Timbaland Taking Sampling Too Far?
People are getting at Timbaland for his lack of effort on this track. People are saying he just jacked the beat and added some drums. Isn’t that what sampling is?

People are just hating. Every damn producer in the game right now has sampled or stole something or used another persons ideas at some point or another. They mad cuz Timbo doin the damn thing.

none u niggas realize that the RZA started all this shit in the early Wu-Tang albums with the chinese movie in back and sampling bits and piece into the track, Tim, pharell, kanye,etc all them niggas biting off RZA shit, go back and listen to some old Wu Tang shit and see what im talkin bout. Hell someone might have done it before him, but yet these lame ass nigga get the credit as being the Top Producers, Dre the only nigga who do good shit nowadays as far as OG Producers go.

like what a couple people said. sampling is hip-hop. you think all your favorite producers begun creating music from scratch? (well, scratching) then you don’t know what hip-hop is. what do you think the art of scratching came from? where did all these drums come from? in the beginning, producers and turntablists used records and scratched them and sampled breaks in songs to create new styles of music and also drum loops by tweaking them and adding samples over them. i know some people can take sampling over the limits by not doing much to the beat but sometimes the sample can sound decent enough to make that happen without having to cut the record up to try and create a new sound out of it. whoever has the name young jizzle needs to go digging in the crates of what hip-hop is and drop the name if he thinks he a rapper like he came on to a discovery or something. everyone wants to be young this and young that or lil this and lil that. grow up?

SAMPLING is hip hop!!!! The reason why a lot of rap is crap nowadays is cause producers DON’T sample (to keep their publishing), but they are not musically trained. The NEPTUNES rarely sample but they are MUSICIANS and can play instruments and know music theory. Kanye West samples . . . WHO CARES. So did PRIMO, so did DRE with NWA and his Chronic efforts, so does JUST BLAZE. Sampling IS hip hop and i love it. DO this . . . go to WIKIPEDIA.ORG and type in Kanye West. Then click on Albums, then click an album and click TRACKLISTING and u will find all the songs he sampled from. U can do this with any rapper on there and see all the original songs. Without sampling, hip hop would be crap, people wouldn’t discover how great groups like the Delfonics or Isley Bros. were (yes sampling helps the youth rediscover great old music) etc.. THis is the most retarded thread ever. Without sampling this site wouldn’t exist.

but this isn’t hip hop….it’s R&B….and R&B did not sart off of sampling…Hip Hop started off of sampling R&B lol….Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, etc, etc, those artist didn’t sample, and they created some of the best music ever made. Now a days, you can’t hear a hip hop beat without a Curtis Mayfield, or Isaac Hayes snippet in it…

Hip-hop started out sampling r&b? correct me if i’m wrong but wasn’t it alot of JAZZ music that was being sampled in the early Hip-Hop days?
anyway back to the subject at hand, Timbaland has already proven himself worthy of producing a dope track with no samples, the type of r&b thats out right now doesn’t require much more work than what he did on this beat, so why should he do more?

You know, I don’t blame Timbaland, Kanye, or any of the other whack producers out there who’s work solely relies on sampling. Must really suck to know you have to jack someone else’s stuff just to stay in the game because you’re not talented enough to create something on your own, but hey everyone has to eat right? The REAL producers are musicians-trained, disiplined, versatile musicians- Scott Storch, John Legend, etc. These are guys who can play just about any instrument. Newflash: Owning an MPC doesn’t make you a producer. TUFF JEW Productions!!

It took me-LITERALLY-about 12-15 minutes to fully understand what does what on an MPC,and how to make what work with what.That doesn’t say much about it’s learning curve.
I have more respect for people that know how to fully use FL Studio than I do for people with MPC’s,I laugh at clowns who think pure software production is easier because of the presence of a mouse and keyboard.

And this is exactly why New York hiphop will NEVER make a comeback,the South has been the most creative in recent years,and this is evident in the amount of attention and record sales Southern artists have experienced lately.No one wants to listen to Tina Turners trumpets over Lionel Richie’s guitar over Stevie Wonder keys over Roy Orbisons voice over Marvin Gayes kick over Michael Jacksons snare etc.People are TIRED of sampling in Hiphop,if I were Just Blaze i’d start taking music classes ASAP,no one with a desire for a successful future in the hiphop business specifically in Rap&performing will bother with a dying style of production.
At this rate,it’s safe to say the South has the crown for a loooong time.Shout out to every Southern producer that LEARNED how to play them keys,LEARNED how to screw and chop,LEARNED how to get that snare just right to suit Southern artists tastes,and so much more.In other words,shout out to the producers that PUT IN ACTUAL WORK.
