umm….your point???? I know Africa has many countries. But is Jamaica one of them?? smh, The point is simple. Look at my above post so you can clerify what a Rasta flag is, what a Ethopian flag is, and what a Ghanaian flag is, and then when you figure that out maybe you’ll understand the content of my post questioning why a ghanaian flag was used instead of a real Rasta or Jamaican flag.

It’s not a big deal, since the flags differ only slightly, maybe the directors didn’t have the exact flag on set and decided to improvise. It was a simple question though. A flag doesn’t cost much. So It was just a small thing that I noticed.

yo GLOCK ur right the flag ain a rasta flag! an Ethiopian flag can also have the lion symbol in the middle.The reason why the one you found has a star in it is because it’s the new governments sign, when Haile Selassie was on throne the flag had the lion of Judah symbol , and it’s still to this day an Ethiopian flag and as desert clearly stated we rastas use it cuz we feel we decended from there and we believe Ethiopia is the holly land and Haile Selassie is our king.

It’s also in line with Marcus Garvey’s Black Star line idea which Dr Kwame Nkrumah[Ghana's First President] and his then advisor Dr W.E.B. DuBois incorporated into the Ghana flag at our independence on March 6, 1957. Jr Reid first performed in Ghana in the early 1980’s. He uses the Ghana flag everywhere he performs. Even in Jamaica. He used it at the BET awards when he did the One Blood remake with the game. He didnt use it becos he cdnt find a Jamaican flag. There is a positive symbolism here.

Farakhan, Jesse Jackson, Oprah, Maya Angelou, Isaac Hayes and every single Afrcan leader in the West visit Ghana constantly. U wdn’t find CNN showing the positive aspects of Africa. Do ur own research my brothers.

That is cool that you guys where able to share knowledge and information ,because after five years in the state I have started to be very dissapointed by the lack of self respect shown by Black people in general wether African,Caraibean,American,south American. It was a shock that they could not enjot their own cultures and other black people cultures.
Communication is the key , i think Oprah should do a show where she invites cultural representative of all Black cultures to discuss litterature,foood,dance,cinema,real estate,trade,tourism etc..

ok miky that statement you just made was trully ignorant. sometimes its the little messages in videos that we should pay attentiion to. first of all GHana is not necessarily the oldest country in Africa but was a model for the unity of Africans and those in the diaspora meaning carribeans African Americans etc yes they are we are all AFricans too. befroe these modern nations were carved there were many great indigineous nations etc.
the flag is symbolic of the potential of black people as a whole its jus not about the country ok.

i was born in ghana and seeing the flag in the video means alot to me and my people.its even in the we taking over video(dj khaled)..the red means the blood and fight for freedom of our Forefathers. yellow means gold(because ghana used 2 be called gold coast b4 independence, because its rich in gold. green means the green lands and beauty of africa(which people dont see because all u watch and know about africa is the discovery channel…jus like showing only the hoods of america on tv) and the black star stands for the strength and the unity of black people.

The ghana flag is in the Video Clip becuase many people from Jamaica are descendents of Ghananians. Reference “The Mystic Phenomena of Jamaica”. Very good book that can be found, full text, online. It talks about the Ashanti influence (naming customs etc).The flag of Ghana also appears as the backdrop in the “Blood a Run” video with Inner Circle and many other Reggae artistes video clips.
