major label album, rapper 50 Cent gives no quarter. As hard and brutally
honest, yet musical and entertaining, as his first two albums — each of

He’ll do well, but don’t expect ridiculous numbers. That’s just the way the industry has been the last two years. Even a superstar artist with an overhyped comeback album (Jay-Z) only did 1.5 million. I think Curtis will sell about 2-3 million, depending on how big the lead single is. But you niggas thinking he’s gonna do “Get Rich” numbers in 2007, when albums with hit songs are selling 70,000, that’s naive.

Rap doesn’t sell as much these days, and we all know that. So I can’t really imagine 50 Cent selling as many copies as he did for his “Get Rich or Die Tryin” album. He’ll do decent numbers by today’s standards, partially because of people like “tino”, who seems to be taking his unhealthy fascination with a rapper to a new level. Plus, you can say, 50 Cent is a “household” name, so that would give him few more sales as well.
Personally, I don’t really expect too much from this CD, but hey, I could be wrong, and I hope I am. If it’s full of mindless, dumbed-down club shit or empty threats and beefs and is lacking lyricism and meaning, then it would definitely be a disappointment. But if 50 puts some time and thought into it and comes correct, then there may be a few good tracks on it after all. I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but somehow I think it would be a mediocre album at best.
