This exact statement is why todays youth are so misguided- instead of looking up to people like Oprah, Barack Obama, Condoleeza Rice, Collin Powell, (you don’t necessarily have to agree with their politics but you have to respect their accomplishments) and other African American’s that have risen on the social ladder not because they knew how to throw a couple of rhymes over a nice beat but because they worked hard and were smart. We talk about how we want to be a country that is united but every time you look there is some situation that has to do with race. We need to learn how to protest peacefully but make it effective. At the same time government needs to apologize for many historical events that had to do with race including the take over of America by European from the Native Americans, slavery, Jim Crow laws and so many other incidents that put this nation against each other because of our race. As a Canadian, I’m truley broken and disgusted on how your president has never done a damn thing for his country. Your government has billions of dollars to ship overseas to a so called “war on terror”, but there’s fuck all money going into american communities that are becoming worse than 3rd world countries. When you are born and raised in a community and spoon fed a stereotype of yourself, its hard to break out of that. When you are born into a life of crime, oppression and lack of education, especially in America, and you are of colour, the truth is your back is against the wall. Are all black people lazy? No! Are all black people criminals? No! But when I tune into American programming,this is what I’m told.
I’m not saying Canada is perfect, or non-racist. However, acceptance of people of all backgrounds, lifestlyes, ethinities is wide.
My school was mixed, so we all chilled with eachother.
We dated outside our race, because in East Van, it’s hard not too.And…it just wasn’t a big deal.
We don’t assume someone of a certain skin tone is going to mug us because, again it’s East Van.We’re all differnet colours.
Where I’m from, poor doesnt’ discriminate. We all seem to be in the struggle, not just one race.
So I see the States self destructing, and I wish is wasn’t so, but with ignorant people being allowed to air their horse shit on shiteous tv stations like fox, who really cares if there are terrorists.
You got an internal war blasting your contry apart more than before, and your good ol’ boy of a president isn’t doing shit. Words can’t describe my disgust. I really feel for the people that suffer the most.

Well I must say that this isn’t much of a surprise that FOX said things of this nature. I just didn’t think they would be stupid enough to be as blunt and ignorant to say some of the things said. In my opininon, racism is all around. There’s a racist in every race unfortunately, BUT in America’s case the majority is white because they ARE the majority. The best thing we can do, is shatter the myths and stereotypes, and educate others about what is going on, but to be honest, the majority of african americans are not following the news, they are not reading the papers, they are not keeping up with current events, they are more of whats happening right now in their surroundings. I am an african american female. I grew up in a bad neighborhood, but with hard work my mom (single parent practically) was able to get me and my 3 brothers out of there.
This comment board serves more as release therapy AND to see just how ignorant some black people sound commenting on this, than actually getting some answers, the quicker you find that out the better. I just know some of the FOX Network or any other person with interest in this topic that is RACIST are having a good laugh at all the comments made but still no progress OR just on how everyone presents themselves.
My advice, until the black community learns to quit envying each other and commiting violence on themselves then we aren’t going to get anywhere. There’s nothing that one person can do about this sadly, its all about numbers in situations like this. I am not a racist by all means, but i must say that i was offended with the remarks made about african americans and the events that have occured with them. Fox knows what they are doing being one sided with situations. They know who to put up there to sound a certain way. If anything, we need to find someone that can equally discuss these topics in a manner to making them look stupid by trying to cut him/her off or trying to change the subject. It’s all about how you present the situation.

These comments are nothing new in the black community.Yes it is an absolute shame that that young man was killed in such a senseless manner but more violence isn’t going to solve anything. The only way to win this war is through pleading the blood of Jesus in our prayers, striving to get a higher education, and teaching our young children the right way through the word of God. As we can see through the world media and from reading the scriptures, life is hard already and only going to get harder as God allows time to go on. From my observations in my life, our own people, have gotten more and more angry with each passing day. Some of us have simply given up the hope that we will make anything out of the gift of life we’ve been given. If we could just see that, our forefathers and mothers as slaves, only made it thru’ that disgraceful time in history by sticking together and calling on the name of Jesus, then together we can help each other stay sane and make it out of this racist world in peace that only Jesus can give.

