I would have to disagree with the people saying it is too late. If he had this released on the radio and got play, no one would be thinking, “Oh it is too late for Sisqo.” This song passes for a radio song of today and most great songs start off with no one knowing the artist off-the-bat. You will have people saying three weeks later, “Oh that’s Sisqo?! From Dru Hill?! Damn, that’s hot.” Not, “Oh that’s Sisqo from Dru Hill, Oooh, I don’t like that, it’s too late for him for me to bump his music!”

The point is the song is OK for radio right now, it would get a bunch of plays. Right now, tracks that bump and are about getting a lady on “the floor” (Akon, T-Pain, etc.) are what people are hearing, so this song plays right in.

The video sucks, I can’t believe he can’t afford a better one. Oh well, maybe he will be getting another one done. If they come up with the money and this gets released on something like MTV2 or another channel, I am sure it will do well.

Sisqo approached me last year. I had worked with him on several videos including the FOXY BROWN DRU-HILL VIDEO w/VIVICA FOX and BILL BELLAMY.

I was happy to see him and we spoke about all his success, then he said something that shocked me. Sisqo has not made one penny from THONG SONG or any of the other million dollar selling hits from his Def Jam days. The reason, million dollar videos have to be “re-couped” back to the label. Meaning the artist will not make any money on the single untill the video is payed for. A $500,000.00 video will take 30 years at $2,000.00 a month to pay off. And that’s just one, how videos did Sisqo make? Do the math and add studio time and about a thousand other itemized recouperable services and you can see how TLC and HAMMER got broke.

Now I’m not saying Sisqo is broke (that’ll be evident when CLUB ON FIRE comes out). He’s just smarter and this time around wants to get paid for his talents, ON EVERY SONG!

BTW this video is a rough cut that someone in my camp leaked anyone who knows anything about the music video industry knows no label would put out a video at low res w/time code on the bottom.
