First I should say that I been a kobe fan since highschool so I might be bias but nobody in the history of this league can do what he can do he has larry bird range M J mid range game domnique hops and isiah handles and pippen defense I know people gon say u crazy but if had all that they wouldn’t lose well lets be real his team sucks the secomd best player on the team is scared to take a shot and everybody else don’t matter there point guard is from the d league and luke walton would be a bench player on any other team if u watch them every night like I do u would see what I mean when I say he really carring this team to the playoffs without they 20 games the only person ever to come close to is mj but he couldn’t shoot threes like kobe he is the best player this game is ever seen

OK!!!! This may sound really blasphemous but i dont care…. KOBE BRYANT IS THE BEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME. Kobe’s dominance on the court is unmatchable, and considering how the league is today, that is unbelievable. while Kobe may never leave a legacy like MJ did nor will he affect the game the way MJ did, but when it come to pure talent Kobe is a better all around player. Kobe is faster, more agile, he has better defense, he can shot better from behind the arc and is a better all around scorer. Now i know MJ will always have his legacy and no one will change the game the way he did, but Kobe is better. If you look at the way Kobe is putting this lakers team on his back it is truly amazing, the lakers are one of the youngest teams in the NBA and Kobe is making them a contender IN THE WEST!!! If Kobe just had a few more pieces he could win a ship.

Jordan had 8, with a high of 37.1, Iverson had 5 over 30 in his first 11 seasons.

problem w/ the internet is that there is no filter as to who can post in these type of forums…
listen kids, kobe is no m.j. plain & simple. you’re too young to have seen what he did. it wasn’t real. he didn’t lose. he was most clutch. if m.j. didn’t exist & someone wrote a story on his career & what he accomplished, you wouldn’t believe it. it was fairy tale. but it wasn’t. it’s real.
not to take anything away from kobe. he’s the best player in the league, that has some big talent. he may even be top 5 ever. but, he really hasn’t accomplished all that much yet, in his somewhat young career. fair or not, those first 3 titles will always have an asterisk in the greatest ever debate, b/c he played along side w/ shaq (some of you are probably even too young to understand how much of a BEAST he was).
plus, the talent in the league is watered down, though that’s not his fault. just the espn era of the nba. all flash, no substance (one reason our country can’t even win a world title w/ a roster full of all-stars).

He played against Hakeem Olajuwon, Mutumbo in his prime,Clyde Drexler, He got tp play with Magic, Bird, etc. I mean the NBA was different then.

Ok ppl. I guess I have 2 settle this argument myself. Now don’t get me wrong. Kobe is definitely a great player, the best of his era definitely. But he is not the G.O.A.T. MJ is still king. No one has EVER impacted the game the way he has besides maybe wilt. Sum of u have said that Kobe is a better scorer n don’t get me wrong he is having a ridiculous streak rite now. But do u c who he’s doin it against? 81 against the raptors! The raptors! They were terrible last year! But he gets his props tho. 81 is crazy. N this year durin this streak he played against the likes of the grizzlies the hoenets n the blazers. Threre of the worst teams in the league now let alone comparing them 2 the comp Jordan had in his day.Kobes competition 2day isn’t one-fourth of what Jordan faced but as me606 said that’s not his fault. But he gets his props tho. Over 50 in 4 straight games is amazing. But think about this…Jordan scored 63 in the PLAYOFFS…against the 80s Celtics. Bird, McHale, Parrish, Dennis Johnson, bill Walton n other hall of famers. I means 4 goodness’ sake MJ kept an entire generation of superstar HOFs from winning a championship. Dominique wilikins, Karl Malone, Stockton, Barkley, Ewing, David Robinson who only got 1 after he retired, olajuwon who only got 2 cuz MJ retired, Clyde drexler, Reggie Miller, n so on n so on. One of the greatest defensive teams of all time the Detroit pistons came up with an entire defensive scheme,the Jordan rules, 2 stop 1 man. He retired 4 almost 2 whole years of the PRIME of his career n came back n did in 3 years what Kobe has done in 11. Win 3 championships. Without a Shaq! Jordans legacy wouldve been that much bigger had he not retired. There were players who actually wouldn’t get off the bench 2 guard Jordan. In every single championship he played in he was the MVP. He kept for most part the entire 1992 dream team from winning a championship! He nearly scored 50 at 40 years old with the wizards! N there is so much more but I’m tired of typing. Kobe is great in his own right but I don’t think he’ll ever reach the magnitude of MJs greatness. Its like 2days generation only see the present n don’t take the time 2 realize how great Jordan was among possibly the greatest era of players the game has ever seen. N I’m part of this generation at only 21 years old.
P.S. How can Kobe be the G.O.A.T. when he hasn’t even gotten out of the 1st round let alone win a ring without Shaq? Being the greatest is not solely based on how many points a player scores.And it only took Shaq 1 year before he won 1 without Kobe. I keep hearing people talking about who’s better between Kobe or MJ. I’m gonna put it like this, if Kobe played in the same era as MJ than he would have averaged damn near 40 points a game, period. And if MJ played in this era his scoring average would still be the same, between 30 and 32 points. Kobe is more athletic than MJ, he’s just as good on defense as MJ, and unlike MJ Kobe’s jumper has been nice since his 4th year in the league. MJ didn’t develop into a well rounded player until his 8th year. Now don’t get me wrong, MJ has always been a lethal scoring threat but his jumper was very suspect in his first 7 seasons and he didn’t come around defensively until the year he won his first championship. And one more thing, Kobe never asked to play on the same team as Shaquille O’neal and that’s a big reason why over 11 seasons his scoring average is only 24 points and if MJ was playing with Shaquille O’neal in his prime like Kobe was his scoring average wouldn’t be so high either.

