Dream-July 10th), UGK (Underground Kingz-July 17th), Talib Kweli (Eardrum-July 24th), Young Joc(Hustlenomics-July 31st) & Swizz Beatz(One Man Band Man-August 23rd)
I feel Fabolous’ new album, “From Nothin to Somethin,” is his best to date, making a video for, “Brooklyn,” would be good look. People will complain the album has too many guest, but what really matters if the songs are hot or not. I don’t know what to expect for DJ Khaled’s, “We The Best,” but I hope I don’t hear the same rappers on every track. “We Takin Over,” is a hot track, “Brown Paper Bag,” I wasn’t really feeling. From what I have heard of Common’s, “Finding Forever,” I will most likely be copping that disc. Swizz Beatz album sounds like it will be keeping clubs jumping, I want to see how the, “Money in the Bank,” video comes out. UGK just dropped their video and as for the other rappers, they need to drop a hot single ASAP.
What rap albums are you looking forward to this summer?

Kanye west will own the summer and his albume will be album of the year
June 7th, 2007 at 10:14 am
the cool – that is if it drops – and quite possibly kanye’s junior effort.
June 7th, 2007 at 10:20 am
i hope fabolous’ album sells units. going at least gold would be good but for someone as talented as fabolous platinum should be the target. no-one is selling nowadays so im worried fab wont sell. his album is hot and the singles, bar diamonds, are all sick tracks. make me better is one for the ladies and fellas and brooklyn is one for the streets. his track with junior reid also needs airplay- that track is one of the best on the album imo.

June 7th, 2007 at 7:17 pm
kanye aint droppin dis summer so i guess ti unless lupe or someone like weezy randomly push they albums way up which i doubt will happen as far as 50 cent i hope his album is way better then these singles he’s benn putting out lately
June 7th, 2007 at 8:26 pm
As I have mentioned many time before, I don’t see what is wrong with 50’s 2 singles so far? WTF are the haters talking about? I will admit, I don’t think Amusment park is the best SINGLE, but I still like it AND the beat is hard. He should have come out with a video to the REMIX of “Straight to the Bank” wit Hot Rod, that beat is SICK! I like it better than the origional
Anywayz, I am gonna support my man NO MATTER WHAT. I AM his most loyal fan. I have just about everything the man has ever touched, mixed tapes, promotional DVDs, you name it. I’m NUTS about him on EVERY LEVEL lol.
I’m not feelin’ “big thangs poppin” cuz it sounds almost like Young Jeezy’s “And then what” without the horn to me. Manny fresh has gotten fatter and lazier wit’ the beats lately. And KANYE? Are you fuckin’ KIDDING ME about that loud mouth fuck nigga? I can’t believe people even think he is relavent anymore after his last album and all of his fruit ass comments and outfits in ‘06?!!! AND he and Ne-yo go together (ha! HA!)
Everyone else can eat a dick.
June 7th, 2007 at 9:15 pm
50 that nigga, and all the hating just lets me know that he is definitely on top, so please don’t stop hating. That’s when its time to worry. G-UNIT!

Young Chris – Now or Never is going to be hot just his joints so far coast to coast, The Extravaganza, things i done in life and the life, dudes dont give props bcuz he is in the young gunz he is hard
Beanie Sigel – the solution cant say much about mack one of the hardesd nigga from the 90s
Fabolous – From nothing to something the best album so far in 07 from track 1 to 15 are all good solid songs, anyone could be a single for me, great metaphors, punchline. SOME good beat (PRODUCTION NOT THE BEST)
Ja Rule – The Mirror can he still do it, i have been hearding alot of the things about his album, Jay-Z even say that Ja got the best song he heard in Ja career, or in the last 5 five or even maybe ever, even his mixtape songs are like singles check free, its all hood now, too long, all i need, father for give me (classic rite here)
Will move units for sure
Kanye West – close to a classic (you know how kanye does it)
TI
Wont move units
Common his will be close to a classic wont move units
Lupe Fiasco same as common
Papoose – his first alot will be expected, his new joints are getting lamer by the minute, will be good especially bcuz it is first it will be more street (best street album for 07) wont good as the rest above
June 8th, 2007 at 3:21 am
I’m buying curtis, and t.i.p’s album, might UGK, the rest im leggin
June 8th, 2007 at 4:24 am
I hope kanye’s album comes out. And kanye’s a smart man. He is graduating on the junior effort.
June 8th, 2007 at 5:23 am
Kanye West will easily run this summer…Can’t Tell Me Nothing was supposed to just be a street single and it’s starting to blow up, and “Stronger” is going to be the song of the summer. People are forgetting about his track record: his first two albums were modern day classics – not many other rappers that you can say that about. August 21st may be late into the summer, but that’s what will take over the summer.
June 19th, 2007 at 1:06 pm
yall go cop fabolous. Dat album is straite fire. King of ny rite now. Go cop t.i. Album 2. Its gonna be hot. All his last albums were classics. Goin platinum. Curtis gon flop. Go get dat buck the world. Yall need 2 stop sleepin on it. Its on my top 10 albums of 00-07. Classic. Carter 3 gon be stupid. Juelz gonna sell more. Get his 2
