People not seeing my point. What is being, “dark skin.” Is there some color chart to decide if a woman is brown enough to make the cut? A woman is not light skin and not dark skin then what do you call her? Where does it stop and why do people even care. If a girl is fine, she is fine, I don’t say oh she is fine for a dark skin woman, that would be idiotic. Instead of making sarcastic comments, which have no purpose, send in suggestions. That is what I am saying people. Instead making comments like the one above and saying the woman aren’t dark enough for you, simply make a suggestion, I always listen to what people on this site say.

WTF, Why is this now an issue, when black women are disrespected everyday on this site? One simple comment about an Latino women and you go all out. But thank you for addressing the color barrier thing, it’s no secret that black men have come in touch with society’s standards of beauty, and won’t equate beauty to someone who resembles their mothers or their grandmothers for that matter. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but when your basing it solely off race and skin tone (which the industry is good for) that’s called self-hatred brother.

Now as for the race thing. I totally agree with you realtalk. I’m a Black female; the person who said rosario was a butter face had to be a bitter female. If it was a female, she probably only said that because black men, especially the ones that post comments on here it seems, tend to acknowledge and appreciate the beauty of women of another race more than their own and sometimes I feel that way to. It is almost like black men prefer women outside of their own race, not that race should matter because everyone has their own preference. It seems like the common Black man’s perception of beauty is long hair, light skin, and such.
However, race shouldn’t matter. I have seen you post vixens of Black race such as Jada, ciara, sanaa, ect. It seems like this site is specifically catered to the males. But there is beauty and ugly in every race. Realtalk you said it best.

I don’t agree with Anon’s presumed impression, that what chick is posted as a “Saturday Night Vixen” on an Internet blog is somehow going to influence an issue that has plagued the Black race since the days of slavery.
If someone is already self-conscious about their skin tone, I doubt there’s anything some blogger’s opinion of beauty, which is what this really comes down to, is going to do to make that self-consciousness any better or worse.
I do agree with the issue he/she raised about the skin tone of people like Tocarra, Gabrielle, and Garcelle. To me, as a dark-skinned female (about a shade darker than Kelly Rowland), those chicks aren’t dark by any stretch of the imagination.
Can’t speak for anyone else, but I’d put them more in the caramel, medium brown, and brown skin category. At the end of the day, it’s really sad that we still have “categories.” The KKK doesn’t care if you’re as light as snow, you’re still that word that starts with n and ends in r.

Anon, when at one point did I say that the shit doesn’t exist? Because I wrote that its messed up that it does. I think its stupid that people are still doing this shit, debating over damn skin tone. “She’s not light, she’s dark” “She’s not dark, she’s fair”…who classifies as ‘light skinned’ and who classifies as ‘dark skin’. Like I said, do we need to bring back the brown paper bag test to do this? At the end of the day, all of the women that RealTalkNY has posted are beautiful African American women and all we do are doing is segregating even more.

All Anon was trying to say was the following…
If this site put up 30 women, out of that 30 only 3 were DARK women. He was just suggesting that RTNY put up more Darker women because they are beautiful also. All this other stuff is crazy… he also respect that this is not his site and the owner can do what he want to do.. he also stated he a fan of the site.. so I don’t think any disrespect was put out there…….. his comment was about Vida and i agree that Vida has a HOT body and it stands out more than her face… however she looks better than anybody I dated…lol.

There has only been 22 vixens. My point is it not that serious, I mix it to whoever is hot that week most of the time. The thing he is calling some of the women not dark when they are not light skin. So his breaking it into three categories now? And even if he is doing that why mention women that are not even “dark” skin. This whole concept is stupid, forget skin tone and just enjoy beauty.

You gotta give a man a right to his oppinion. That doesn’t make him a hater. I agree with the comment about Rosalyn Sanchez. I always thought she was……lets just say she’s pretty but she leaves much to be desired. and as far as the dark skinned issue…..You know how the gane go. You gotta put out who’s hot and who’s available. If the game ain’t packed to the rafters with dark skinned woman then you ain’t really got much to choose from except whats there. it seems when anon is talking dark skinned he means milk chocolate and darker complexions. realtalkny it seems you mean caramel and darker complexions. ive never considered caramel skinned women “dark skinned”, just a middle of the road melanin count. i dont think realtalkny cares about the different classifications of skin color, just who is beautiful and making noise in the entertainment world at the moment. nothing wrong with that. unfortunately, there are not as many chocolate women in entertainment making loads of noise because a lot of men are still attracted to the european standards of beauty. it’s not their fault, just how america still is. either way, all women are beautiful, no matter their melanin count. appreciate what the man offers and leave it be.

Greeting from Zimbabwe! Just to contribute to this discussion, I have noticed a pre-dispostition towards lighter skined women in general (from all sources of the media coming from the west). Its deep rooted and even here (in the heart of Africa), the Bridal Price for lighter skined woman tends to be double that of Darker ones, hence the over use of cancerous bleaching chemicals which our sisters here use manufactered by (but are probably BANNED) in the USA, Asia etc. Infact the word “Kutsuka” which means Light Skined is interchangable with “Kunaka” which means beautiful (and unlike me the majority have never and can never access RTNY).
Its a tragedy.
Anyways keep up the good work. I can’t really stream the videos (still on 56k dial ups here), but the regualr mp3s and pictures keep my hiphop appertite fed!

People have their own perceptions of what is dark…………to the avg. black person I’m simply brown not or even a medium brown but to most just brown…..i’m sanaa lathan’s color and she’s definitely not dark because we are basically the same color and I call myself brown but i’ve had a few latino folks and a handful of lightskinned black men who have called me dark skinned which is funny but that just proves my point again people have their own perceptions of who and what is lightskinned enough to be considered lightskinned and who is just dark or brown enough to be called darkskinned like people especially black americans don’t have brown skinned people. Anyways I dunno what was the reason behind that comment when roselyn the latina woman was posted because this is my first day on this site.

Listen I like dark skinned woman. I think Gabrielle Union is a pretty good example of a dark skinned woman as well as Natasha Ellie and Serena Williams. I think they are all beautiful but like I said there ain’t that many. I was racking my brain to come up with more than these 3 and it really is hard. I’m dark skinned and they say that dark skinned people usually only like light skinned people well, I don’t know how true that it, but to me it seems that there just aren’t that many beautiful dark skinned (and I mean truly dark skinned), woman walkin around. I know, I know Ya’ll are gonna crucify me for this but hear me out. Most people are “cross breeding” having mixed raced children and there aren’t too many dark skinned people having babies with dark skinned people. Therefore less dark skinned people and certainly less sexy dark skinned people. Tell me if I’m wrong but I think that about sums it up.

But they don’t stick out in your mind like Beyonce, Halle and so forth.
Within every shade of skin colour there are ugly women then there are beautiful women. PERIOD!