I would first like to start off as saying that one i am a single black mother of a 4 yr old no I did not graduate from college and Im paying for that everyday and one day when I am able I will go back to college. Yet, as a single mother working a hourly job to support my daughter I do a damn good job of raising her all by myself. To have to raise my daughter in this type of enivorment only pushes me to make sure my daughter has the best of everything and teach her to be the best woman she can ever become. To all the haters I want you to know that I STRIVE to make sure that my daughter will be better than you, your children and grandchildren. My daughter is the future and as long as I teach her to be bigger than bad politics.All of my blood, sweat and tears will have paid off for me, because its not what you’ve learned but how you are raised.
I struggle everyday to give my daughter everything possible and I am a educated black woman, and I have goals and dreams. I will die in HELL with gasoline underwear on before I let a society driven by hate and dismay teach my child how to be a better woman in whatever she does.

I think that all of this is extremely outrageous racist and childish. Although all white people do some messed up things we need to learn that it isnt all. We as black people do need to stand up for what is right. There are some black people who believe that it isnt that white man its us holding ourselves back…in which i do agree under certain circumstances but how can you not feel a certain type of way when things like this are goin on? I understand that sometimes we need to learn to let somethings go and forget about the past but how can we when institutional slavery still exists but this country claims to be so free. The media portrayal of black people and/or minority has primarily been in a poor and subjective taste, with what they want us to see (half trues) for a long time, however staying true, we need to stop allowing ourselves (the survivors- by any means necessary cats) to be portrayed in that manner, by not doing some of the things that put us in this type of light, of course that’s not all of us, but it is apart of us just the same. It doesn’t dismiss the portrayal though. And it’s not just from our behaviors but our lifestyle and where we live fortunate or unfortunate and how that is portrayed. I think that Fox and others who report blacks and others in such a light is business as usual for them, but what can I do about the Foxes, well in this day and age there are too many media forums that I can get my news and entertainment, so I turn the channel, write letters, protest, don’t support!

John Gault- I’m not surprised at your response to those responses of us who may not think like you. I too lack surprise over the replies of my people because we are tired, some more so than others, but none the less tired just the same (of what we know to be true, and that is, the clip you mentioned is not new at all, in fact it’s old, very old). Then I will have to ask then what are the well informed, educated and objective black people who are not in hysteria are doing, oh that’s right- you are now doing your part to sway independent thinkers within the black community away from the irrational and hysterical, but toward the rational and objective. Well, I was definitely nor fooled by this propaganda. The fact is, you can take any mainstream news program and collect news clips from the past several years, pull out the ones that look like they are proving your point and make any claim you want.
I think it is about time that we (yes, I am a black man) stop blaming everyone else for what we don’t have and get up off our asses and go get what we want. Somebody said that the white man does not give a rats ass about us. Hell no he doesn’t. He’s too busy gettin what’s his out there. Meanwhile, what are we doin? Sittin around complaining about what we don’t have. Complaining will get you no where. The fact is that any black man or woman can do or achieve anything he or she wants. You just have to be willing to work for it.

I didn’t read all of the post, but the majority I did. I personally boycott Fox news. The majority of you who posted sound dumb as hell, and would never prove a point.
You cannot spell, and just continuously say white people are against black people, or mexicans vs. blacks, or gays whatever.
African-Americans are not the only people to be oppressed in history. The majority of your are not even African-American, just American. This means 3rd generation or further. You don’t hear/say Mexican American,English American, Irish American, Chinese American, or whatever else.
The problem with black America is the vast majority see being educated or smart as uncle tommin it, and the poor ones feel they are in that place b/c white ppl are holding them down.
Simple fact is too succeed and change you have to be educated. You didn’t hear Dr. King speaking ebonix, and being a dumbass gangsta wannabe.

I had to stop reading. The idiocy here is astounding.
Just a few things I feel like saying:
1)Unless you were born in Africa and then moved to America, you are not African American.
2)The first black slaves sold were sold by other blacks.
3)Most of you are uneducated and thus have no one to blame for your problems other than yourself.
4)Most of you call each other “nigga” and even “nigger” and then complain like little children if you hear someone else(non black) say it.
5)Most of you want everything handed to you.
6)Most of you think that because I am white I can’t understand.

Have we now? Did we force young black teens to have sex and thus have children? Then, did we make the fathers of said children to leave? The answer to all of those questions is “NO”. Do me a favor and look up college scholorships for black males/females/minorities and tell me what you find. Then look up the same except this time search for scholorships for white males.