lets look at the best defensive teams that are playing rite now….there AREN’T any LOL and all the good teams jus have great jump shooters or ppl who can drive, there are NO great defensive teams anymore. even the pistons fell off on their defense. the suns don’t bother cuz theyll outscore anyone, same w/ the Mavs, and the spurs are decent w/ their defense but that’s basically it. Dirk and/or Nash will probably win the MVP this year, but in 5 years you’ll still talk about what Kobe did this season. Just like Martin Scorsesse never winning an Oscar till this year, Kobe is in the same league, maybe won’t win an MVP before it is all over, but deep down everyone . . . EVERYONE knows he is clearly the best player in the league!!!! It is shameful we don’t respect his greatness now. The league without Kobe would be boring. yooo but look at this a while back stephon marbury was the point guard for the phx suns who had amare, s. marion, and company, now marbury had a great supporting cast but did they win any games?? I will just add on to what everyone see’s on TV everytime the Lakers are on… Kobe is the greatest individual player of all time. Jordan was great… incredibly great but Kobe is something else. Jordan had two of the top 50 players surrounding him throughout all of his career with Pippen and Rodman. He had the two top three point threats of all time with Paxton and Kerr… Kobe isn’t working with anything near that level but tends to perform like no other. He has not once had a downfall in his basketball career and is already considered a hall of famer at 28.. I don’t think Kobe needs 3 more rings to reach Jordan’s status as a champion to be considered the best individual player of all time..

but he does, ill take shaq in his prime then pippen n rodman (no disrespect to those guys cuz they were amazing) but c’mon shaq dominates all those guys, ur telling me if jordan never retired and had shaq as his center he wouldnt have gotten 7 or 8 rings c’mon….luke longley, bill wennington, pippen, n rodman don’t equal one shaq in his prime plus after jordan won 3 rings he was def callin him a hall of famer then and kobe did hit the mavs w/ 61 but the mavs aren’t a great defensive team LOL the teams of the jordan era relied more heavily on defense, nowadays its more bout scoring (suns, mavs) that’s why those are the top 2 teams in the league. and the suns who had starbury weren’t a championship calibur team, they are now cuz of a great pg named steve nash…that’s why hes always MVP status, kobe is great but he made sum bad decisions would’ve given him more rings in his prime and would’ve seriously give jordan a run 4 his money but at the end of the day its all bout them rings

Jordans a Legend, Kobe is not. They ain’t even in the same class. Jordan was virtually a pioneer, Kobe is following on from him. Kobe is the best right now, but don’t class the dude next to MJ. It like comparing Tupac to 50 cent. Legends are legends because they are the best. Kobe has not achieved legend status.

Kobe would be great in 1 on 1, but you can keep him in the NBA. How do you score 50 and your teams still loses?
“No one can stop him”.. thats great a 50 point Loss, umm you realize basketball is a team sport about winning right?
Shaq went to Miami and was the ultimate team player and won another championship. Kobe scores 50 a night, and barely makes the playoffs, while making every player on his team worse. (PS.. remember Jordan always trying to get everyone involved= Bulls Championships) Kobe is too dumb or selfish to see that.
Kobe is just another scorer, a great one- but don’t kid yourself he ain’t no champion. Randy Moss and him should get an apartment out in LA together.
