I heard the track a while back. The song is crazy. The video was cool, visually speaking. It wasn’t nothing to it, but at the same time, I’m not the type of cat who needs a flashy video to be entertained… Long as the song good, im good.

I like the song…..but it seems weak for a 1st single off the album. I just feels like a good album track….not a single.

Kanye is always doing some creative shit wit his videos….I’m feelin’ the video too….Kanye is always going the opposite way wit his videos….I’m glad it’s just not another video in the club or sum shit like that.

Beat= One of his best yet. 9/10
Lyrics= Simple,abit too simple,but ok anyways. 7/10
Video= I can make the same video with a $800 camera and $400 software and rent a model for $200 and rent a car for $80.In other words,Cheap-o video. 5.5/10
Overall= 8/10,if he keeps this up his next album will be in heavy rotation.

I have a feeling that this video is gonna go over a lot of heads…

Supposed to be low budget as hell..kind of a real relax, simple video. Perfectly fits the song, slow, simple(beat is simple as hell, thats why it sounds good not as crowded as the swizz, just blaze and storch beats around right now. Not to say I don’t like those producers).

Lyrics…didn’t expect much Kanye not a lyricist but he honest, to the point and that’s why his ass is selling to people who dont even like hip hop…

i give my nigga kanye propz, mad props actually. the lyrics are strong and i like how simple the video is, just him in the desert. its not flashy or all about money, cars, and hos like alot of other rap videos, then again kanye isn’t like other rappers, i think he made the video simple so that the person watching focuses on the lyrics and what he is trying to say and not sum ho tits or ass. he speaks bout his problems and struggles and not about how big his chain is or how his watch is shiny. def copin the album when it drops, come to think about it the last album i bought was nas in december.

…Plus the video is off the chain, it has everything a regular hiphop video would have the honeys, the cars, the jewelry, the only difference is everything is done to an extreme artistic minimum, so you’re listening to what kanye is saying and not looking at something else. I surprised how good the song sounds too considering that he didn’t sample some other song for this record.

Track simple, but nice. Indeed i agree feels more like one of those good album tracks rather then a first single, but still something new and fresh to my ears… as o the people saying its a low budget video, couldn’t be furthest from the truth. No $800 camera and $400 software can do that. I’m smelling minimum $100,000 budget for the video more or less, shot on 35MM film which is extremely expensive, many movement dolly shots/cranes and i believe i saw a couple helicopter shots there, that alone costs more then all of your car’s purchase price fellas.

But on the other hand, video didn’t have a storyline whatsoever, and the performance shots were pretty looking, but not gorgeous enough to be a performance only video such as Speed Of Sound by ColdPlay or any of those great videos, so yes a stronger director should have been picked for this video in my opinion. Nonetheless Kanye hasn’t created a flop yet, sometracks better then others but all in all kanye is a hit maker and a true musician, so I am interested in what his new album will bring to the table.

I’m almost certain this “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” track was initially made for Jeezy for a song he had on his album called “I Got Money”, which Toomp ended up producing. I think Jeez thought that Toomp’s track flowed better w/ the album. Hell if u even listen towards the end of the song u can hear Jeezy saying “I Got Money”.

The craziest shit is the fact that Kanye took Toomp’s whole drum kit and whole drum programing style 4 this particular beat and WON with it! I’m a producer myself & I thought that was creative 2 fuse his style and anotha producers style and make it work. Dude a got damn genious. Believe it!

Honestly,I feel sorry for people that think these music video directors and special effects dudes are using some sort of self-made coded software and utilities. 99.9% of these fellas dont know sh*t about code,I can bet you my $16,000 car that they are using software and equipment that can be purchased by ANYONE with a solid paycheck.

The thing is,USING the software and equipment to create the effects and general imagery/theme(s) is what separates us from them.They have studied and used both software and equipment extensively,thus they can manipulate and combine aspects and features of both and make an overall expensive&impressive looking video.They are not paid $50,000+ to get the software,they are paid $50,000+ to make something great with THE software and utilities.

I find it ironic that people can’t believe these “super” directors use everyday software/average consumer priced software,yet the software 99% of the music industry uses for making album covers,magazine covers,making beats,recording vocals,etc can all be purchased at your local Walmart.

You can hire a helicopter for as low as $800 an hour,with all the equipment for filming in place.The obvious disadvantage of this is you’ll have to get the shot you’re looking for in that one hour(if that’s all you can afford),thus you’ll need a solid cameraman/setup to do the job in 60 minutes.
