Christian Group Tells 50 Take Off The Cross
Gansta rapper 50 Cent often wears a large diamond covered platinum cross around his neck, a wardrobe accessory that a large Christian group demands he remove.
“50 Cent is no Christian, and if you listen to his lyrics it becomes clear that he is more of a Satanist than anything” explains Mark Dice of The Resistance, a nationwide Christian organization focused on preserving Christian values in the media.
“He is defaming the cross and committing blasphemy by wearing it while he raps about killing people for no reason because he’s a big bad ‘gangster.’ I think a large diamond studded platinum satanic pentagram would be a little more fitting for him” Dice concludes.
The cross if featured prominently on his album cover Get Rich or Die Trying, and can often be seen in photos of the rapper and adorned during concert performances.
“Its appalling for anyone to say they believe in God and then wear a huge Christian cross while rapping about murdering people for fun” explains Dice.
Those who live by the sword, die by the sword as the rap community has learned by the tragedies of Tupac Shakur, Biggy Smalls, and most recently Eminem’s best friend and fellow D12 member Proof, who was shot in the head during a scuffle at a bar in Detroit on April 11, 2006.
The Resistance is no stranger to MTV’s icons. In 2005 they made headlines around the world for demanding MTV pull Jessica Simpson’s video These Boots are Made for Walking, and calling the Simpson a “singing stripper.” The group has also recently been in the news for urging Duke University to change the name of their sports teams from the Blue Devils to something not offensive to the Christian community.

In 1st Corinthians 1:9 Paul says to “Be all things to ALL people.” God need soldiers in His army representative of society, and relating to society to get His Word across. If 50 wearing a cross, demonstrates that underneith what WE see, he recognizes God and what the cross represents, atonement for sin, that is what matters. He is still getting The Message out there. We can say that this Dice guy is doing exactly what the bible says and viewing people strickly by what he sees on the OUTSIDE. 1st Samual 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do NOT look at the way he looks on the outside or how tall he is, because I have not chosen him. For the Lord does not look at the things man looks at. A man looks at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Therefore my assumption is that Dice is fueled by his CARNAL man, not his spirit, in determining things of the Lord. Dice should examine himself and take the lumber yard out of his OWN eye, so he can see things clearer.
It’s not for him to judge who is a Christian or not, that’s God’s job, and he isn’t God, nor does he REP God in my opinion. He’s far too limited in understanding that God needs all kinds of people to reach all kinds of people, not just the type Dice has in his little mold.
Get out a lil more Dice! You’re a true embaracement to the Christian community. Broaden your SPIRITUAL MIND, and stop going by your HUMAN LIMITS, what YOU see. Let God judge salvation, you are in no position to. And lastly rep what God is all about. This is what the Bible says : Mat 10:32 Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father” that INCLUDES 50 Cent.”

Define “progressive”.. Rap and Hip Hop has been extremely progressive, now basically having no cultural boudries, and has been accepted as a viable art form. Just because it’s an art YOU don’t appreciate or perhaps can’t understand or relate to, doesn’t make it non progressive ot NOT an art form.
As far as defending a public figure like 50? Myself I would defend anyone from their belief system being discredited for invalid reasons, famous or otherwise. Personally I don’t like 50’s style, my comment was in relation to a “Christian” being self rightous enough to believe they can JUDGE another on their salvation. Simply put, they can’t.
Christianity isn’t about OUTWARD displays and words, as much as actions, however how you live can reflect what you believe. If you wear a cross it would indicate a tie to Christ and or a comprehenion of what the cross symbolizes. Christianity is a personal relationship with Christ in 2007, regardless of origin.
Lastly how about YOU research RAP, and it’s orgins…you’ll discover that it’s a continuance of the African culture’s language and tradition with roots dating back to African oral tradition. Educate yourself. You may feel enlightened.
